We decided to fly to Disney instead of driving at the last minute. We booked ME. However, it doesn't look like we will get our yellow tages in time. I was advised of the procedure of keeping my claim ticket and just bring it to the ME check in counter and they will get our luggage, but i was curious if anyone has ever done it this way. I know this is typical, but I am curious if anyone has done this and had a bad experience. The fear of not getting our luggage is making me really nervous. Any experience with this? TIA!

You will not be able to go directly to the line for the buses.

You will go to the ME counter. Have your baggage claim tickets ready to give to the CM. They may also ask you to describe your bags, or give you a picture of several bags and ask you to choose the picture that most closely resembles your bags.

They will call down to the baggage claim area with the info and there will be people pulling your bags and getting them for transfer and tagging them for your resort.

I will tell you a long story that will ease your mind.

The first year, I went down on the land/sea package and a couple near me had no clue what yellow baggage tags were, baggage claim tickets were, what flight they had come in on. They never read the wonderful information packet that the TA gave them after booking their trip. They had no idea what resort they were going to - they just kept saying all they knew was that they were going to Disney World and the travel agent said Disney would take care of everything.

After finally remembering what airline they were on, the ME called the airline and was able to retrieve all their information, number of bags, baggage claim tickets, called CRO to find out what resort they were going to go to, and were in the process of getting hold of the cruise line to get their transfers for the next leg of their trip shipped to their resort, so they would have a much easier time.

So I wouldn't sweat it.

Thanks! That does make me feel better. However, I hope the process doesn't take too long to locate/tag our luggage ... the 7 kids under 7 will get restless quickly. We're leaving in 11 days, so there's still hope that we get our yellow tags in time.

You don't have to stick around while they are looking for it; once you give them the information, they will send you right onto the bus.

That's great. I'm starting to relax now. I will be certain to take pics of the luggage before I leave the house.

Thanks again.

I had to do this when I went two weeks ago. We had reserved ME way in advance but never got our luggage tags. We debated just picking up our bags ourselves but we flew Southwest and really didn't want to have to walk the whole length of the airport with them.

We went to the counter, gave them our claim numbers, then got on the bus. We got to the resort, checked in, put our carryon stuff in the room, then went to get our refillable mugs and explore the resort a little. We were gone for maybe 30 minutes to an hour. When we got back to our room our bags were ready and waiting for us :goodvibes

Last time I used ME, I booked too close and didn't get my yellow tags, either. I went to the baggage carousel and got my own luggage and brought it to ME with me.

In some ways this was better since I had immediate access to my luggage once I got to the room.
