medieval times

Myself, my husband, my mom and our three kids are going to Orlando at the end of May--Whooo hooo!!
How child friendly is the Medieval Times show? We have a five year old, a two year old and a baby (who will sleep through it anyway). We're looking at a 6:15 show on a Sat. to make it a little earlier. Although my mom has said that it doesn't matter to her if she goes or not (meaning she'll stay at the hotel with the kids and be perfectly content).
So would kids that young enjoy the show or would we be better off leaving them with grandma?

We took our daughter last year; she was three years old at the time, and enjoyed it immensely. Good idea going to an earlier performance; we went at 8:30 and our little girl was awfully tired by the end, although she was too mesmerized to sleep. There's some swordfighting and jousting that ends with "death" scenes (no fake blood or anything). If you're not pleased at the idea of your little one's seeing that sort of thing, then you might want to leave them with grandma. We explained to our daughter that they were all just play-acting, though, and she had no problems with the performance. The seating is a bit awkward; everyone sits on these monstrously long benches that run the length of the arena with a table in front of you; it's not really conducive to bringing an infant along.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking your five year old would get a kick out of it; the other two are probably just going to make it difficult for the other three to enjoy it. . . .

First, Welcome to the Disboards!

Now, if I may make a suggestion...Are you certain that you want to go to Medieval Times? We have been to MT and would only rank that third out of the three dinner shows we have seen. I would definitely rank Arabian Nights much higher and just two weeks ago, we added Dixie Stampede to our dinner show list and were delighted with it. I really think that younger kids like yours would enjoy AN or DS much more than Medieval Times. The horses at Arabian Nights were of many varieties and much more beautiful. At Dixie Stampede, not only are there horses, but also buffalo and ostriches My kids are older (14 & 10) but both enjoyed the show a lot.

First a great big WELCOME to the boards

my family has een to medieval times in ORlando twice

first time kids were 4 and 6
second time they were 6 and 8 both girls

they LOVED it
they have a great little muesum to go thru before the show
that the kids loved

i have heard other people say that Arabian knights is a better show but i would n't know because my kids always want to go see the knights at medieval times

it is almost there fave thing in orlando

and the 6:30 show with little ones is a good idea

my only thing is it gets pretty loud so the baby may not sleep thru it and if the noise scared the baby then it could make for a long show for the rest of you

I think dh and I are going to go to the later show alone He really has his heart set on seeing the show. Next time perhaps we'll branch out and try some of the other ones.
If we go the the later show the kids will probably be asleep, due to the busy day and the time change, so they won't know that they've actually missed anything. Plus, I'm fairly sure that the seating would not work for my mom (back and knee issues among other things.) I didn't realize that it was a bench seat and it would really make it awkward/uncomfortable for her.
We'll probably enjoy it more alone (something we don't do to often anyway) and the kids will still have a ton of fun all day (no guilt for me)
