May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

Just had to share -- i went on amtrak's website to check prices, since they have a lot of discounts now.

Well for our May trip -- the return train is SOLD OUT!!

But for our January 2012 trip, the family room prices have dropped. I just saved $211.10!!!!!:dance3::cheer2:

Bummer on the May trip but yay for the discount for Jan!! I'm so jealous you get to go to Disney so much! I still dream of being a dvc owner!

This weekend we took our SUV to the car wash ... got the interior and exterior cleaned, then got the oil changed and checked and topped off all the fluids.

I got my hair cut and highlights put in yesterday. I decided to do something fun and got red and blond highlights put in so it's like a strawberry blond but you can only tell in bright light. I like it! It's something fun but still looks natural-like! :)

I have all the snacks packed, all of our clothes, costumes, toiletries and schedule/paperwork for Disney and the train bag.

Tonight I'll pack up the toys and my LGMHs and then just do final packing of the last-minute things I can't pack this early.

I think I'm mostly ready!!

I have a volleyball game tonight (indoors women 6s), a Girl Scout leader meeting tomorrow, a troop Girl Scout meeting on Wednesday, a sand men's 4's vball game on Thursday, a doctor appt on Friday and then we leave! Whew!! I'm tired already.:rotfl:

Yay for getting the car ready and your hair did. Pictures please! (you HAD to know we were gonna ask!)

Space Shuttle to Launch -- May 16th!!

Woo Hoo!! HOpefully, we'll be able to see it from WDW!!!

Date: May 16
Mission: STS-134
Launch Vehicle: Space Shuttle Endeavour
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center - Launch Pad 39A
Launch Time: 8:56 a.m. EDT
STS-134 Description: Space shuttle Endeavour will deliver the Express Logistics Carrier-3 (ELC-3) and the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-2) to the International Space Station.

That's awesome! It's really fun to watch. We used to watch from south florida when we lived down there. Even when I was at school the teachers would take us outside so we could watch the shuttle until we couldn't see it any more. :goodvibes

would love to see a pic of your hair!!

and while you're at it, would love to see a close up of your engagement pic we discussed earlier. hehe

You have a lot to keep you busy, so the time will just FLY by!

I'll try to get some pics today.

Yeah, you know men!;)

It looks like another wonderful party. Have a great trip and I can hardly wait to hear about it!!

Thanks!

Sounds like you are all set

Your hair sounds cute :cutie:

Bad Jerry

Oh how fun. WDW newbies will be fun, like a new experience for you

AKV looks really nice. If if I ever stay there, would love to get a savannah view :thumbsup2

I'm getting really close!! Parents arrive tonight for 2 nights so I'm hoping to totally finalize my last things while they are here.

How cool about the launch. That would be something to see, I would find that exciting.

I actually considered going to see the launch since it's only "an hour away". but after reading through the threads, they said that one hour can easily turn into 5 hour drive -- no potty, no food. You are just sitting on the side of the road/bridges waiting for the launch, that may or may not happen at all or may get delayed.

Quickly, I decided that we'll just watch it from WDW. The no potty, cranky kids and no air conditioning sitting on the side of the road with small kids is not the place we want to be.

Yeah, being a DVC member has totally changed our lifestyle. And having kids to enjoy Disney with also makes it the ideal vacation spot. I would like to go to other places too (carribbean, beaches, California, Europe) but I think we'll stick to Disney while they are young.

I'll try to get some pictures...you just need really good light in order to see the individual highlights-- otherwise it just looks overall lighter. guess that's an example of highlights done correctly!

How cool! That would be awesome to see as kids. I remember one or two of my classes would televise the shuttle launch but that's about it.

Weather.com changed 3 of our "rain" days next week to "sunny or partly cloudy".:dance3::cheer2:

I hope they are right!

(accuweather.com still shows rain for those same days)

I bet it does! I'd like to go to other places too but not until Alex is older and can really appreciate them. I went to DC when I was in elementary school with my folks and I hardly remember it.

Alrighty sounds good! Can't wait to see whether I can see the highlights or not! :goodvibes And yes, that is definitely an example of highlights done right. I don't like the way mine turned out when I had them done before Alex was born. They're too chunky.

Yeah it was neat. I just liked getting out of class

I usually go by accuweather since they seem to be right more often than not. Weather.com is hit or miss. I hope this time Weather.com is right and accu is not though! Either way, rain isn't totally bad. At least it clears out the parks.

I am going to be watching for you while we're there :) Here's hoping for good weather!

Ok, since some of you asked...here is my new hair color...up close under a bright light. It looks a LOT more red in this pic...w/o the bright light it just looks blonder.

And here is a close up of our engagement photo, taken in Fall 1997 at a local park. Those are actually real trees that had turned this beautiful red shade.

I leave tonight so I wanted to wish you a good trip! I will keep my eyes open for you at Epcot this weekend! :goodvibes

DC is a great place to visit too! We are very fortunate to live so close to DC.

Oh, you'll definitely be able to see the highlights in the photo above. My stylist told me that "chunky is in". last year before the July trip I got the chunky blond...this time wanted to try something different.

I'm routing for weather.com's forecast, too!

Same to you! I checked your schedule and it doesn't look like we'll be in the same parks on the same days but you never know.

Lessa -- have a great trip!! I'll definitely be looking for you guys in Epcot. I think your brothers will be hard to miss!:lmao:

LOVE the hair! And love the picture. You guys look so sweet! I was looking at my engagement picture yesterday and was thinking how young we look. That was almost 10 years ago. *sigh*

Yes you are! I wish we lived close to somewhere fun or a site seeing destination. I feel like there's nothing to do around here. Piegon forge and Gatlinburg but ... it's been over done.

Chunky is in huh? I dunno. I can't wait for my blonde highlights to grow out. I'm ready for my hair to grow out. I'm sick of this in between stage. I should never have cut it!

:thumbsup2

Marsha you are so cute!!! I love that picture of you and Jerry.

Your hair is such a pretty shade...lovely!

Just saved another $15 on Disney's Photopass CD pre-order. Someone on the May thread posted a new code to get additional $15 off.

But of course, I had already purchased at $99.95 and they wouldn't apply the code to my previous order.

So I bought a new CD prepurchase, had them delete the old one. But then they said that the $15 discount was NOT supposed to be for pre-orders and they are not sure how it let me do that.

i guess they are going to take it down soon. I sure hope they honor my $15 off though, since it did go through and I have the confirmation!

will be interesting to see what happens.

Yeah, when they asked why I canceled one and ordered another on the same day, I just said I'm using a different code that is better. They said, you can't get better than the $99.95. Ooops, guess I found the sliphole.

Gosh how could I forget about the photopass cd preorder? I need to get on that before our trip for sure! I'm planning on looking into a photoshoot at WL while we are there too.

OOh, we did 2 of the photoshoot (before they raised the prices) and thought we got some good photos.

FYI--within 1 hours Disney made the $15 discount code invalid on pre-ordered photoCDs.

Glad weather is starting to change :thumbsup2

I love your highlights. Very pretty

Your engagement photo is so nice...:cutie:
