May 5, 2010 Magic of Barcelona

Hi all,
We are from the UK, and as I may have mentioned before, unless booking direct with Disney, here in the UK you do not get a choice of staterooms. There are only 2 companies over in the UK that I know of which are officially affiliated with Disney to sell this cruise. They are Virgin and Iglu and we do not get the choice, its inside, outside, or outside with balcony, that's it. So I guess I have the GTY? as well. the prices are still very competitive for inside cabins, and Virgin told me they have over sold interior cabins?? So now confused if full or not. Hey as long as I am not right above, below or next to the disco so my little girl (4) and son (2) don't get woke up and my wife likes the room then I will be happy.:rotfl: I agree with the previous UK post, unless your a already a Disney addict and linked to this site or had a previous disney cruise, it was not an easy site to find, that's why us from the UK may be a little behind. Steve

I am sure they over sold the inside cabins. They are the cheapest by far and disney knows they can move you anywhere they want if they sell you one of those and I bet disney will keep on selling them right up to the cut off date. That's the thing though, with this GTY you just do not know where you will be, you only know that you will be! It really is anyones guess how over sold the inside rooms are, but I am sure they are way oversold for the very low prices they were asking. This is how they will try to fill up the boat. I bet over 50% of the passengers are GTY status if not more! But this being the case, the boat can be quite full. I sure would like to be that lucky GTY person that gets a nice 6 cat upgrade! This whole GTY thing is like a lotto. If they sell the entire boat in GTY inside, some lucky person (if not a bunch of them) will end up with a nice room with a veranda! I am hoping to be upgraded to a cat 10, anything under that is a huge bonus!

Thanks for that, what are the best areas to be once allocated a room? Deck 1 looks nice and out the way, albeit very low down, good for stability though. Deck 8 looks like the really expensive rooms, so no chance there. My fear with Decks 2 and 5 is that the larger indoor entertainments, discos, restaurants etc seem then to be located above or below you. Will this disturb young children. Do you get any options once allocated to express concern on your allocated location? I have only ordered an inside, so what and where would be a right result? Once allocated will it appear in my log in?

Just hope for the lowest number you can get! Being that you booked cat 12 inside, they can put you anywhere they want because cat 12 inside is the lowest you can book so they guarantee you at "least" what you paid for but chances are you will be moved to a better room in a better category, but that is not guaranteed either!

I say yes, yes to the meet and greet... maybe Day 2 - the first day at sea, as suggested earlier? We could meet in the morning after breakfast, let the kids meet too, and then they can all go together to the camp area!!! I am hoping to get my kids acclimated early to the camp area so we can have some R&R. I need to meet you wild brits and the USAers who are as crazy as us to bring our young children on LONG plane rides overseas. I just can't get this trip out of my head. Wish we were going tomorrow.

Hey everyone. I am iffy about participating with the FE's. It is our first cruise, and so I'd like to be involved, but we are leaving our 16 month old at home so it is just my husband and I. Could we collect stuff to bring to her? Certainly sounds like fun to brighten your little ones days. :)

Ah what a lovely idea. Of course you can hun. Why not do one for yourself and hubby and one for your little one. You will get loads of goodies to take home for them :) You need to put your name on here before the cut off:

Okay, so I just checked for a room assignment (which I do obsessively) and there was a little bar under it saying I could upgrade to a deluxe oceanview for 131.00 per person per day. That would be 3900.00 for us. Seems expensive. Either way, they must be close to doing room assignments if they are offering the upgrades now.

That does seem high...but good to see they are starting with paid upgrades, at least. Now, bring on the free stuff!

Hey, only 50 days to go!!!

The ship won't be empty, by any means, but will feel a lot less crowded than a spring break or summer cruise. I've cruised DCL twice before, once for springbreak and once in Sept....the Sept. cruise felt more relaxing. Lines were shorter for photos and characters and seats were easier to find everywhere. I think we are all going to have a blast!!

Starting to feel super excited as it gets closer.....hoping it gets warmer, lots warmer! Still snow on the ground here.

My DD has a countdown calendar that she marks off every day...she also loves to see the countdown timer on here :lovestruc

Palo brunch is still showing availability for our cruise.....book it if you haven't already. It is my fav meal on the ship, I like it even more than Palo dinner!!

I sure hope you are not paying that fee! You will probably get it for free anyway and if you don't, I bet they offer you something at the port.

By the way, is this the area where you check for your room assignment:

Only 50 days until your cruise sets sail!
Cruise:
10-Night Mediterranean Cruise - Alternate Itinerary (5/5/10)
Ship:
Disney Magic
Sail Date:
May 05, 2010
Stateroom:
Standard Inside Stateroom Category 12, #GTY
Modify The ability to modify your booking online is not available at this time; please call Disney Cruise Line at (800) 951-3532 or contact your Travel Agent to make changes to your booking.

Also, the palo brunch is greyed out as an option for me. Must get snatched up quickly as people cancel.

Yep, that is where it usually shows up for me. We won't pay that for the upgrade. I'd rather spend the money in the ports!

Got excited then  We really want to book Palo for Brunch but it is still showing not available for me. Do people who have been before think we have any chance now of booking the Palo for either brunch or high tea?

Interesting...when I look, it says reservations for brunch are available for parties of 1-2. Is it b/c you have more adults in your party, I wonder?

On our booking there is 2 adults and 2 children but we have linked bookings with 2 other families. Could this be why we can't book???? Is there another way of booking it as well as online?

I believe they hold back some slots for each Palo event for booking onboard, but you need to do that asap after you get on. The only thing I can figure is that I show availability because I previously booked it and it will let me rebook it? I really have no idea.

I'm really sorry! I wouldn't have mentioned it, if I would have known that it wouldn't allow everyone to book it. It did say parties of 1-2....hmmmm. Is it possible to call and have DCL book it for you? I would love for everyone on our thread who wants it, to be able to get it. It couldn't hurt to call, right?

I did book ours way back when it first opened up for silver, but it shouldn't be allowing me to switch around unless their is availabilty for all. I also made tea ressies way back, and that says no availabilty now.....odd.
