May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Questions I would like responses to please!!!

1 - Do we want to split this list? Some folks do one gift per cabin some per person, so what is the group consensus?

2 - If I split it - by deck or elevator stack? (meaning fore/aft)

thanks!!
Cayla

Thanks for keeping our FE list, Cayla. :)

1: I don't think that we need to split the list, but if others want to, then I am totally fine with that.

2: If I had to pick, I'd say elevator stack because that would probably be less walking, and I'm thinking of my poor feet. :(

:scared1: I just emailed the TA to make our last payment!!! It'll be final! :woohoo:

Question -- how much luggage can we bring?
I'm not flying, so lugging it isn't an issue -- 1 carry on each plus luggage?

Also - if my daughter brought her DSi, can she plug it in - or do I need an international charger too? I have one, just wanted to see if I needed to pack it.

Enjoy the day - i'm off to make labels.. starting my own Tastefully Simple business for some extra monies ;) If you need anything - lemme know ;) PM me! :)

Padalyn, I don't think the list needs splitting, I personally am happy to do all on there. I have gone for a gift per person, but again, if people want to do a gift per cabin then thats up to them, I think either way works!

georgette, you won't need any adaptors for the ship (although I do coming from England!!). Last year I bought a plug extender, think its got 4 sockets on it, and that was really useful. Also bringing our over the door shoe holder for the bathroom door, as that was great for storing all kinds of random stuff!

Well done on the weightloss Seaspray. Still going well here, 2lbs off this week so now 31.5lbs off in total. Will need to weight until nearer time to look at clothes for the cruise - hopefully will be a good excuse to buy some new ones!!:rotfl2: Mind you, they need to be a comfy fit, as by the end of the last cruise my clothes were all really tight from the weight I put on, the food is just so nice and so much of it!

Thanks.. I have them as my husband is from Ireland and we use to bring the adapters!

As for pirate night, what is everyone doing?

I haven't lost a lb. at all .. I have the best intentions but it's just not working! eeeeek!

I'm in the process of looking at bathing suits, eeeek to that too! :)

I'm final too - made payment the other day.....getting excited!!!!!

Hello All,
Getting very excited for our cruise! We made our final payments this week and I am looking forward to booking on Saturday night at midnight :)

I was looking at the gifts/amenities section on the Disney website. Does anyone that has cruised before know if the photo credit packages are worth buying ahead of time? Not sure if there was a discount or it was just for convience? Here is what was listed:

Thank you!
Stephanie

Technically you are allowed 2 "checked" and 2 "carryon"... Reality is Michael has brought 12 bags/boxes. They will NOT store luggage for you, so how much are you willing to climb over is really the question

I also suggest magnet hooks for the back of the door

I just posted the same on a facebook group page -- Someone said to buy the CD, ends up being cheaper than photo by photo. I spend alot last year on our NCL Bermuda cruise, they were at least 16.00 each time and I have a bunch!

I also suggest magnet hooks for the back of the door

Hi All!

I found this board when poking around for info on Disney Cruises and needless to say better late than never - We signed up for the May 25th Cruise leaving NYC just this past week! :) This is not only our first Disney cruise, but our first cruise ever for my DW and DS.

What started off as a last minute decision for a special family vacation somehow turned into a full bore plan-o-rama that now has me surfing Amazon.com for Pirate outfits for the whole family - how that happened I dunno lol. To say we're excited is an understatement :goodvibes

I do have some questions tho with us being newbies to Disney cruising if you folks don't mind answering or pointing us to the right threads -

- Is there a good night to reserve dinner at Palo that won't let us miss a big event or theme? Our son being 3.5 - does he come to dinner with us at Palo or does he stay at his club while DH + DW eat?

- OMG door decorations. Wow, where to start? We found the door decoration thread so there are lots of ideas but how heavy duty do the magnets need to be? Fridge magnets suffice?

- I had to research what FE was lol. Where do we sign up if its not too late?

A little more than 2 months to go and we're roaring to board! Can't wait to see everyone at the ship.

Welcome!!!! :)

I'm Georgette -- My DH, DS and DD will be joining me on OUR first Disney cruise - we've cruised before on other lines.

I can't help you with much - but the magnets I don't think have to be heavy duty, just magnet paper found at Staples, Walmart, etc.. depending on where you are from.

I'm not participating in Palo, we've decided not to go and just do a family dinner, my daughter, being 9, would probably want to be in the kids club anyways. ( I know Palo is adult only)

As for the FE, mine is made and posted in the FE photo thread somewhere... It was the first thing I made.

I can't wait, I have sooo many gifts to hand out -- it's going to be a heavy bag! LOL :)

Cayla will add you the FE list if you PM (private message) her, her ID is padalyn. Since you are new and have only 1 post unsure if you can PM but you can try - I don't remember the rules on that.

Good luck and welcome aboard!
Speak soon!
Georgette
:cheer2:

Thank you, just did. BTW, you were hard to find! I had to end up using Google to find your FB profile, lol!!

Really! LOLLLL :) I'm a tough cookie.. Just teasin'.

Wonder why that was, interesting, oh, don't matter, you found me! :D

Welcome!!

Just wanted to say, my son, also a Mateo is super excited to find someone with his name. He's 6.5 and always says he has never found another Mateo!!

I had to google you as well, Georgette Carter-Snoddy for facebook! I am Stacey Astle-Munn who just friend requested you! This is also our first family cruise!
I am excited for tomorrow night. I am hoping to book a Palo reservation!
We are driving down from eastern Canada and I was able to book all my hotel reservations with my aeroplan miles! Awesome! We are staying north of Boston the first night and staying at Four Points by Sheraton in Long Island City the night before the cruise. We will park at the pier for $315 (gulp!). Wonder if there are any coupons or discounts available!

For pirate night, we've ordered tees with Mickey heads with bandanas with a blinged pirate earring from Stitch This Custom on etsy.

Just wanted to say, my son, also a Mateo is super excited to find someone with his name. He's 6.5 and always says he has never found another Mateo!!

Who doesn't love Matthew but in spanish? :) lol yes, not as common but we tried to stick to spanish names with biblical meaning and loved it. Unique but not unfamiliar to most folks.

We also stuck to names that worked in both Spanish/English. My husband is from Mexico City and his entire family is still there, so we felt it important to have names that worked well in both places. Mateo has a twin named Elias (e - lee - as), but here is he goes by Eli since everyone kept mispronouncing his full name!
