May 27th 2007 Wonder Cruise. Anyone else on it?

My DGS - 8 3/4 will be in the Oceaneers Lab. He loved going last year and especially liked that he could stay as long as he wanted and then "beep" his mom to come get him. He is VERY friendly (will talk to a wall!). His baseball season will be over the night before we leave for the cruise - great timing!

Buddrose - my DS (8 in March) will be in the Oceaneers Lab as well. The last time we went (Oct05) he had a blast and couldn't wait to get to his club each morning and I don't recall him ever "beeping" me...(doesn't say much for how much FUN I can be, right?!). Coincidentally, his soccer season ends on Saturday, 05/26 with his last game and end-of-season pizza party.

As far as friendly and talking-to-walls, I believe your DGS and my DS would be completing as to who could talk the most to the wall-that-never-responds-but-is-a-great-listener!! Very outgoing and happy (generally, unless he's not getting his way LOL). VERRRRRY different from my DS 17...now he's introverted and you wouldn't know whether he was happy or not unless someone tatoo'd a smile on his face while he was sleeping!:rotfl:

11 more days :woohoo: !!! I can HARDLY wait!!!!!!

Did anyone book the diving excursion through DCL? My husband lost his dive partner when my younger sister divorced him.:sad1:

I sure would like for him to buddy up with someone before the dive. He says that when he doesn't go with someone he knows the dive company usually teams him up with a young inexperienced diver since he is the older, more experienced diver. He says that he then spends all his time checking on someone that starts off with the mouthpiece in upside down or his wetsuit on backwards. This tends to take away from what could be an enjoyable dive. I told him I would check to see if any DISers from our cruise would be joining him and maybe they could partner up with him.

I still can't convince my son to get certified. I'm really surprised he hasn't expressed any interest since he loves the water.

O.k, I think I'm over the stomach flu now. Back to packing for the trip!:thumbsup2 I cannot believe how quickly the trip is approaching! We leave on 5/26 to head down to Port.

Wait, your younger sister divorced your husband?

Y'all live in Utah or something? (Sorry, just watched an episode of Big Love on HBO). Okay, methinks the lost dive partner is in fact your former brother in law, from whom your younger sister was divorced. Remember the old Bugs Bunny cartoon--"ah ha, pro-noun trouble...its not "he doesn't have to shoot YOU", its "he doesn't have to shoot ME"...well I say he DOES have to shoot me..so shoot me NOW! (Bang!) (Pause, with Daffy all smoky and shot-up) "You're dispicable"

Just having late night fun with pronoun trouble.

On Trial all week long (and starting to look like it will spill into next week, too) in lovely Macon, GA, and got a bit of a break...so I checked into DIS boards, of course!

Tomorrow we cross examine the husband--we represent the wife. Fun fun fun!!

He couldn't have done worse!! We had a field day on him. And they kept doing us huge favors at every turn when they went to present their own case. Case goes to the jury tomorrow--he might not leave the court with his shirt (and based on all his contempts, which we will resolve tomorrow, he might spend the night in the state issued striped pajamas).

Glad the trial is going well - I assume your tongue was not " firmly planted in your cheek" when you noted "lovely Macon GA" - I was born there!
Still watching the fires in S. GA/N. FL as I try to plot our travel course Saturday morning. PLEASE (for the residents sake especially) RAIN this week down there, but STOP before we sail on Sunday!

One week to go. This time next Saturday we will be on the way to the Raddison.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Oh no, I was being heavily sarcastic...

but then I was born in Detroit...a great place to be from--since everywhere you go from there is UP. I notice you don't claim to still be in Macon.

But the NuWay hot dogs are still red.

We did have one disaster yesterday. We had a gas leak on our property. Luckily, there was no explosion, but we are still without gas. We are heating water with our microwave to take bath's and are eating take out. Boy, do we need a vacation now!

Wow! :scared1: I'm glad y'all are okay! Heating bath water in the microwave has to be a bummer but the take out part would be okay in my book.

My house looks like a tornado came through it. I've got about 80% of our stuff packed, I think. Still gathering things up though. DH went and got the cargo carrier from our former brother in law (the same one who used to be Lori's dh's dive partner). We are all still very friendly even though our younger sister divorced him.;)

The next few days will be filled with end of the school year packing and paperwork then we are pulling out of here very early Friday morning!:woohoo:

Boy do I feel incompetent! I've been so busy and distracted that I haven't been on this thread in a loooooonnng time. I stopped by to catch up and find out that everyone's packed! I guess we need to bring the suitcases up from the basement today.
 I tend to really overpack so I've tried not to get the suitcases out yet for fear of throwing in our entire wardrobe of summer clothes.

Allow me to introduce myself again: My name is Jill, my dh is Mike, and we have two ds, Chris is 11 and Andrew is almost 8. We live in Suwanee, GA. Suwanee is about 30 miles north of Atlanta. I see there are a lot of families from GA and AL on this trip. :yay:

We are driving down this Sat and staying at the Ramada Cocoa Beach. Anybody know if this is a good choice? I did try other hotels back in March (I actually do some things ahead of time.) but couldn't find much else on Orbitz.

I checked the 10-day forecast for Nassau and it's calling for scattered thunderstorms. :sad1: I hope that they got that wrong - it wouldn't be the first time.

I'm so looking forward to getting my hair cut today because I know my hair will be washed with nice running warm water instead of poured over my head with a bucket.;)

OK...it looks like the majority of the "posters" REALLLLY need a vacation!! One more week girls!!

Anyway, thought I'd share something to those of you driving. The fires are NOTHING...compared to the "love-bugs" we are experiencing!!! Went over the Epcot for the Flower & Garden show again, yesterday. BJ Thomas was hosting the weekend concert. Couple of weeks ago, we went over to see the Turtles. They were all great. I knew going into the BJ Thomas concert that I would recognize a few of his songs but I started to feel my age when I was able to sing ALL OF THEM!! How embarrassing... :rolleyes1

Anyhoo, the drive across the B-Line was utterly disastrous regarding the love-bugs. No kidding, it sounded like rain hitting the windshield. So, my suggestion is to make sure your mouth is closed if you are driving with your windows down or sun roof open. It was terrible. AND...they are hard to get off your windows and car. Lots of scrubbing...

Well, on a better note...only one week until my wedding and our FamilyMoon!! I am basically packed and can't wait. :yay:

See ya'll soon! Sack:bride:

Nik's Mom, I know how you feel about the water situation. I live south of Baton Rouge, LA so we had no power for a week after Katrina. My house is all electric so we took our baths in the swimming pool. After a couple of days algae starting growing so I couldn't handle that anymore. :scared1: We cooked everything out of the freezer on the BBQ pit. Luckily, I had lots of Schwan's food in the freezer so we did alright.

I've also started packing the suitcases.

I had my DS14 get his clothes out to make sure we had enough for the week for him. This was his growing year so I had purchased all new shorts, dress pants, shirts and shoes back in March. I'm so glad I had him try on his new dress pants. He has his 8th grade graduation Tuesday night so he has to dress up for that. He had a hard time zipping the pants and they were too short. After much searching I found the receipt and was able to return them to Kohl's this afternoon. So we spent the afternoon trying to find pants to fit. He seems to be between the young men's sizes and the boy's sizes.

I will be working every day but Wednesday up until we leave on Friday. I own a bookstore and only have 1 employee so she is taking off most of this week since she will be working alone while I am gone. This will be payback time. She went on a cruise about a month ago and I had to work 9 days in a row. At least she has the Memorial Day holiday off while I'm gone.

I will need to have everything together or I will worry all day at work about what needs to be done when I get home.

Well, back to the packing!

Lori

I can only imagine what you all went through! I continue to try to be optimisitic because I know so many other people are in much worse shape than my family. After all, we are about to go on a cruise!:)

Well, I finally got my suitcase out of the closet and have started "thinking" about packing - am trying to wear "work clothes" this week only so I will only have to do one load of wash on Thursday!
Logan1 - was born in Macon, but only lived there for 2 years (don't remember ANY of it) - migrated "north" to the ATL until college (UGA) and never made it back to ATL....
I hope everyone has safe travels to the Port - I just hope we can afford to PAY for the gas!!

Paid $3.00.9/10ths per gallon for regular yesterday--never thought that would be a good price, but such is the current situation. Still no contest on the cost of the trip, driving vs. flying, for 3, including the hotel--and that is calculated driving an Expedition. About 70 gallons roundtrip from Atlanta.

Looks like DS's summer baseball team plays its first tournament over Memorial Day weekend after all, so I said I would make him available Saturday and drive at night, so haven't cancelled the Titusville ressie yet but have made one in Jax in case I am not hitting the road until dinner time. Or even a bit later.

We've got an Atlanta sky full of smoke from the wild fires to the south, you can smell it. To my knowledge, though, and checking the DOT website through yesterday, the interstates are all open.

All is a "go" for the drive down Saturday... Just need to fill the car up with gas-at least it's cheaper than bottled water!
Also checking the weather in the Bahamas - 60% chance of rain - who cares - that will change as we get closer.
