May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread

Congrats to everyone on their upgrades. Just for the record..this is my 4th Disney cruise and first upgrade ever.

Always remember...book the category you are happy with.

Booked Cat 12 and got cat 12.

Maybe some of you may still get last minute changes. I spent a couple hours today to go back to my original stateroom, we really wanted to be where we were so the upgrade to deck 7 was not a bonus for us. I am sure the poor people at Disney are still scratching their heads wondering why we wanted to go back but they were accommodating in getting us back.

Like everyone else we are happy to be on the ship and now there is an opening in 7538 they can still hand out.

What category/room did you wanted initially? I know, I am being nosy. Just trying to understand if there is something magical about the initial selection?

Has anyone that's booked here called to see if they actually opened on 3/29 like they were supposed to?

I noticed several of the other Med cruises are doing lanyards with the acrylic badgeholders & name tags for the DISers so they'll be able to recognize each other on the cruise. Those that have cruised with Disney before are Castaway Club members and will get DCL lanyards/acrylic holders during the embarkation process.

For new DCL cruisers, plain lanyards and badgeholders are about 50 cents total US if 100 are ordered. We could take one of the designs tripodjw created and modify it a little to put people's DIS board name and first name on it.

Sooooo...what do you all think? Name tags, lanyards, yes/no?

I am guessing there is no logic just pure Luck? None the less we are so excited to be going... On a cold Snowy day in UT all I can think about is being in the Med with my awesome hubby and Mickey Mouse... Really does it get any better?

Also, on the revenue theory, Picket Fence booked a Cat 10 GTY and therefore paid more than those of us booking a Cat 12 GTY, yet they got a Cat 10 room. I think that shoots that logic down. Still searching for logic...

Well I checked and we got cabin 1062(cat 9) - most of the reviews talk about consistent noise that is difficult to sleep through. Some even claim that this room should be less than a cat 12 - YIKES!!! I was ok with wherever we ended up but I do want to be able to sleep. I'm almost wishing we wouldn't have been upgraded...

Haven't checked on Hotel Novotel but did receive the email about the grand opening.
