Maytag Bravos vs Whirlpool Cabrio

I was told by the salesperson (who was really trying to sell me a front-loader) that the doors are all made to swing the same way and can NOT be changed??? I was looking at a 4.3cf washer/7.0?? (I think) dryer that was the Affinity (whirlpool) on clearance, last year's model, for $680 roughly for BOTH.... then found out about the door issue?? (Or maybe non-issue?)

I can't speak for the exact model you were looking at there but in general you can reverse the door swing on many models. I have done it myself. If when you open the door you see four screws that look like they serve no purpose, those are the in the place that you can move the hinge to. Then you can remove a few screws from the inside of the door itself and rotate the metal ring around to get the handle on the other side. It takes about 10 minutes. I guess not all models are like this but you should be able to find ones that can be changed.

We really researched the reviews before buying ours. We had time because my old ones were still working just not efficiently. LG and Samsung got the best reviews for the steam washer/dryer. We got a great deal on Black Friday on the LG and I've got to say I really love it.

There is another option I just thought of as well. Front load washers/dryers can also be stacked on each other. I don't know what your space is like but you can buy a kit so you can put the dryer on top of the washer and that may clear up the door swing issue.

They changed our doors when they delivered them so that they would swing the right direction with the walls. I think all the front loader doors can be changed.

Thanks everyone, I am DEFINITELY going back to the store to see if in fact the set on clearance can be changed. They would sell that one in a heartbeat if that is the case.

I also thought about just crutching along until BF ads are posted and see if there are any deals out there for washer/dryers. Will give that some more consideration. My DFIL is never home, and I know I could wash clothes there if needed, with no issues. My dryer is still working so I could dry at my own home.

Stacking is not an option unfortunately. Not where they are at now. We were considering moving them upstairs but that would require plumbing upstairs and at this time we are not sure where we would put them, as we're hoping to remodel the upstairs and add an addtl bedroom at some point. Sooo... hoping the doors can be switched! It's a great deal, $680-ish for both I think.....

Appreciate all the help!
