May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

I agree with the formal nights being on sea days. Pirate night is Nassau night, and on the port canaveral night they wouldn't do a formal night because too many people will be off the boat.

:)

I concur! :thumbsup2 LOL

Great to hear that everyone got what they really wanted! I guess no cabana = more DOTD's and more Bingo! I booked the 6:15 shuttle to do the extra hour at Hollywood Studios! I am not sure it was such a ! We shall see! I have check-in from 11-11:30 which is great!

I just did the online check-in a little while ago and got the 11am boarding time, too!! :cool1:

Hey guys, one new thing that I noticed on the DCL web site:

We can pre-purchase "NYC to Bahamas Logo" t-shirts and hats! I've heard of merchandise running out on these special itineraries in the past, so I called the 800 number and order t-shirts for DH and I, and a hat for DH.

I'm all booked in. Had to wait til I finished work today, as couldn't get on the site at work to do it. Have picked the 7.15am bus to magic kingdom, early!

No Palo for me, I'm a single Mum and kids aren't old enough, and don't really fancy it on my own. I'm not that bothered, am vegetarian so not sure how great the selection would be anyway. Plus its not like there isn't enough food on board to choose instead! :rotfl:

So, all that remains for me to do is book flights. They have come down quite a lot in the last few days, but am still hanging on. Think I will probably brave waiting til 1st March, then book, as I am getting nervous the longer I wait. Of course, any sign of them going back up and I'll be booking straight away!

Think it was georgette who asked what diet I'm doing - its called Exante, and it is basically the same as Cambridge/Lighter Life etc - total food replacement and 600-800 calories a day. Am not doing it totally to the plan and have made my own adaptations, but its going well. Didn't get to 2 stone as I hoped this Friday, am 1.5lbs away, so hopefully next week I'll reach that marker. I am literally salivating when I think about the food onboard though, dread to think how much weight I'll put on in 8 days!

Ugh..I'm anxiously awaiting March 10 to book this stuff!! As a first time cruiser...it's so hard waiting when I'm used to booking ADRs at 180 days! So frustrating waiting while everyone else is booking!

We just want a Palo brunch (the one thing Mom REALLY wants to do), a dolphin excursion in Nassau for me, and I'm hoping for a 7:15 MK bus. I'll be ready at midnight on my day!

I'm looking forward to wrapping up our payments this week and finally be PAID IN FULL!

I'm still here too. I decieded to forgo the FE list. It would be something that I would obsess over and take too much time at. I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like that!

I am soooooo excited for this cruise! This is our first so I can't make any ressies until March 11. I am hoping for a Palo dinner on the CC day. I also want an early shuttle to Animal Kingdom. I hope that we can stay for Wishes that evening!

I just checked the park hours and "Wishes" is at 10pm that night. I believe that the last buses are leaving at 11pm, so I bet that you'd be able to make it. :)

I called DCL today to request our favorite waiter. Decided to inquire about the dining/theme schedule and as quick as you could say "Bibbity Bobbity Boo!" I got the following info: :tink:

Day 2 At Sea formal
Day 3 At Sea casual
Day 4 Nassau Pirate Night
Day 5 Castaway Cay casual
Day 6 Port Canaveral casual
Day 7 At Sea semi-formal
Day 8 At Sea casual

Have a magical week!

Thanks so much for the info! So my question is how formal is formal vs. semi formal? Usually hubby wears a suit for semi formal night, is this still ok for formal? Trying to figure out about packing and if I need to go dress shopping for myself

My DH and DSs always wear a suit for formal and semi-formal nights. That is what I seem to remember seeing the most of, although a lot of men just wore a dress shirt and tie for semi-formal night. Some men will wear a tux both nights. Your DH will be fine wearing a suit both nights. :)

I plan to go dress shopping; it's been a few years since I've bought anything new for a cruise, and I have a few other occasions this year where I'll need a nice dress.

Hi all ;)

Just saying hi and checkin' in!

Just back from the gym, eeek, so outta shape! hehe

Thanks for the info about the dining/formal nights schedule!

I just hope they don't plan on having any of the show dinners on Port Canaveral day.

O boy. Your right. You think they will do that?

I cant wait to book my things.

I really don't think that they will plan much for the evening/night of Port Canaveral day. I'd guess it'll probably be movie night or something. I don't think it will be any of the live productions. :)

I meant more of the Animator's Palate show dinner. As a first timer, I don't want to miss one of those dinners or special menus.

Oh I see! :) Well then you definitely don't have to worry about missing the show in Animator's Palate on Port Canaveral night because you will dine there on either the first, second, or third night (depending on your dining rotation), and that is the night that they do the "show". After that, when you go to AP the room will already be lit in full color. They only do the show the first time each rotation dines there.

I hope I explained this so that it makes sense. lol

Makes sense!

That's what i was thinking by what I've read...but I was confused bc would they do the AP show on Formal Night which is the 2nd night? And do they do the show dinner on the first night of the cruise? I've only seen like the Welcome Aboard menu for first nights and I thought I had seen a menu specific for formal night?

Who knows! I just hope they count on most of us not being back on the boat for dinner on our Disney day!

They definitely do the "show" in AP on the first night and also formal night. It doesn't matter what the theme of the dinner is, they will still do the show the first time that each rotation is in there. :) It's really not an actual show per se, but when you walk in... well, I don't know how much you know about it, but in case you want to be surprised, I won't say any more about it.

Hi Susan! I just added this information to Post #1. I hope you don't mind, and I did give you credit for the info! :thumbsup2

How is everyone doing these days? I can't believe that we're getting so close to this cruise! :yay:

I was reading a thread on the main Cruise Board today and then remembered that I still needed to buy our travel insurance. So... I went to insuremytrip.com and bought a policy for the 4 of us. At least that's one more thing to cross off the list of Things To Do. :)

I got my Fish Extender in the mail today!! :sunny:

I ordered it from someone on ebay, and it came out great! We only needed 2 pockets, and it cost $19.99, plus $6 for our names and choice of Mickey heads. Compared to others that I've seen, it was a good price and it turned out very nice. :)
