May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

insuremytrip.com??

Can you explain this to me, I normally don't buy insurance... I think I did on our very first cruise about 20 years ago, just in case, cause my son was staying home and it provided me transportation if I needed to get back, etc, etc.

Does it cost alot? Do you recommend it?

Thanks!
G

Me again :)

I was just curious if there was a decision on how many FE gifts/people we needed for...

I'm in the process of starting my gifts and want to make sure I have enough, I believe I have MORE THAN ENOUGH, I was soooo excited I just kept buying! LOL

So.. if you can tell me please. :) thanks!!!

Me again x1000 lol

I should learn to read just saw the FE list. Says March 25th,
duh, sorry!

insuremytrip.com is the web site that I use to get price quotes and to compare different travel insurance policies. I get it mainly in case anything major happens between the cancellation date and the cruise, and also for the medical and medical evacuation coverage, flight delays, and when we sailed on the 2004 Magic 10-night hurricane cruise, we were able to be reimbursed for expenses incurred due to the trip being interrupted/delayed for those those extra 3 days. I purchased 1 policy for the 4 of us (4 adults), and it cost $172.00.

It's a personal choice whether to get travel insurance or not; there are a lot of threads about it over on the main cruise board.

I have used them, I like the coverage. They provide medical airlift- something a lot of companies do not.

lol...yep - that was the date chosen by most!

Happy Weekend...

I'm exhausted!! :surfweb:

Girl Scouts had a sleepover last night at the Cradle of Aviation museum here on Long Island.. The floor ain't comfy! :bored:

You sorta sleep but you don't, if you know what I mean ;)

I was just peekin' at the FE list - seems about 18 families..

If you are doing the FE, have you decided if you are doing family or individuals?

With a list this small, or is it small, this is our first so I have no comparison, do you do indiv?

Is this list just slow, maybe people don't know about it?

Anyways, I'm off to take a shower and wake up! and it's 230pm lmao! :)

Enjoy the rest of your day...speak soon!

Oh, btw, I have one more payment due this coming week and I'm paid in FULL!!!

I'm a tad nervous, no turning back now!

Since, I'm making different things, I'm doing an entire cabin gift. There will be a little something for everyone, but I'm not doing each individual person. This is also my first FE, so I hope that is OK??

If I was going to switch to individual people, I think I would have to rethink what I am making! :confused3

Good idea...

I might just do that.. Add all the indiv gifts into one cabin gift.. but something in each for everyone ... Might make it easier for me! :)

:thumbsup2

Congrats on getting down to your last payment! I know what you mean about no turning back now. When I bought the plane tickets and the travel insurance, it made the trip more real and more final.

This is what I'm going to do too; include something for everyone in my cabin gifts. :)

I am not on your cruise but as many of you are experienced in cruising with Disney I thought I would seek out some help on this thread. Although I have been on many cruises this my first with Disney. I agree with a previous poster it is frustrating when you are a first time cruiser with Disney as you have to wait until last to book extras like Port Adventure setc even though I have been booked for many months

Anyway the point of my question to you nice people is, I will want to book Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter for my family of 2 DSIL & 2 DD's + 5 grandchildren, but I cannot book until 75 days out as our cruise is not until July. I cannot book direct with Dolphin Encounters either because they have a contractual agreement with DCL to give them spaces for them to get the bookings as they told me when I sent an e amil to them, so finally can you please tell me are their any spaces left on your cruise for the 9.30 excursion to the Blue Lagoon. You may think this is a stupid question as I am not sailing on this cruise but I was hoping it would give me some indication as to how fast this particular gets booked up. Of course it could be a different scenario by the time it comes to our cruise, but with 9 Interaction tickets and 3 Observer tickets required I am a bit nervous as to whether we will get them or not and I do not fancy the Atlantis Encounter over the Blue lagoon.

I am really sorry for the long winded story to get to the point but I thought a little bit of background information would help explain my dilemma. Thanks

Hi there!

I just checked for the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter, and I was able to choose the 9:45am time slot for our party of 4 adults. :) Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for looking at this for me. I do not totally agree with this system,. I know not of any other cruiseline that does this. Perhaps I am being biased but I feel that the earlier you book your cruise the sooner you should be able to book and reserve everything else. It would also encourage early booking of cruises for Disney. Still we just have to live by the rules. Anyhow i just hope previous Disney cruises have already done the Dolphins as I have done and won't be wanting yo do them again. Still thankyou again for your kindness which is welcomed by a much appreciated Scotsman. NJGir I would also appreciate if tou could post if you are siccesful with your booking of the Dolphin Encounter. We are not wanting the Swim BTW, Thanks again to all and hope you all have a wonderful cruise. I look forward to seeing your reports.

Question from my Mother.. :) hehe, She's not on the boards..

Hairdryer in the room and do they supply shampoo/conditioner and soaps in the showers? :) Sometimes they hang on the walls, on previous cruises they did ..

Thanks!!

:)

Georgette

There is a hairdryer, but its not supposed to be great. I took my own, so can't comment.

Yes to shampoo, conditioner, soap and also moisturiser (which is lush by the way, I got my room host to bring me a few last time! ;)).

Thanks...

I'm thinking of personally packing my own travel hairdryer, not the best either, but something.

As for shampoo, etc, enough for the week? or do I have to keep asking for it, especially being a family of 4, we'd use alot!

I'll let you know what I find open when I do my reservations as a first timer this coming weekend. I only need one observer and one participant. I'll be online at midnight no doubt.

I'm also looking to book a Palo brunch. We'll see what luck I have with that too.

Thanks...

Georgette,

We've been on the Magic twice before. I have long hair and so do my two DDs. We were fine for 2 weeks on the TransAtlantic crossing using the dryer that's mounted on the wall. Not as powerful as our hairdryer at home, but it gets the job done and, personally, I don't think it would justify sacrificing space in the suitcase.

As for the lotion, shampoo and conditioner that they provide, I absolutely LOVE them! They come in individual tube type containers - for example, the "Body Butter" lotion is 2.7oz. The products are of good quality too - I'd say equal to Bath and Bodyworks. And they aren't chintzy with it! The tubes get replaced as they are used. If your cabin steward comes in to clean the room and sees that the products are missing, you'll find new ones there! You really don't need to bring your own.

Side note, while I'm on the subject of bath amenities . . . I take a small rectangular plastic basket - the kind you find at the dollar store - to hold extra bottles of hairspray, sunscreen, toothpaste, etc. There's a shelf below the sink in one of the split bathrooms and the basket fits nicely on the shelf and helps keep the small counterspace clutter-free. It also keeps things secure in case of rough seas - but we arent going to have that, are we?

Hope my long-winded post is helpful!

Susan

Perfect I will tell her. I dont think I have a larger bath as Im in an inside room.

As for reservations, I agree when you book or pay in full, no matter if you
Are a first timer or not, but rules are rules.

I just hope I am able to book the Atlantis Adventure on March 11th.
