Members Only Cruise

What's the difference between a Members Only cruise and any other cruise (aside from the obvious in the title)? What are the pros/cons for doing a Members Only cruise as opposed to a regular one? Thanks!

While I have not been on a member's cruise, I believe the differences are:
- extra 'goodies'. Seems like many people turn around and sell them on eBay.
-the one just announced for August '14 has a double dip at c.c.
- being on a cruise with just dvc'ers who may be just as fanatical as you are.
- I think it may cost a bit more
- they bring in extra people from various parts of the company to give talks

IMHO the double dip at CC would be worth it.....but I'm resale and am forever banished from a member cruise.

I saw they just announced the next member cruise. Can you only book them using your points or can you pay cash for them? If so how much are they usually. I noticed they aren't listed on the dcl site.

All of the information is on the Member Website. DCL pulled the 8/24/2014 cruise from it's website after DVC chartered that date back in July.

What does that mean? I just received a flyer in the mail inviting me call to book the cruise on November 3. I am a resale.

From the Member Cruise details page on DVCMember.com:

As of March 21, 2011, Members who purchase their Ownership Interest through Disney Vacation Development, Inc. are eligible to book reservations for all Member Getaways collections. Members who purchase on the resale market after this date will not be able to use those vacation points or cash to make reservations for the Member Cruise.

If you purchased your resale contract prior to 3/21/2011, you are grandfathered in and able to sail on the Member Cruise.

If you are resale and cant use points you should still be able to use cash. The cost for this years was almost twice what the same cruise the next week was.

I guess I know the answer after looking at tha chart for member cruise only
It says for exemple 145 points per person but can only one book in a stateroom
If one was to go alone would that be 145 pts only no extra charge ??
Any past cruiser might know the answer !!

For normal cruises there is a single supplement if you cruise alone and on Disney I believe it is 100% of the cruise fare, you just don't pay the extra taxes. the fine print on the points chart says

Reservation points and cash rates are per person, based on double occupancy and apply to 1st and 2nd passenger.

so I would guess that means you need to pay for at least 2.
