May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Hi GgeOrgette2, My husband and I had the exact same views about seeing a lot of misbehaved chidlren on this particular cruise. Our mid-ship deck 7 was very noisey this year. It was like parents didn't care if their kids were running up and down the hall or running around like animals in their cabins. In previous Disney Cruise exp. we didn't see these issues. We also noticed such a difference in the the NE clientele verse leaving from Florida. Overall, we had a wonderful time. We had great table shipmates this year. We all had plenty of laughs together at each meal. There were a lot of 1st time cruisers on this particular cruise.

Hi SeaSpray, We are tentatively book on the Fantasy from May 4th, 2013. The plan is to celebrate my B-day. Let's see how the rest of 2012 works out for us.

I can't compare Disney cruises.. this was our first.

Very weird that you mentioned NE cruisers, could this be it? :confused3

Being born and raised in NY, I don't believe I allow my kids to run amok. I have complete control of them - but allow them to be kids too.

We were on deck 6 and there were kids running up and down the hall very early each morning..

But then, we did a NYC port cruise last year to Bermuda and didn't find unruly kids aboard. My daughter actually enjoyed it better. I don't know if it was quieter and older kids that May, being kids in school... or because it was Disney and all little kids aren't in school yet...

We have a planned May 2013 cruise that I'm questioning. I don't know what to do. I don't want to cancel then regret it.. but I can get a better valued cruise on another line for less money.popcorn::

We were thinking Breakaway to Bermuda ... NCL's new ship for next year or even the Caribbean. 4n Bahamas isn't worth it for me on Disney.

Hi SeaSpray, It was great meeting you and your family on the NYC Cruise. Thanks for organizing everything. I love your website and all of your pic's. We took a lot of pic's ourselves. Sincerely, Cheryl

Great! Let us know when it's ready to view. :3dglasses

So, who put any weight on during the cruise?! I did better than expected considering we were away for 2 weeks altogether, and put 7.5lbs on. I thought it would be nearer double than that, so was actually very pleased! Am now back on the diet, so will lose that pretty quick, then I just need to motivate myself to keep going.

I did! LOL I purposely weighed myself on the morning that we left. When we got home I had gained 6.4 pounds. As of a few days ago I had lost all but the .4 pound.

The thing with me is, I really swelled up on our Castaway Cay day and was unable to unswell (is that even a word?? LOL) during the cruise. It kind of made me a little nervous because I have high blood pressure and take medication for it, and I was concerned that the swelling might be a reaction to my blood pressure being too high. At night I'd put a pillow on the table in the cabin and put my feet up, to try and see if that helped at all. I'd never seen my ankles look like that in my entire life!

Anyway, by the next day off of the ship my ankles were mostly back to normal, and now they're totally back to normal, so I think my weight gain was mostly fluid. :confused3

Did anyone else's ankles swell up like that on this cruise? I've never had that happen before.

P.S. Jody, I know that you said that you had lost weight before the cruise and you really looked great!!! :sunny:

Ahh, thanks Terry! I did lose 3 stone before I went which I was really pleased about.

Very strange about you swelling up, glad its all back to normal now.

I weighed myself my first day back in England and seemed to have put on 11lbs, but between Thursday and Monday when I weighed in I seemed to lose 3.5lbs which is bizarre given I ate everthing in sight and drank like a fish! Had a bottle of wine a night over the weekend! ;) If only I could usually lose weight like that, would be great! Well done on shifting your 6lbs so fast by the way, thats fab.
