hi everyone!please count 3 more to the party!!!
my name is gabriela(35) ,and saling with me will be dh(vitor,37) and dd (matilde,5).
this is going to be our 3º disney cruise.
we are from Portugal,and sice we take our first cruise in the med we are dcl fans.
this will be our first time in new york,and we are planning to arrive at the 21,and tour the city,and then to relax we have the cruise.
we are very excited to finaly go to castaway cay(just hope that we don´t miss that).
we can´t book our flights already,but i think we have a direct flight,from lisbon to newark,and we probably will be staying in the marriot marquis in times square.
i´m looking forward for this year of planing and to meet all of you,also we will love to participate in the fish extender trade.

Welcome, Gabriela! Glad to have you aboard! How exciting that you are from Portugal. The only part of Portugal we have been to was Madeira, on our last Disney cruise. Beautiful island, but I would love to see more of Portugal!

Mike and I are busy getting ready for our Princess cruise, which leaves ... next Thursday! It's a great 9-night itinerary out of NYC. Mike just booked our car service today, and I nearly fell over. Our r/t airfare to FL in September is cheaper than our car service to the port!! My goodness.

And, my fat butt is really upset with myself for going into this cruise looking like a full back. Next cruise ... I swear I'm going to drop 20-25 pounds. I have to. I'm disgusted with myself!

Count me in! I put our deposit down tonight! It will be me (Cristin) and my mom and we're from central NJ. This is our first Disney cruise and so excited they are sailing from NYC. We previously have only done RCCL out of NJ and WDW vacations.

Welcome Cristin and Mom! You will love the Disney cruise, there is nothing like it!! My in-laws have booked too and will be celebrating their 50th anniversary!! Not to mention built-in babysitters!!! I can't wait!!! We are doing a small trip to Washington this year in August to see the Phillies. What is everyone's plans for this year's summer vacation?

No plans for this summer as of yet. My company will be closing and I will be out of a job by the end of the summer, so I'll probably work through the summer and then take "vacation" when I get laid off.

Patti, we were on a Royal Caribbean on July 4th a few years ago and I remember that the servers recognised the holiday at dinner that night with the way they were all dressed (red, white, and blue) and they sang a couple of patriotic songs in unison during the meal. Maybe DCL does something like this too.

Yeah... I have a headache just thinking of starting a diet over the summer with all the bbq'in going on!

I'm going to give it my best intentions.... I didn't even weigh myself since being back LOL don't wanna depress myself!

I'm going to try and lose 50 - but 75 will do nicely!

How close to the port/NYC are you? We're in Massachusetts and still trying to decide what we're going to do pre-cruise. I'd like to be in NYC at least the day before the cruise.

ge0rgette: boy that is tough to type! Someone on the board will start a list - that list is emailed or posted to everyone just before the cruise leaves. Usually there are "pre" lists posted so folks have some idea of how many gifts they will need. Usually it is one gift per cabin but many folks do one per person. If a cabin is two different families the list will reflect that (example: I sail with Michael - we are NOT a couple, he lives in FL and I live in NJ)

The FE actually doesn't hang on the door at all...it hangs on the Mail Fish (except on the Dream and Fantasy: those ships have fish, seahorses, and star fish) These are located next to the door. It is where DCL, DVC, the spa and others leave papers for you. I am sure you can find pictures of them if you google it under images. As you can see from the picture - the FE itself has pockets for your goodies! You have the list of folks who are participating, then spend some time running all over the ship giving out gifts. It is a lot of fun!

There are other groups that put out extenders, so be sure to check the list carefully. You do not have to have a pocketed FE, anytype of item will work - I have seen shopping bags used!

When you make or get your gifts be sure to put your name on them (usually a sticker with your Dis name, RW Name, and cabin)
