May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Thanks, Terry. I was looking forward to meeting you too! I hope you all write trip reports because you know I'll be voraciously reading them. I want to hear all about your cruise!

:flower3: Hello everyone, we are soooo thrilled to be joining all of you. We orginally had March 11th 2012 on the Wonder out of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riveria booked, but we recently received a "New Itinerary" brochure from Disney and were THRILLED with the 8 days and out of NY so we quickly changed. This will be our 5th Disney cruise [all on the Magic] and our 9th cruise total. Everyone who will be going is

Me-Rebecca aka sftnslky :laundy:

DH-Earl Jr aka The Duke

DD-Jennah who will be 15 at the time of sailing :littleangel:

DD-Macy who will be 13 at the time of sailing :cheer2:

DS-Kasey who will be 11 at the time of sailing :scared1:

DS-Kaleb who is Kasey's identical twin and will also be 11 LOL :lmao:

DB Uncle Mark pirate:

We have connecting verandah cabins 7108 & 7110 :yay: We would love to join any activities or secret cabin exchange that you have going on. Has anyone thought of which excursions they are doing in Nassau? We want to do the jet ski and snorkeling in Castaway Cay, and this will be our very first time ever at Walt Disney World :dance3: even if it is only one day we are sooo excited. :yay::yay: Our last Magic cruise was to St. Thomas and we did a 5 hour ATV tour and it was a BLAST :moped: hopefully I can find a similar tour in Nassau. Well don't want to chat your ears off :rolleyes1 so will stop for now. Can't wait to get to know all of you soon. Bye for now :grouphug:

Welcome aboard Rebecca and family! :welcome:

I will add your names to the roll call on the first post. :surfweb:

This will be our first visit to Nassau, so we're not quite sure what we're going to do yet. Some of things that we're considering are the Ardastra Gardens tour; the Blue Lagoon Beach Day; the Atlantis Beach Day; or the excursion that only includes the aquariums at Atlantis. Except for the day that we go to WDW, this is going to be a relaxing cruise for us, as opposed to a more sight-seeing cruise. :)

Rebecca you will LOVE Disney World. I know that Disneyland is the first, and is a classic, and I love it....but there's something very, very special about Disney World too. :cloud9: I am in heaven when I'm there, and I can't wait to stop there on this cruise, even if only for the day. :sunny: We're already planning lunch and dinner at our family's favorite restaurants. :cool2:

Good morning everyone...I have updated the FE list on google docs. Here is the link if anyone needs it:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...RFVWJPYUFlTVE&hl=en_US&authkey=CMC00osD#gid=0

I am keeping a tally of answers to my earlier post so far here are the results:
30 days = 1 vote
60 days = 1 vote
small groups = 2 votes (25-30 sized)

I personally don't mind either, and since the list is available to everyone, we can all see if it gets large. I will update the online document about twice a month, unless we get a large number of people contacting me, then I will update it earlier.

Please check the spreadsheet to make sure I didn't make an entry error!!
PM me if I have not added you to the spreadsheet as of now...I need the following infomation:

Dis Name
RW Name
Cabin #
Who is sailing with you (ages and gender of kids please)
any allergies or special needs

I was asking for email addresses, but I don't think we are going to need them, since I am using an online spreadsheet. Feel free to include it if you like - I will NOT publish or spam in anyway

Cayla

Hi Cayla!

The spreadsheet looks great. :surfweb: Can you please add my son and his girlfriend to the list too? I know that they want to participate in the FE exchange, but they don't get on the DIS boards very often. I will send you their info in a PM. Thanks! :)

i was thinking of the atlantis waterpark.do you hapen to khown if is possible to go to the kennedy space center, while the boat is in port canaveral?i really have no interestto go to disney world for just 1 day,

Hi guys! I'm Jennah. I'm sftnslky's daughter (: I'm 15 years old & I'm super excited for this cruise. I've always wanted to go to New York, in fact, it's been a dream of mine. I guess Disney really does make dreams come true! Ahaha. I can't wait! :3

welcome!!!!

:yay::yay:Atlantis Waterpark?? How cool..do you have a link that I could check out? Is it a do on your own or a Disney excursion? I checked out the ATV tour and from all that I could find seems they have closed up the tour place :( But there is a jet ski tour that looks good. :thumbsup2

Its funny DB also asked if he could go to the space center. Wonder how we could find out? :confused3

Thanks by the way for all the warm welcomes. :lovestruc Chat with you all soon. Big :grouphug:

I added Robb & Chelsea - they will show up on the next update.

I like the Kennedy Space Center idea. I guess we could make arrangements to rent a car and drive over - it is very close actually. I think I would do my own arrangments for the day rather than DCL's. To drive to WDW is an hour each way, the way the busses drive it can take 90 minutes. I never figured out why. I do the speed limit when I go across - always takes me an hour. Anywhoo...I will be at WDW less than a month before this cruise, so I am definately going to look into the Kennedy Space Center...

Will have to ask the hunny - (Halloween_gryl) she is new to the boards and will pop on here soon enough which she wants to do. My other cruise buddy Michael is actually going to go HOME!!! He lives in Fla!

Should be a great time!

Cayla

I know that on the DCL web site they mention the Kennedy Space Center often, as something of interest near the port. I bet that they'll offer an excursion to go there. Or, it's close enough to maybe just get a cab.

Hi Rebecca:

On the DCL web site they list several different excursions to Atlantis, including some that include admission to the water park. I know that people have mentioned taking their own transportation to Atlantis, too, so I guess there are different options to get there, and what you can do once there.

I added Robb & Chelsea - they will show up on the next update.

Thanks for adding them, Cayla :)

Hey everyone! I say 90 days out and small groups. I want to make our gifts and even for a small group of 30 it will take time. That being said, 1 group would be great!! We are getting ready for summer to begin here in Philly!!!:cool1::cool1:

:scared1:Holly Molly Batman!!:scared1: That is rather pricey, it must be one heck of a waterpark. I will do some research on google and trip advisor to check it out. Have any of you actually been there? Would love to hear your opnions. :goodvibes

On a side note we were talking as a family and due to our girls' school schedule we will fly into NY late [10 hour flight] on the 24th so we were thinking of staying a few extra days in NY after the cruise. Is anyone else thinking of doing this? We would love to see a play, do some shopping, and hit a few of the resturants featured on Diners Drive in's and Dives. :woohoo:

Well i'm off to look up the waterpark. Have a nice evening all :grouphug:

I was thinking :lmao: the day that we stop in Port Canaveral and do WDW do you think we will have to stay the whole entire docked time? I have Fibro REALLY bad  and would NEVER be able to spend the whole day there. Do you think they would have busses throughout the day to take us back to the ship? Also for those who have been to WDW before, have you or would you allow your teenagers to go on their own once you are all in the park? And just met up thoughout the day at diffrent meeting times/places? We have done DL many, many times and I know it is a much smaller venue and Ca adventures is literally steps away from the front entrance to DL so we have no issues with allowing our girls to go for a few hours on their own. But I know that WDW is a MUCH bigger area...so would love to hear any thoughts or opnions. :goodvibes Have a nice afternoon all :grouphug:

I posted this as a regular thread as well..

We have been to WDW sooo many times and just returned this past January. I was asking if anyone thought Disney MIGHT allow us to do a waterpark instead of WDW since we have a park hopper pass.

I might call them and ask, but since the itinerary is sooo new for them - they might not have any answers.

I was thinking about Atlantis too but would rather book privately, maybe saving some money --- does Atlantis do private tours --- love to use their waterpark.

Thanks - hope everyone is well...

I'm sooooo looking 4ward to this!

I have fibromyalgia too. As well as rheumatoid arthritis. So I'm hoping that DCL will have buses running back to the ship continuously throughout the day. Or at least, start in the afternoon, and at regular intervals.

I would allow teenagers to go on their own and meet up with you, especially if they will stay together. There is a direct monorail between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot; and there is a boat/ferry between Epcot and Disney Studios. The only park that is accessible only by bus is Animal Kingdom. WDW property is the size of the state of Rhode Island, so yes, it's quite different from Disneyland. :)

I'm sooooo looking 4ward to this!

I know that people have mentioned that they took their own transportation over to Atlantis. Not sure if there are private tours. Have you checked cruisecritic.com? Go to their "Ports" section and look under Bahamas. :)

Yes, I posted over there too :)

I have to search a bit more on the ports over there as well and plan on heading over there after I post this.

I'm on hold with Disney right now to see if we can do a water park day instead of the parks...

Otherwise, Animal Kingdom might be on our list for this day, as we haven't been there in about 2 years.. We just returned from the parks.

Nope, no water park pass. She said only the 4 major parks.

Oh well, was worth a try.

Well that stinks that they won't let anyone use the ticket for a waterpark. I don't see what the difference is, really. :confused3

How did you make out over on cruise critic?? Were you able to find anything out? I'm still not sure what we're going to do in Nassau. Part of me wants to just stay on the ship but we've never been there before, so part of me wants to do *something* there.

I figure that we'll be getting a lot of sun during the sea days, and of course at Castaway Cay, so maybe we don't need to do a beach day in Nassau.... :scratchin The Ardastra Gardens tour sounds good and seems to get good reviews. :surfweb: I think it'll either come down to Ardastra Gardens or Blue Lagoon Beach Day. With my health issues, I don't know if I'd be able to tackle all of the walking that it would take to really see the Atlantis aquariums, although I'd love to do that some day.

In other news: We just paid the cruise off today! :yay: We had the money aside for the cruise and DH and I were talking and decided to just pay it off so that it's one more thing off our minds. :upsidedow

What's Ardastra Gardens and Blue Lagoon Beach?

I've been to Nassau but we just did the straw markets, etc... And went over to stay at the HI Paradise Island.

I'd love to do Atlantis, will have to see how much the room costs.. With that - how does one check in at 3pm?? Or do you just check-in in the morning and go back to shower after actually checkin? Am I making sense LOL

I'm disappointed with the water park thing... But we might just do Animal like I said since we haven't been there in about 2 years.

Just this past January, we did WDW, Studios and Epcot.

Have a good day!!

(I'll edit this post or repost if I find out any information regarding Atlantis or Comfort Suites, cause I'm sure it'll be more money as I need 6 adults and 1 child and if you have to pay for each additional person, theres where the cost might get higher)

Okay - Comfort Suites - 3a1c is $260.00 per night, the other 3adults in another room is also $260.00. $520.00 plus tax I'm assuming --- compared to $169.00 per person for Atlantis but that has transportation.
