What order are the rental car companies in in Terminal A? I have my 89 yo mother with me, and I leave her at Bag Claim (with the bags) while I go pick up the rental car, and then circle back to pick her and my DH up. To make the walk longer, we fly on SWA...the LAST airline on the end in the terminal. I really don't want to walk the ENTIRE length of the terminal. It at least USED to be that Dollar was on the opposite end; I made that mistake ONCE. :sad1: So, what's the order of the rental companies? I'm assuming that the associated area in the garage is "opposite" the counter area.

Thanks!

The order of the rental car counters isn't going to help you much I don't think. The garage is a ways down from baggage claim and some agencies are on the same level as the rental car counters and some are a level up. They aren't really "opposite" their interior counters. You're going to walk just about the same distance no matter which onsite agency you use. If you want to save some steps, use an agency that allows you to check in online and bypass the inside counter completely.

I agree.

I would recommend to the OP to sign up for a program that allows renters to bypass the counter, such as National Car Rental Emerald Club, Hertz Number One Gold, Avis Preferred, or a number of numbers.

OP can pick up the car while 89-yo Mom and the rest of the family wait at the curb on the arrival level, just outside their flight's baggage claim. OP can then pull up the curb and load passengers and luggage.

This way, walking is minimized.

Thanks!

I have Alamo (but if I use a coupon, I still have to go to the kiosk). Last time I used them, and it was under the same circumstances. The Skycap actually wheeled my mom to the car. All in all, Alamo wasn't too bad.

When I used Dollar, they were the FIRST lot in the garage when I returned the car and it was a loooooooonnnnnng walk. I won't ever do that again.

Just was wondering how some of the other companies were. Knowing that the "garage" isn't necessarily across from the counter is quite helpful. And skipping the kiosk/counter is helpful as well.

Before you return your car, drop off the other passengers and the luggage on the departure level where the sign shows your airline. You can get boarding passes and check bags with a skycap (if you haven't already used resort Airline Check-in at a Disney resort).

THEN, return your rental car and rejoin your family. The walk won't seem so long, regardless of the rental car company, if you're not dealing with luggage, children, or an elderly parent.

Yes, that's what I've been doing lately. I'm probably a whimp...that seemed like a long walk with them. :rotfl: But now that I think about it, that time I had DH with me and DIDN'T drop him first, and he's asthmatic. Learned my lesson on that one! (Bad wife. lol)
