May 5, 2010 Magic of Barcelona

Welcome Steve! I will have a 4 year old daughter with me as well. She'll be off on the excursions with us most of the time, but I do plan to plant her in the Club while my mom and I enjoy Palo brunch and dinner, as well as some spa stuff. Hope to meet up with you and your family!

I ended up doing the mickey voice myself lol.

That's just precious, Lemonbee! The things we do for our kids!

We finally booked our Disneyland Paris portion of the trip. For some unknown reason, Disney will apparently black out dates for US residents to book until those dates "open up". All of Europe can book them, but not the US. Whatever. I got what I wanted....CASTLE CLUB, BABY, YEAH!!!! We'll spend 5 nights there before heading down to Italy on EasyJet (which sounds like Southwest without the Southern charm, as far as I can tell) for a few days before flying over to Barcelona on the 4th. Whew. I'm tired just thinking about it! But, I can't wait.

Its a good thing that I have packing to obsess about over the next month or so, now that I've gotten all this trip stuff planned. The desire to constantly be in planning mode is getting expensive though, lol. Who's rebooking on board??? Are ya with me??? We have the repo and 1st Alaska cruise booked for next year, as well as a double-dip Dream cruise in August. Going to reprice onboard and see.

Hi all,
There will be plenty of Brits on the cruise I am sure, its just we did not find this forum very easily, I wondered why there was not much traffic on cruise critic.
Anyway, how do I find out what room I have? I have booked inside, as the cost between inside cabin and outside was massive, too much to justify the difference and I know the kids will be safe inside. Now I find that there is more than one option of inside staterooms with varying sizes and standards, so lord knows what I got as in the UK through 'Virgin as I said it was inside one price, outside cabin another price, that was it. No selecting which number you wanted!. Can I find out my room number on my reservation planning centre with the account number I have received from Disney? I take it as I cant book Palo brunch, I take it that means its full? I have registered my children with the clubs and now we are deciding which Disney trips we would like to join, and which stops we will do our own thing, as the Disney trips seem quite steep in price. Thanks for the tips. Steve

Hi steve,

We haven't been allocated our room numbers yet or upgrades. If you have booked a cat 12 inside room then the chances are that you will be upgraded. We keep looking everyday for our room numbers as we think they will be allocated anytime soon.

There's loads of great info on this forum about DIY trips. We are only doing one organised trip, all the other days we are doing it alone as it will save us a fortune.

Have you looked on the FE threads? There is one of running for our trip and it will be loads of fun. You will need to be quick if you decide to join. Here's the link to our FE thread:

Thanks for the reply
Great I will look out for the room. Sorry to be naive, but what is fish extenders? I have never heard of it or how it works, an outline guidance would be of benefit before any commitments, many thanks.
As for trips, my wife and I did Rome as part of our honeymoon 6 years ago, so will stay on board that day with the kids booked to Nursery for the evening so we can do Palos. Taken organised trip for Tunis, we will probably play it by ear for the rest, although keen to have a look at Florence and Pisa and the train trip in France looks fun, but I cant believe it is not possible to do this independently for much less.:thumbsup2

Can we please decide on a cut-off date for the FE's? Anyone else wanting to participate please leave your info on the following thread.

Time's closing in and I'm sure all those participating would like to get the numbers ASAP!

If nobody objects, let's make the official cut-off date for the FE this Friday (3/19). That gives one last week for people to make decisions. I'll post this authoritarian directive on the official FE board too. :teacher:

Thanks. I was also going to suggest that date!

Random question, but are we planning to do a cruise meet at all? This may have been mentioned already... or maybe I am just thinking way ahead because I'm excited :goodvibes

this board is so quiet compared to the April 24 cruise. They have 117 pages as of now! How empty is this boat anyway???? I imagine room assignments coming this week.

We are a quiet bunch, aren't we! I think there are probably a good number of Europeans that aren't on these boards that will be on the cruise, but yeah, it does seem like the ship won't exactly be super full. Hopefully, that will mean lots of pixie dust for people!

I don't recall anything being mentioned. I know a lot of groups do it on the first day, but I'm honestly not sure when we're going to get onboard. I'd like to be on by lunch and then go to our stateroom and let my daughter nap before the safety drill. Early seating will be shortly after the safety drill, I think. We could try something on day 2, while we're at sea. It would be nice to meet some other families and introduce my daughter (4) to some potential playmates!

It is really quiet on here. A friend of mine is going on 15th May and there thread is so busy.

I am from the UK and wouldn't have had a clue about this site if it wasn't for a friend telling me. DH and I had been looking at loads of forums for info but never managed to find this one. This forum is by far the best :)

Not sure about doing a meet as we will be in a group and non of them are really into going on internet forums so I doubt they would want to. But if you decide to please let me know the details and I will try to escape for a while to come and see you all.

I agree, it is quiet. On my cruise last May they had to open a second thread because it was so busy... but maybe we are just a different kind of enthusiastic :goodvibes I need to join the FB page, as well, but keep forgetting.

As for the cruise meet, we missed ours last year, but it would be fun to see everyone. I know it's usually done the first day, but I figured a lot of people will be busy seeing Barcelona that day. I think on my last cruise it was after lunch and before the safety drill, but I'm not sure since I missed it. Plus, it was out of Port Canaveral, so people were more likely to be onboard at that time. The sea day might be a good idea, though. I've heard of some cruise meets wearing little green bracelets or buttons to tell who the other DISers are.

We're flying in that day and don't have our flight details yet (since we booked through DCL) but I'm assuming we'd get there by lunch.

I'm also wondering about how full the ship is, as well, and looking forward to our room assignments :)

Hello May 5th cruisers! I'm from the May 15th cruise and we are lurking around your thread waiting anxiously for you folks to start getting your stateroom assignments. Should be this week, don't you think?

In terms of this thread being quiet, I don't see a roll call in the thread (usually on the first post). Do you know how many DISers you have on this cruise? One reason we're busy on our thread is that we've got 75 staterooms booked on the cruise so pretty close to 300 people. Anyway, best wishes and good luck on your room assignments! :shamrock:

Hi Jeff! I watch the other threads too! You have a great website for your cruise. It seems like GTY people should be hearing their assignments pretty soon.

I'm going to totally guess and say there are maybe 25-30 posters in this thread...does that sound right? Doesn't seem like that many different people. I should go back and count.

I don't care if the boat is empty or full, it's going to be a good time!

Hear, hear!!! I'll second that! An empty boat just means more alcohol for me!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!

This thread is so quiet because the boat is so empty. Right before they put the entire boat under gty, it was about 75% empty. I was actually able to pick 9 out of 10 staterooms of my choice in any category. Unless everyone booked a GTY room, the boat was pretty available about 1 month ago. I don't know if people usually book a specific stateroom or just go GTY as I did, but I would assume most people would want to choose their stateroom up front, but what do I know, it's my first disney cruise. Anyway, I am sure they sold more rooms, but I would be surprised if the boat was over 70% occupied.

I don't think there are 35 active posters here either. Maybe 20 or so. I don't care if the boat is empty or full, it's going to be a good time!

Thank you for the kind comments on the website sabrecmc. :)

If you've seen the site for the 5/26 cruise you'll notice a lot of similarities. Their site, built on a free web site service called weebly, is what inspired me to do one for our cruise. I used the same template as they did and have modeled some of our pages after theirs but also added pages they don't have based on suggestions from folks on our cruise. It's been a fun pulling it together.

downtick: My family did this cruise back in 2007 and we had an AMAZING time. It's going to be a blast. :yay:

There are 14 cabins doing FE's so far so there is at least 14 active members on here :)

If the boat is only 25% full then hopefully we will get good upgrades :woohoo: Also the service should be better, kids clubs not so full, pools half empty etc etc. So this could be a good thing :yay:

I do not think it is still 75% empty, but at most 75% full. I am thinking like 50%-75% occupied unless everyone who booked bought in at GTY like myself! I was very surprised though that a month ago 9 out of 10 staterooms I chose was available in 3 different categories. But if everyone bought GTY, the boat could be completely full as well so it really is anyones guess!
