May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Terri - Happy Birthday to your son!:bday:

Amanda I too go back to school tomorrow, spring breaak is over!!:sad1::sad1: Are you a teacher? I teach Special education, third grade. Love it, wouldn't do anything else.

Easter was nice and calm, everyone enjoyed their dinner. This is the first year no one believes in the Easter Bunny. I miss it of course, but I also enjoy the independence of older kids now.

So I am looking into getting a sewing machine. I am pretty crafty, so Nicole wants some special outfits!!

I'm actually a student! I'm a math major in college, and this trip will be a graduation present for my boyfriend and I since next year will be our last year of college! :woohoo:

Thanks for being a special ed teacher, patti. :) My DSs are out of school (they're 23 and 20 now) but they had excellent teachers and I was always very appreciative. I think that teachers don't get enough credit!

Amanda, speaking of going back to school, I noticed that you go to Stony Brook! My nephew went there several years ago and he loved it! He has gone on to get his masters from Utica, and he's been coaching college level football for the last few years. :)

Robb will have one more year of college after our cruise. He's finishing up his sophomore year right now. You must be a year older than he is? Or you skipped a grade? :)

Good Morning everyone!! I just ordered a sewing machine to make some"magic" for my family on the cruise. When we went to Disney in Nov. I had shirts for everyone and had so much fun doing it! Nicole is NOT a princess and will kill me if I make anything with flowers or ruffles, so..:rolleyes1:rolleyes1! I am thinking pocketbooks, maybe a fish extendeder. The Disbotique has great ideas! ( I know I spelled that wrong, but I hate spelling!)

I actually had enough credits from high school that I'm able to graduate a year early! :)

Good morning everyone :wave2:

I just faxed over the authorization forms to transfer our reservations to Dreams Unlimited. It will be nice to have an onboard credit waiting for us, and I like the idea of supporting the DIS boards through their sponsorship. :)

I'm at work right now and I plan on playing the Castaway Club CD with relaxing tropical music. I have it on my iPod. I also have the soundtrack to the music loop that they play at the Polynesian resort. :sunny:

I've never done the whole fish extender thing, so I don't know what I'm going to get or make, yet. I don't sew, but I can be crafty when I put my mind to it. :upsidedow I wonder how many people this thread will get, and how many will want to participate in the FE exchange :scratchin I've read on other threads where they broke up the exchange into smaller groups, to make it more managable.

Wow, Amanda, that's great! :teacher: There will be a lot to celebrate next year on the cruise. :sunny: Have you been on a Disney cruise since turning 18? Robby hasn't, so he's looking forward to going to Palo for the first time. I really want to try and get reservations for dinner, brunch, and the tea.

Just wanted to say Hey! We too are booked for the May 25 Magic cruise out of NYC and I am so excited. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise. Our first was April 9 - 16, 2011 and we LOVED it. What an experience. We knew after the first day that we would be booking a cruise for 2012 and when we saw that there was one out of NYC with a stop at Disney, we knew that was the one for us. We are from Cleveland, Ohio. We haven't made a decision on transportation to NY, but I'm thinking we are going to drive. On our trip will be me, DH, MIL and my 3 kids (boys 7 and 4) and girl (2). I am so excited for details to come out so I can really start planning.

Welcome aboard, Jodie!! :welcome:

I have added your info to the first post, so now it's official! :cool2: LOL

I'm looking forward to more details, too. Specifically, I'm waiting to see what pre-cruise hotel package DCL will offer. We'll be driving down the night before from Massachusetts, and I'm hoping to find a hotel that allows us to leave our vehicle parked there for the week.

I love the fact that we'll have a day at WDW in the middle of this cruise. :thumbsup2

I haven't yet, but I'm going on the Dream in August! I'm really excited to finally be 18 on a Disney Cruise!

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

Just think ... in 13 months we'll be leaving on our trip. Doesn't it seem like we're wishing our lives away waiting for our next vacation?!

Mike and I have never done a FE before. I am not handy at all, but my mom is, and she used to make something similar for us for Christmas when we were little. I explained to her that she was already versed in such things, and she agreed to make one for us if we get her the material and give her the measurements. I've always held off on FE exchanged because I didn't want to pack stuff to give out nor pack it to bring home. But I think we will do it this time since we're not flying. I hope others are interested!

Jodie

Just wanted to say: Hi Jodie. I'm Jodie! So not used to having other Jodie's around! I was named for my dad and grand-dad, both Joseph, but Jody when they were little. My mom had another name picked out for me, but then went with Jodie as soon as I was born, a last minute change, and I'm proud to carry the name to honor 2 VIPs in my life. I find that most other forms of Jodie I meet are either named for someone else or derived nicknames. How did you get your name, if you don't mind sharing?

I've never done a FE before, but my parents and sister did on a cruise they went on without me. Since we're going on the Dream in August, I made a FE for us while I was on spring break. I'm really proud of it!

I used the no-sew instructions, but they didn't work 100%, so I hand sewed the pockets to make sure they were secure. I also reinforced the part where the dowel goes with real thread, so it wouldn't fall off.

Hi everyone.... add another JODY to the roster! My friend Jody and I are cruising togther (a little "Moms get-away"). We've been friends for over 25 years and now that our kids are pretty much grown, we are finding some time to escape for "Girls Weekends" ( ok, ok, this is longer than a weekend and we ARE going to WDW without the kids, but hey... we've earned it!) We originally hoped to book with our two friends who live on Long Island (who we met on a Disney cruise a few years ago and have continued to visit with several times a year), but they aren't able to make it work out, so we went ahead and booked anyways. We've both crusied quite a bit with our famlies, but are really looking forward to being able to drive to the port.

It's not THAT far away.... and it will give us something to look forward to during the long cold winter! Soon we'll be under a year to sailing, and we all know how fast a year goes by! Karen

Hi there Jodie! Like the name :) Not too many people with our name... especially spelled the way it is. Nothing fancy behind the name for me. I guess my parents just liked it. They are quirky like that :)

I know that sometimes it seems that we're wishing our lives away waiting for our next vacation, but I look at this way - it gives me all this time to really enjoy the idea of the vacation, and to read over trip reports, look at pictures, etc, and to plan what we might want to do, and to put away money! LOL

I have no idea what I'm going to do for a Fish Extender. LOL How about if I just hang a plastic bag from the fish?? :confused3 I am just kidding, of course. :lmao: But wouldn't that be funny??? Hehehe!

I also have no idea what to make as the FE gifts!! Personally I love magnets, so I was thinking of making some kind of magnet with our cruise info on it. But I don't know. Guess these next 13 months will give us all time to come up with something (whoever wants to participate, that is!). :cool2:

That is so cute Amanda, it looks great!!! :thumbsup2

Hi Karen, welcome!!! :welcome: I will add you and Jody to the list of cruisers on the first post! :surfweb:

I agree that, come next winter, dreams of this cruise will be very helpful to endure the nasty weather.... :cold: LOL

Karen, where in MA are you? We're on the southshore, about a half hour south of Boston. :cool2:

Wow! Welcome aboard everyone, Jodie, Jodie, Jodie and the like!!!
