Weeks until we sail! :woohoo:

Hey there fellow Coloradan! Where in Colorado are you?

Hey!! We are in the Denver metro area.....Centennial. How about yourself? We L-O-V-E Colorado!! :thumbsup2

We're technically in Aurora, but about 2 blocks from a "Welcome to Centennial" sign. We're a block away from Trails Rec Center. We too LOVE Colorado!

And now I have to ask....just noticed a countdown for an Alaskan cruise. Which cruise are you going on, DH and I are going on an Alaska cruise this year too!

Hey gang! Hope all are doing well this week!

I love seeing all the happy, smiling faces that will be on the cruise with us. That's so awesome! Now if I can just commit all the faces to memory... :goodvibes

The stranger-danger talk reminded me of something hilarious that Chandler did just before Christmas. Not to make light of the subject. I'm glad all the moms of smaller kiddos are so guarded. That's a good thing. :thumbsup2 Anywhoo, it was just before Christmas and I was shopping at a fabric store with my mother-in-law and oldest son, Chandler. We were in the store and I needed a piece of fabric I already had out in the car to match some other fabric to. I sent Chandler back out to go grab it for me. The joys of having big boys! He wasn't gone all that long when he returned with what I needed. He then proceeded to tell me what just happened to him in the parking lot. He said when he got to the car he saw a guy walking in his general direction but went about getting the fabric for me. He locked the car back and was headed back to the store when the man approached him asking for money. Picture my son, a big stocky boy every bit as tall as me and I'm 5'9". I asked him, "What did you do? What did you say?" Chandler replied, "I didn't know what to do, Mom. I never had that happen before. I just did the very first thing that popped into my mind. I started yelling as loud as I could 'STRANGER DANGER!!! STRANGER DANGER!!!' and ran back to the store." I died laughing at the thought of it. I told him he did a very good job. But then I had to ask, "What did the man do when you started yelling?" Chandler said, "I didn't wait around to find out. I looked back over my shoulder when I was running and he was running in the opposite direction." I can only imagine! :rotfl2: Love it! :lmao: So you mama's keep up the good work. The little things you teach the kiddos now will stay with them!

We're on the September 3rd sailing. I think it's the last one this season. We picked that one because the route looked a little more interesting. I'm hoping to save some $$$ when we re-shop it on board in May! :)

More pictures! I love them all! Looks like we have quite a happy group going on this cruise. :goodvibes

Kelly, this has to be one of the most hilarious stories I have heard. Good for your DS remembering what to do...I can only imagine what they guy thought of him! :rotfl2:

How crazy is this!!! You live about 2 miles from us, and we are going on two cruises together this year! DH and I are also on the Sept 3rd cruise, and actually doing a B2B with the repo on the 10th!! :cool1: We have always wanted to do the Alaska and this was the cheapest one. Also, we like the longer cruises, (done 2 TAs) and with the repo cruise following it was an easy decision.

We were originally scheduled for the repo Vancouver to LA but the flights were going to cost as much or more than the cruise itself so we changed it...twice! Sailing out of PC isn't so bad for us because we can drive that. :cutie:

You know the price has dropped twice on the December PC since the release, right? Man, PC is totally on our bucket list but hubby taking off 2 weeks would be brutal. He works contract and doesn't get paid when he's not at work. Often-times his missed pay is as much or more than the trips we take so our vacation budgets have to be doubled to compensate. :headache: :cool2:

That is wild! We probably work together too and just don't know it ;) Do you have kids going with you? We've got an almost 5-year old son.

There are a lot of people doing the B2B cruise. That's WAY too much time off from work for us (not to mention expensive!). We've always dreamed of Alaska and figured this was the way to go, especially with the 5 year old. How many cruises have you done? Alaska was to be our first, but then our spring Hawaii trip was crazy expensive this year and we kind of fell into the Bahamas cruise as an alternative.

Are you guys in the FE???

Here we are!!!

Weeks until we sail! :woohoo:

10 WEEKS!! 10 more weeks, and then I'm piggin' out!!

I just finished my FE and I couldn't help it. I have to show it to you guys!
OurFE-1.jpg

It turned out perfect and the embroidery only cost me $36.00 so that puts the grand total at $52.00 for 4 pockets. Not bad, most of my projects get crazy out of control, not this one. Yeah!! When I saw this design on Etsy I just had to make it.

Kelly that story is TOO FUNNY!!! I totally was picturing it and LOL :lmao:

LOOOVE it!!! You did a great job!

Holy guacamole!

I fall on my bum and boom! We've doubled our forum!! Maybe I should fall on my bum more often .... nah. :lmao: (Ok, I just used the emoticon LMAO.) Hehe After nearly 2 weeks, I think I'm almost back to pain-free squats. (It's wreacked havoc on my workouts.)

Anyway, a big (albeit late) welcome to all the newcomers!!

:welcome: Kelly, Saraoonie, Patti Razo, DVCTigger, Jetflyer (loved that vid)!! :welcome:

Sararoonie - I was born in Taiwan and haven't been back since I was 9. Can't wait to hear how things have changed!!

Sweetpee - Love your nickname because that's what DH calls me too! Also, that story about your son "Stranger Danger" just nearly made me spew my herbal tea. :rotfl: Love it!

Luz - Don't worry about your daughters' English. At that age, they'll be loved no matter what. They sound like extroverts anyway, so they will be JUST FINE. I was really worried about my DS going to the kids' club by himself when we last cruised. He just turned 3 at the time. Even though I pretty much stayed at the club with him the whole time, he had NO problem whatsoever. Keep in mind that most schools in the States are teaching Spanish in elementary now, so maybe some of their new friends can practice their Spanish while your daughters practice their English. :thumbsup2

Teri - I love, love, love your FE! Etsy rocks!

Many of you had shared concerns about putting your child(dren)'s name(s) on the FE's. While I totally understand the fear of predators (I check our state registry about once a week), that's 1 of the reasons we chose to cruise with DCL. Their security, esp. at the clubs and on/offboarding are amazing. Besides, we really don't let our DS out of our sights, so maybe I'm a bit more laxed about it. One major consolation is since we'll be on a cruise, it's not like anyone can take your kid off the ship. Those bracelet scanners will catch them post haste!!

As I finally caught up on 10 pages of new posts, I've come to realize that I'm soooo behind on my DCL planning this time around. Not sure if it's because I think I can wing it or I'm too busy lately or I've just gotten plain lazy, but I think we're the only cruisers with absolutely NO plans/reservations. In fact, we're likely going to change staterooms at check-in. And, this is so NOT like me!! :sad2: I'll do better. The good news is the most we would prob do is make reservations at Palo and maybe a spa service. With DS still napping in the afternoon (halleluiah!), it does make it more difficult to sightsee, so we'll probably just make ressies at Palo and maybe a spa treatment, which is just fine by me. I could use a week of doing absolutely nothing. :cool1:

Speaking of planning - I can't remember the limo service we used last time getting from MCO to the Port. Can anyone recommend a good car service (preferably reliable & CHEAP)? :lmao:

Lastly, for those of you who are still on the fence re: FE's - as NIKE says ... Just do it! You WON'T regret it, I promise. It's 1 of the best things we did - both the giving and the receiving. My DS would literally race to our cabin just to see what surprises may be awaiting us. As for the "extra work," it really doesn't have to be anything grand ... although there definitely were some super grand gifts from our last cruise. It could just be a small keepsake or candy from your hometown, state, etc. We kept everything in a box, and my DS and I would still comb through it and reminesce. Love it.

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone and keep the excitement going!! :woohoo:

Take care!
Annabel

Oh wow! You did a fantastic job! Love it!

I'm still expecting some of the materials I ordered to make ours in the mail. I wanted to do something really different and work my artistic skills a little. I'm excited, tho! Already working on the FE crafts, too. Yay!
