We survived the wind at Lake Tahoe and are back home. On our first and only run on the second day, the wind was 100 mph at mid mountain and literally blew all of us back uphill. We made it down the mountain and called it a day. It was so scary... and our 7yo screamed and cried the whole time!

BTW - please bear with me updating roll call and FE list with room nos i'm on holiday this week so logging in when i get chance.
Jane

Have a fanastic time on your holiday!

Oh well, off to France and wine country to drink away my sorrows tomorrow! :lmao:

That sounds pretty wonderful. Have a good time.

Still no cabin assignment, the suspense is awful :sad1:.
Can all of you peeps who have got your cabin no's, send some pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: too all of us who are still waiting please. :)
:wizard::wizard: Lots of pixie dust for those still waiting!

I have another idea about splitting the FE... if not by rooms w/ and w/o kids, we can split them by decks... or by forward/aft of the ship? Sorry, it's the engineer in me thinking of efficiency.

Actually that sounds good... Minimize the # of steps required to go room to room!!

Engineers, with our "logic" and "efficiency". We're such nerds Connie. ::yes::

For those still waiting for assignments... :coffee::bored:

Much pixiedust to you. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

For those that didn't get upgraded: :grouphug:

We should start getting our cruise docs late next week. It's getting closer! :cool1:

Still no sign of room assignments here. As with everyone else on this board that is still waiting - the suspense is killing me.

For the record :
1st DCL cruise
2 excursions booked
Palo dinner booked
Living in Spain

If I were you, I'd call DCL and tell them you've read on the DIS boards (they know all about the DIS) that Cat 12 GTY guests were being upgraded and that it doesn't seem fair that you paid more for a higher category and didn't get upgraded. What have you got to lose?

I also notice we don't have you on the Roll Call. Would you like to be added? :)

Hi Jeff,

I called DCL about the cat 10 room we have and asked about an upgrade and the woman just said it was random and nothing could be done about it. I asked what the cost would be to upgrade the one room and the only thing they had open was a cat 7 and wanted to charge use over $2,000 for the upgrade :scratchin ($8,200 for the cat 7 minus the $6,100 for the cat 10)

As a skier that sounds scary! I know my 7 year old would have cried the whole way down...we are headed to Whistler next week, I'm not sure what to expect condition wise? We live on the East Coast, and have had such a mild winter.

I did call and they said that it was not true that people would not be upgraded from a 12 to 6. After going back and forth with them, I decided to cancel this cruise as well as the other ones that were booked.

Sleigh,

So sorry that you had so much trouble with DCL and cancelled :sad2:

Both reservations I have received a $200 on board credit. Did anyone else receive this?

For those who booked this cruise prior to a certain date (sometime in November) Disney gave each person in the cabin a $100 OBC. I am assuming that is what it is from.

DCL is kind of between a rock and a hard place with upgrades. As an example, on a previous Med cruise thread, a party booked a Cat 10 room specifically because they wanted to be inside, they wanted the split bathroom and they wanted the extra storage space (steamer trunk) that comes with that category. DCL, trying to make the customer happy, upgraded them to an outside room, perhaps even with a verandah, and they HATED that they were upgraded. They booked that particular room/category because that's what they wanted! So, is DCL to assume that those that booked inside wanted inside or assume that everyone wants an upgrade? If it were me, I'd call the guest and ask but I guess they don't have the staff/time to do that. :confused3

I'd guess that DCL isn't fond of cruise discussion boards at times like this because if they didn't exist, those with upgrades would be happy and those that received what they booked would be happy.

We just got our room assignment. We booked a 12 and got a 9 sooooo I won't complain. They only thing is that it is on deck 1 and we usually stay on deck 6. Can anyone tell me what to expect... besides alot of stairs to get to the quiet cove pool :rotfl2:

Ok just got my room assignment as 2134, :cool1:

I've been so excited to get my room number I have just realised I have no idea how to check what category/location it is!!! I:rotfl:Can someone point me in the right direction please!! :lovestruc

Go HERE and enter your stateroom number. It'll tell you the category, and also give past guest comments on your room. Also will open a ship layout if you click on the room number to show you where it is.

It's deck 2 aft, Category 9 outside stateroom with window.

I stayed in a CAT 10 here. I really liked it, it was really quiet and there arent that many people down there. Depending on where you are located you might hear the engine some.

We were on deck 2 with a Cat 9 on our Mex Riviera cruise. We loved it. Getting off the ship at ports is easier. Lower in the ship equates to an overall smoother ride. We didn't mind the stairs...getting the exercise made us feel less guilty about all we were eating and drinking. :)

woohoo, Thanks for your help Jeff. I'm so excited that we have a window!!:banana: Fingers crossed for all those still waiting, hopefully you will all get some pixie dust!! :wizard: Not long now till we go!!

If you are still interested in doing the group Palo brunch, please PM or email me the last name your reservation was booked under and your reservation number(s). I promise I will not share this information with anyone else besides DCL. I can't submit the request until I have the last names and reservation numbers.

I have created 3 groups based on the people who replied in the thread *AND* have sent me their information.

Edit: I talked with the reservationist this morning. Basically I have to fax the information in to the Palo Cruise Activities Specialist, with first and last names and reservation numbers of all parties, sail date and my contact information. The Palo CAS will get back to me 25-30 days prior to sailing to let me know if the request is granted or not. Let me emphasize, any of you that were lucky enough to get brunch reservations online - DO NOT cancel those reservations.

Here is the final list I'm faxing in today. Remember, none of this is guaranteed...it is a request only so if you were lucky enough to already have Palo brunch reservations, DON'T cancel them! :)

Those that emailed/PM'd me that aren't on the list...sorry. If someone changes their mind and drops out, I'll be happy to add you.

If the request isn't granted by DCL and you want to do brunch/dinner or tea at Palo and do not yet have reservations:

1) Keep checking back online at DCL for cancellations. As we get closer to the cruise date, they seem to come available as people alter their excursion/spa/dining plans.

2) We will know from the 2 Med cruises before us where DCL is taking Palo reservations on Embarkation day. As soon as you get aboard, make a bee-line to that Palo desk and try to book then. Even if they have nothing available, put your name on the wait list.

You can still check at the port on embarkation day in Barcelona. Upgrades at the port are WAY cheaper than they are prior to embarkation. With the shifting around they've done, I have a hard time believing there won't be any upgrades available at the port!

3 of the 4 cruises I've done so far (not Disney), I've been on deck 1 or deck 2. It's very quiet, smooth ride, close to the main dining rooms, and makes debarkation *much* easier. And I'm with Jeff. I always take the stairs to allow myself some dessert at dinner... Congrats on the window! :cool1:

Congrats! :yay:

And I'm joining in on the pixiedust wishes for those still waiting for assignments! :wizard::wizard: pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Thanks for doing the group Palo brunch requests, Jeff!!!! :thumbsup2 :lovestruc
