May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

HI Everyone !!! We just booked its our first curise!! Its me (DeAna), Jeremy and Davin (3) count us in for the fish extender!!! Can't wait to meet you all!!!

ok - I see that there is no one managing the list...so I will do it :)

Please be kind...this is my first time managing the list.

If you wish to be added please PM me. In the subject line please put FE LIST ADDITION for NYC TO Bahamas this is because I am on numerous cruises next year and on many FE lists...please cut and paste this into the subject line for me.

The colors are just to show you my information...you don't need to do it in color :rotfl:

then give me the following information:
Dis name: padalyn
Real world name: Cayla
Cabin #: 7631
who is sailing with you?: dear friend Michael
ages of any children: n/a
any special information such as food allergies: allergic to juniper
your email address - this will NOT be published in any way. This is just so I can email the list to everyone. I use Blind Copy, so the email address will remain private.

I will publish this list about 60 days before we sail - this way folks can get things together as needed....unless someone has a different suggestion?

On the sail date, I will put copies of the most current version on my cabin door.

I use excel to manage stuff like this...if you need the list emailed to you in the *.doc format please let me know...my version is *.docx (office 2007 or later)

Google Docs link:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...RFVWJPYUFlTVE&hl=en_US&authkey=CMC00osD#gid=0

as I said - the email addresses will NOT be on this list, I will keep a copy on my computer that no one will see. I prefer (and know many who also like) email privacy...no spamming here!

SeaSpray - are you going to create a links page? Some threads do that so folks can find information out quickly without having to search the whole thread. If so, link to post 82 for the FE list.

Cayla

hi cayla!
so great you are on this cruise.remember me?we are the family from portugal, who were on the 10 nigth mexican riviera in april.so,do you like the repo and the alaska cruise?
so fun,to have someone on board we have cruised before,i´m prety excited with this cruise.

I remember all of you...your daughter is beautiful...maybe she will be learning some English?

it will be good to see so many familiar faces!

Here are the names I picked up from the thread...please update and add to this by PM. I don't always have time to read the whole thread and don't want to miss anyone. I will post this list monthly I guess to make sure that folks can get me the info! If there is a ** next to your dis name I have all the info needed.

bitocas (need cabin #)
djm24309 (need cabin #)
FirstTimers (need cabin #)
JustinsMommy07 (need cabin #)
Padalyn **
SeaSpray (need all the info)

Sorry for the flurry of posts...I figured better as many than too much info on one ;)

Cayla

Good morning everyone :sunny:

Cayla, Yes, I will add the link to the FE info post to the first page so that it'll be easier to find. I plan to add any and all helpful links to that page.

And I will send you my FE info as well. :)

Hi DeAna :welcome: I will add your family to the Roll Call list on Page 1 :)

Ok, I just updated page 1! :surfweb:

Is anyone interested in trying to think up a unique group name?? If we get a few ideas then we can take a vote.

New York to Nassau - the Magic's Inaugural voyage from the Big Apple

any other ideas?

Hi everyone! Mike and I are back from our Princess cruise. It was lovely sailing out of NYC! So many times I hear people complain about rough seas out of New York, but this is our 2nd cruise out of there and no complaints.

While Princess wasn't our favorite cruise line ;), it was a good cruise. Princess definitely could learn from Disney: your pool towels are in the room, not at the pool or gangway so you have to remember to take your towels with you everywhere. Disembarkation sucked: you must vacate your room by 8am and then go wait in a lounge for your number to be called. Boo. You can't mix and match buckets of beer like you can on Disney. Disney doesn't care if you mix up Coors Lite and Miller Lite in a bucket. And they will keep track and say, "you're on a bucket; next beer is free!" On Princess, all beers must be the same and you must order your bucket in advance. Boo again. All pretty small things that didn't ruin our cruise, but we couldn't help notice Disney was better (or at least better suited to our preferences).

It was a great itinerary though -- Bermuda, Grand Turks! So wish Disney would consider including those ports on some of their cruises. And one thing Disney could learn from Princess (shhh!): Princess had GREAT pizza! Pizza on Disney is a bit sucky, no?

Well, less than a year now, and we'll be on the Magic!

Welcome back! I'm glad that you had a great time on the cruise :sunny: I'd love it if DCL sailed to Bermuda, I think it's a lot more family-friendly than many of the Caribbean islands that they go to.

It is hard to not compare other cruise lines to Disney, but when we're on Royal Caribbean, we do the same that you do, just enjoy it for what it is. :cool2: I've never been on a "bad" cruise!!! :thumbsup2

ok we can book our fligths!!!we booked on the 21 may a direct fligth from oporto to newark(great).
on the 2 june we have a layover in lisbon, but that´s not to bad.
we also book a package deal at marriot marquis new york, with brekasfast buffet and view to times square.i´m getting super excited:yay::yay:

Ok...so one can only do a poll as a new thread, since I think we should keep this 'in the family' as it were...here are my questions!

1. How many days before embarkation should the FE list be closed?
a. 30days
b. 60days
c. 90days

2. Should the FE be broken into small groups?
If you answered yes to #2 then how many cabins/people should each group contain?

3. If you answered NO to #2, what would your thoughts be on two larger groups, if the number of people gets to be very large? (this comes from the Dream Maiden and the Hawaii cruise in 2012 - both FE lists were/are well over 100 cabins)

congrats!!! I see I am not the only one who books stuff as far out as possible!!

question 1-a
question 2-b,i think we should not have more then 30 cabines per group.

I'm thinking about the New York Marriot Marquis, too :) Congrats on booking your flights and hotel :sunny:

1. B - 60 days (only because 30 days or less might not be enough time to get/make FE gifts and attend to all of the last minute packing and shopping).

2. & 3. It depends, I think, on how many cabins we have participating. Honestly, while I would *like* to have one big group, I don't think that I want to have to worry about packing more than 25 gifts. :confused3 I don't know, this will be my first official FE participation. :)

I logged in to the DCL site tonight and did see a few new things (you can now choose "New York City" when choosing your departure port when you want to view the Gifts/Amenities available to pre-order for the cruise.

It was fun to get an email from DCL. But I'm really looking forward to the day they add the pre-cruise hotel and transportation options. :)

Hi everyone. I am sorry to say that Mike and I are moving this cruise. We decided we wanted to do a B2B with a 5 night Canada, and that just wasn't possible with this cruise. So we are moving to the 8/25 cruise followed by the 9/2 Canada.; 13 glorious days on the Magic. :)

Of course I will be stalking your cruise and wishing you well in what we've deemed the "guinea pig cruise!". And there will be one less Jodie to keep track of! Happy sailing!
