May 27th 2007 Wonder Cruise. Anyone else on it?

Logan1:
What route are you taking to the Port?? With the fires in South GA/North FL, I am wondering of I-95 should be used?? Of course, the situation (hopefully) will be under control by then, but still am wondering about the drive down. You might be going down 75, whereas we will be further east and will hit I-95 around Brunswick....

Logan1 / Buddrose - I live 55 miles directly north of Port Canaveral. So far so good as far as I-95 travel goes within Volusia County. Can't say that I know what the conditions are in North Florida, though. As we get closer, if things change, I'll keep you posted here on the "boards".

Sack:cool2:

Logan1 - as a matter of fact, both of my sister's children (DS11 and DS5) as well as my DS8, love basketball. However, I checked w/my sister and he doesn't have email. We'll try to meet up on the ship. I've made cabin signs for our cabin doors that are VERRRRY hard to miss!

Sack:woohoo:

Thanks, Sack and Lori. I will encourage her to go to the Teen Loft. Her name is Nastasia and she doesn't have too much trouble meeting people once she takes that first big step of just putting herself out there. She's been on a couple Carnival cruises where she met some friends that way, so I'm not real sure why she's balking at this. I really think she thinks that a Disney cruise will be all about little kids, though people have told me they have things for all ages. Thanks again. :)

I live in Brunswick. I-95 is fine. The fires are 40 to 50 miles from here. As I posted before there is some construction through here but for the most part it flows pretty smooth. Just don't speed through the construction.

I got my documents yesterday. I'm assuming everyone else has theirs by now. My DD17 went through her clothes last night and picked her outfits for each day that we will be gone including a brief visit at WDW. She then wrote everything down for each day in case she wears one of the outfits before then. She wears uniform clothes to school so she probably won't be wearing much from her cruise list.

I think I'll have my boys do the same to make sure we all have enough clothes. We might even start putting some things in suitcases. Now for myself, I have a ton of ironing to do to get my clothes together.

We drove through the wildfire area on our very first trip to WDW with the kids in 1998. It was a little disorienting to drive through just like fog. That was one long trip! My husband said then that no matter what the airlines charge he will never drive it again. We'll see!!

Lori

Nope. Tom's documents still aren't here. Surely they will be here Monday. It seems kind of weird to me that they sent them separately. They were paid for together and are connecting staterooms. I guess it's because one is under his name and the other is under mine.

I like the idea of laying out outfits and listing them. I'm going to work on that with my bunch too. I know that I'll have to do laundry anyway since we are spending 4 days in the parks too.

Are y'all wearing your pirate costumes to dinner Tuesday night? What are you planning for your kids to do for dinner when we go to Palo?

Michele

Our party of 12 all received their documents. My Mom paid at the same time as we did, lives in our house and will be in the room next to us, but her docs still came a day after ours arrived.:confused3

I have the kids suitcase almost completely packed, except for their pirate costumes. I'll pull those out tomorrow. We were at urgent care this morning with both kids. DS 8 caught ringworm from his Grandma's cat and DS5 was vomiting with the stomach flu. Apparently it is making the rounds in our area. I'd rather the kids get sick now than on the cruise.

Hi, We're also onboard the Wonder on 5/27/07. We still didn't receive our documents and it's only 2 wks. until we sail. Every other cruiseline we've been on, the documents were here soon after final payment. This is our first Disney cruise. It's also our dd 1st cruise.

I hope disney could show us something different and more exciting. I'm really looking forward to it. Just from reading the posts in the past few months, Im glad to see that I'm not alone in obscessing about cruising.

See you all on the 27th!

Found the page with all of the Navigators, not just the most recent:

As far as travel, saw yesterday that I-75 and I-10 have closures. If those are taken care of by the 26th, I would travel that route, as our target for the evening is Titusville and Dixie Crossroads, so I-95 just north of the Beeline. If there is still a problem, then I'll just go on 75 south as far as Macon, then take I-16 East until it runs me into I-95 and go south from there.

:offtopic: Not intending to "get off topic here", but I thought I'd post the following!

Sunday: BAHAMA MAMA = Captain Morgan’s rum, CM’s coconut rum, grenadine, orange juice, pineapple juice

Monday: COOL BREEZE = CM’s white rum, de Kuyper Crème De Cassis (don’t know what the &$^# this is, but I’m sure it’s good) , pink grapefruit juice, cranberry juice

Tuesday: PLANTER’S PUNCH = CM’s dark rum, CM’s amber rum, CM’s white rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice-sweetened, grenadine….. Say, I’m really starting to like this “Captain Morgan” dude… OK, I’ll take a double and wake me in the morning!

Wednesday: STINGER = CM’s rum, Midori (melon liqueur), pineapple juice, cranberry juice

This is a list of the “drink of the day” on the cruise. The description is provided not to insult your intelligence (as if you didn’t know how to make them), I just liked looking them up.

Sack….13 days and counting!!!! :drinking1

Tiptoen:
Thanks for the latest on I-95. I have been trying to keep up with the latest on the fires - all that is just awful. I truly hope all are out SOON - (more for them than my situationof driving thru!)
Sack - now THAT's what I'm talkin' about! LOVE the drinks you posted! And from experience - they all taste as wonderful as they sound. I brought home the glass that you can buy the first day so that the other drinks will be cheaper if you take you glass back for a refill - highly recommend doing that!
My DGS is almost 9, but looks closer to 11. He loves the basketball court on the ship. There is a camera up there on the court that transmits to the in-room TV so you can keep an eye out for your child's location, etc. His Mom liked that last year when he was younger - she felt like he was safe if she could actually "see" him playing.

Buddrose - What "glass" are you talking about? This is "news" to me..."news" that I'm highly interested in!

I bought several drinks on the Oct05 cruise but don't recall this little "gem" of news...and I'd love to bring back a glass that might get me a discount on refill (no matter how small a discount). I have a "glass" mug that I bought for beer and I have several plastic (different colors) "boat drink" glasses. Do you know if any of these apply? If not, can you tell what "the one" might look like? Thanks so verrrrry much!

Sack :cheer2:

The glass is a plastic hurricane shaped container that you can buy (usually during the Sail Away party on Sunday. Just keep it and the bartenders will refill it with the drink of the day for you at a cheaper price. The glass (including your very first drink of the day "DOTD") costs more initially, but does save a little bit of $$ if you have at least 2 DOTD per day....

yeah! we just got ours today too! see everyone (or at least some of you) at the radisson van stop!

We received our documents this weekend. Now, if I can just get my classroom packed, I can relax on the trip. :teacher: Also, Sack66, I have 2 DS (12 & 8) that would enjoy meeting your boys. My older DS has been emailing Logan1_2000's son. Maybe they can all hang out together on the trip.

We're less than 2 weeks away and I still have a lot to do. THe kids and I have been sick with the stomach flu. Will we ever get better?:confused3 This weekend will be crazy with all of the preparation!

Wareagle, I'm right there with you on the classroom packing. My aide has been sanitizing toys for 2 days. Last day for my kiddos is Thursday with a short program Friday morning then they are gone for the summer. That will free me up to help my aide in the cleaning/packing but then I also have to prepare folders for registration day. That's next Wednesday and we'll be swamped with all the eager parents who want to register their little ones for next year's pre-k classes. So much to do. So little time. Oh, and I'm already behind on the 2nd job I took so we could actually PAY for this trip. I'm a curriculum writer for my state dept. of education.

BTW, I have 3 sons, ages 9, 12, 13, and a daughter, age 11 who will be on the cruise. I'm sure they will be looking for some new pals to hang around too.

Michele

On Trial all week long (and starting to look like it will spill into next week, too) in lovely Macon, GA, and got a bit of a break...so I checked into DIS boards, of course!

We're in 2060, with any luck I'll have my door sign (printer issues interfacing from the only 'puter I have that has Disney font loaded onto it, and the same page is "off" from any other 'puter if I email the file because the other computers don't have Disney font. Such troubles.

Tomorrow we cross examine the husband--we represent the wife. Fun fun fun!!
