MeanLaureen's Useless Poll of the Day - TGIF

"Do you follow the 5 second rule?" If you don't know the 5 second rule, read above!

  • "Of course! It's a scientific fact!" ;)

  • "I do but only if the food is non porous like M&M's - in case there are some quicker than normal ger

  • "I do but only in my house because I will only risk germs owned by me" :teeth:

  • "Heck no, no way will I eat food that touched the floor, even if for only a millisecond!"

  • "You think I'm going to admit I'll eat food that was on the floor??!?" ;)

  • "5 seconds? I thought we had a good 10 seconds???"

Happy Friday Everyone!

So how is your weekend shaping up so far? Here in Richmond the temperature has gotten so much nicer! We are a sunny 71 degrees right now. I'm sure it will hit 90 before the end of the day though :sunny:

I thought I would make today's poll topic quick and simple and ask about one of the age old rules of life

The 5 second rule

For those of you that don't know what the 5 second rule is: If food falls on the floor and you are able to pick it up within 5 seconds, it's still edible because everyone knows that germs take a good 6 seconds or more to adhere ;) :teeth:

So..

"Do you follow the 5 second rule?"

I had to add option 6 after being informed by my husband than manly food gets 10 seconds   :p

I dont at all. Ask me if I let my kids..that is a different story:p

LOL, we joke about this all the time! It really depends on the floor. I'll pick something up off a floor I know to be clean, but you would NEVER see me pick something up off the ground or the kennel room and put it in my mouth!

Nope, my dogs eats it:D

/
guilty,I snap food off the floor before the 5 seconds is up

I am pleading the 5th... LOL;)

Sometimes, but only at home, or at the home of the person I babysit for (ok so I admit occasionally snatching one or 2 cheerios from the toddler), but that's because I know those floors are clean. At school the 5 second rule doesn't even apply to food that touches the table. Whenever there's a fight in the cafeteria people jump up on the tables and stand on them to watch, and that's gross.

I voted for 10 seconds, but it only applies to my home. And you do have to give it a look, and make sure it didn't land on something that's been down there longer, that's just gross.

"Heck, no!" :teeth: Anything that lands on the floor is then the dogs' possession. :teeth:

As a kid I did now I'm too germ phobic for that! DH does. I leave mine for the cats.

Nope, never. Once it lands it's lost forever. Besides if the dogs are around it won't last 5 seconds on the floor.:teeth:
