May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread

Hi I was just wondering if anyone from this cruise will be joining us on the 18th sept 2010 TransAtlantic cruise.

We won't; however, Susan said she'd like to do a Panama Canal cruise. Next one of those would be January 2011 on the Wonder. I guess I need to look into that. :)

I'm lucky that I still have sick days and some floating holiday....that covers things like going home for my niece's first birthday in June but it certainly makes me plan my time better. Now that I live away from my family (again) they seem to think I should visit them instead of go on vacation!

Jill
Funny, my family feels the same way! :confused3

It's likely to be the only one for a while, too, as I don't think there are any plans to bring the Wonder back any time soon. It's going to alternate between Alaska & the Mexican Riviera. And the Dream is too big for the Panama Canal. So unless they decide to send the Magic West also...

I am on that cruise with my DH Carl. We booked this cruise way back when the details first came out. How about you ? Who are you travelling with ?.

You are definitely the engineer Jeff

"Stateroom Crawl Plan

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I read in the Trans-Atlantic thread that their stateroom crawl was a bit disorganized resulting in too many people trying to see too small a space at once. So the engineer/organizer in me screams we need a plan.

My thoughts are that we meet in the Lobby atrium after the DIS wine tasting (approx. 2 pm) and from there send off groups of about 8-10 every 3-5 minutes. The stateroom hosts would all start off in Group 1. Each group would take the forward elevator (or stairs if you want/need exercise) to Deck 8, port side (left). The tour route would be:

I like the plan and agree it is needed.

Donna and I have been looking at the Panama Crossing as well but it is scheduled at a real bad time, the girls head back to school during that time.

Wish I could help out with everyone's vacation time, I am maxed out and accrue more per year than I can possibly take. My nephew is getting married while we are on the Med Cruise so I don't have to worry about taking time off for that.

It's actually at a bad time for us too...it overlaps the Disney marathon week and we were seriously thinking about doing the Goofy challenge - half marathon on Saturday and marathon on Sunday.

This will probably be the last vacation for me for awhile. I'm just getting done with being in school for the past 23 years and I really need to find a job, settle down and pay off my student loans. I can see myself going on a 7 night cruise in 2012 on the Fantasy but I think I'm going to be all traveled out after this trip.

I work to travel. I'll get my student loans paid off about 2 days before I die. :rotfl: But I'll have filled my bucket list!

I say this all the time, but it's never true! :rotfl:

Just saw this posted on the main Cruise board about transfers from the port to the airport. Interesting point is that there is not much at the airport past security/passport control as to shopping/eating/restrooms.

This must depend on which terminal in the airport. I flew from Barcelona to Paris after a cruise in 10/2008 and there was quite a few stores/duty free shops/restaurants in the terminal we flew out of. We were on Vueling (cheapy EU airline).

Cat. 4 - 8010 - Host Dopeyfan1966 (Cindy)

Walk aft, remaining on port side:

Cat. 3 - 8102 - Host rashdecision (Rob)

Take aft stairs or aft elevator to Deck 6 aft port side:

Cat.5/6 - 6152 - Host jedijill (Jill)

Walk forward and starboard side:

Cat. 8 - 6508 - Host kehonuamemano (Rayna)

Take forward stairs/elevator down to Deck 5 forward, starboard side:

Cat. 11/12 Sideways Cabin - 5005 - Host Welsh Girl

Walk aft, starboard side:

Cat. 7 - 5638 - Host pilar7 (Pilar)

Take aft elevator/stairs to Deck 2. Walk forward, port side (left):

Cat. 9 - 2010 - Host Florida Princess (Jean)

As each host in Group 1 reaches their stateroom, they stay as other groups come through and then join the last group so they can see the rest of the staterooms. I combined the Cat. 5 and 6 since the rooms are the same and the verandahs of a Cat. 5 are the same as what we'll see in Cindy's Cat. 4. Sound good? Oh, and after all that walking we may need to visit the Promenade Lounge or other suitable venue for adult beverages. :drinking1

Sounds like a plan. How will we know which one is the last group? I am excited about getting to see all of the other cabins. :)

All Traveled Out ? I thought that was only a work term. I was able to stop most of my business travel 3 years ago and am still traveling off the banked frequent flyer and hotel points. Hated business travel but love vacation travel, have visited 47 states, over 2/3 of the US Counties and 4 Continents, now just need a Panama Cruise.

I think they were specifically referring to after security/passport control in Terminal 1. Guess we will have to see. :)

That was after security, but I can't recall which terminal we flew out of. We had almost 3 hours to kill at the airport before our flight and were able to grab food + do a little last minute souvenir shopping. Hopefully most of us won't have to sit in the airport that long ;)

We have rented car for around $120 that holds 5 I think. We are still planning on doing the zipline/rope adventure course at least the family is. I am designated photographer. That park is in same town as tortoise sanctuary but we have plenty of those at Honolulu zoo and family knows zookeeper so we have fed those already. After the adventure park we plan on doing the loop through the Prunelli gorge and back to town to find that candy factory. We could change and do Les Calanches.

AlohaJoe23

Hey AlohaJoe23,
I had a quick question about the zip lining adventure that you are going on...is that park open all year long because when i was trying to research it some say its open thru june-aug. This park sounds perfect for my family too because i have two daughters 24 & 21 and they love outdoor activities. If you know that the park is for sure open will you leave a message on the board for me i would really appreciate it.

Thank you, Kia :goodvibes

Agree 100%. I do my best to avoid work travel as I've been to most every place that has an aerospace contractor. On the other hand, I LOVE vacation travel...love it.

Ok, tablemates and anyone else who might see me at dinner, I have a question for you. Do you think it would be bad if I didn't pack a skirt to wear at dinner for any of the semi-formal/formal nights. Im thinking of only bringing a pair of nice black pants with a few nice blouses. I really have to cut down on what I'm bringing because of my European tour afterwards. So do you think I would be ok?

You guys aren't helping me. I'm trying to stop myself from booking another cruise while onboard. I would love to do the TA in May next year.

I'll be wearing dress pants most nights too. I hate wearing dresses. :)
