May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

Hey Marsha! Getting close now    :woohoo: :rotfl: :woohoo:

Your little cinderella looks so cute, I wish I had pics of my little ones with the real princesses, can't wait to see yours.

How's the checklists and pre-packing going?

Elle looks so cute

She has grown p so fast:cutie:

thanks!! yes, she is!

Marsha, Elie is just growing before our eyes!! She's tooooo cute with her crinkled nose!!!

Enjoy that, because before you know it she'll be the teenager who says "hey let me see that...no, take it again, my hair is all wrong." :rotfl:

I love her crinkle nose...she's always done that!

And then after the take it again, it'll be "mom, stop taking pictures!"

:cool1: Single Digit Dance :cool1:

8 days!!! It's sooooo close!!!!

My youngest son loves his princesses! They are the ones he usually wants to see the most. Rapunzel is a must do this time. He was a little disappointed we didn't get to meet her in January, just saw her from a distance. My 7 year old doesn't feel the need to see the characters. :sad2:

This year I started digital scrapbooking, because I know that's the only way I'll get it done! I still haven't finished the album yet, or gotten halfway! Working on our January Disney trip, even though I got a photobook. Couldn't fit nearly all the pictures in the Photopass photobook without paying a fortune! I think it's the last time I get that package. I will still do traditional scrapbooking for all the older pictures I have... my youngest will be 5 this year, and I think I've only done an album for his first year. :rolleyes1

We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I'll miss the Poly and the monnorail, but I think we'll like it. We are driving, so that's a first for us. I am trying to prepare myself mentally, expecting it to be hot and crowded. We are spoiled going in January with low crowd levels. We plan for rope drop and back to the pool in the afternoon. I'm hoping I don't feel the need to do it all since we were just there in January, but who am I kidding?

oh, yeah, what a difference January to July!!! At least you'll get to enjoy the pools in July and the later evening hours. Our next trip will be in Jan 2012...been in January for just a quick weekend trip...

Thanks -- I really can't wait to see my girls with the characters. We went to a local fair and they had all sorts of characters (even a fake Mickey Mouse, Tigger and Tinkerbell) and Elie went right up to all of them. Woo Hoo!!

Nearly all of our clothes and toiletries are packed!!:cool1:

Next is the food, toys and paperwork (tickets, schedule, LGMH).

I'm starting to get more excited. Woke up this morning thinking...gotta finish packing.

Ack!! I just checked the 15 day forecast (yes, I realize it could change...) and it's

Thunderstorms
Rain
Rain
Rain
Rain
Rain

:headache::headache::mad::mad::scared::scared:

Oh, well, a rainy day at Disney can still be a lot of fun...guess it'll be Crocs and Ponchos for us!

Have you seen the really cute Mickey and Minnie ponchos they are selling in the parks? I had to buy the Mickey one for me, I have a use during part of the bicycling year.

Hmm, not sure...do you have a pic?

I have the castle ones (clear with blue writing) from a few years ago -- I love them. Also a bright yellow with Mickey on the back.

bummer! maybe that'll mean low crowds??

I know...I remember May last year or the year before had torrential downpours...my parents actually left early b/c they were just so tired of always being wet.

Hmmm, the forecast I looked at showed decent weather. My family will be there though and we do have that pesky rain curse so I apologize in advance!

I'll be crossing my fingers and praying for the rain to stay at a minimum!! NOT liking the forecast you found.

Tonight we have some more friends over to help us celebrate --- 1 week until Disney!!!

We'll have our Jake & the Neverland Pirates theme dinner pirate:pirate::

Appetizer: Skully's Flying Fruit Salad

Entree: Captain Hook's Fresh-Hooked Fish

Sides: Izzy's Pixie Dusted (Parm cheese) mashed potatoes

Cubby's Flatbread Treasure Maps (flatbread with a black food dye "x" in the middle ...then we'll fold them up like a scroll)

Mr. Smee's seaweed (cooked greens)

Thanks!! I really love doing the dinners as themes ... we started this last year, thanks to your creativity in your countdown disney days for Thanksgiving, and I think we will continue it.

Yesterday, Rachel said she wants a Rapunzel party for her 6th birthday...up until now it has been Jake and the Neverland pirates.

remind me when her birthday is so I can make sure rachel send sher something special

And please let Rachel know that my Rachel made a "mini-book" for her. We put it in the mail this morning. Rachel was so proud of it -- she did it all by herself.

she got it just a few days ago and really did love it...showed it right away to matt when he got home from work!

I totally can't wait to see them both all dressed up meeting the real Cinderella!!! Can't you just see it??

Here is our Jake & the Neverland Pirates Dinner party. It was a lot of fun.

Some decorations outside on our porch:

To enter you had to 'walk the plank' and say the pirate password (yo ho ho)

We started the night by doing a pirate puzzle, then moved on to dressing up like pirates. The 2 girls we invited (5 and nearly 3 yo) were a bit hestitant to dress up at first. Here is the puzzle and more decorations.

We marched around the house singing one of the J&NP songs:

After dinner we went into the yard to play on "Bucky" the play set and then Jerry set off "cannons" (stomp rockets) which the girls had a blast chasing after.

Then it was time to go but the little buccanears weren't ready to leave yet. So I read them the story of "Peter Pan" and had then act out some parts.

It was a very fun night and I'm glad we got to enjoy with our friends. I think we'll try to do the friend disney dinners from now on -- it also kills 2 birds with one stone!! disney dinners and entertaining friends!
