May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

The Mark Twain is the same. There are a few seats on it but it is mostly a break from insanity. I love it though and try to ride it or the Columbia once every trip.

Just looked to see what rides will be closed while we are in WDW:

Primeval Whirl - Closed For Refurbishment [ Friday, April 01 - Wednesday, June 01 ] :headache: Rachel, Nana and I wanted to ride this one together...

The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management - Closed For Refurbishment [ Friday, April 01 - Monday, August 15 ] I'll be happy to see Iago go but my girls really enjoy singing the "Tiki Room" song, so this will be on the list for Jan 2012.

Liberty Square Riverboat - Closed For Refurbishment [ Monday, May 02 - Wednesday, May 25 ] We have yet to ride this with our daughters. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be open on May 20th ...no biggie if not, but Rachel thinks it would be cool to do.

I hated primevil whirl. Totally gives you whiplash.

I'm so glad they're taking the newer characters out and taking it back old skool (tiki room)

I've never been on the river boat. It just never appealed to me.

OT...

Some of you know that I am a Daisy Girl Scout Troop Leader (1st time). One of our service projects this year is to (help) make 1,000+ paper cranes for Girl Scouts in Japan. When 9-11 happened, girls in Japan sent American Girl Scouts 1,000+ paper cranes as a sign of friendship, peace and support. So we are doing the same. Girls will receive a patch for their uniforms and a portion of the proceeds from the patch will also go to Japanese relief efforts.

Here is the link to some photos if you want to see our troop (blue Daisies) and an older troop making the paper cranes.

Making the cranes is really both fun and relaxing. If you want to give it a try, just search You Tube videos and you'll need a square piece of thin paper.

That looks like fun! How awesome :goodvibes

sorry you'll miss out on some things becuase of refurbs...makes me think I should check for Oct.

that is so wonderful you are involved w/ the paper crane project I heard about that on the radio :thumbsup2

Hi Marshay,

Sorry, you don't like Primeval -- I think it's just a cute little ride.

What a nice project :goodvibes

Thanks! It was fun to make them.

Yeah, Girl Scouts all over the US are doing it and also non-Girl Scout groups, too.

I just wonder what they do with thousands upon thousands of cranes??!!:confused3:rotfl2:

Hi Marsha!
Just wanted to say that we will now be able to visit Epcot Sunday afternoon for a few hours during the Pixar thing. They have added a few extra F!s over the week so we can do both now! So watch for us Sunday afternoon too!

Oh it is getting so close!! Are you packed?

Yeah!!! I'm really excited about this Pixar weekend...even if the lines are super long, I plan to snap a photo over the tops of people!!

Remember at 1pm on Sunday there is a Dismeet in front of the UK (Rose & Crown), too.

Oh it is getting so close!! Are you packed?

I know ... only 15 days!!!

No, I'm definitely not ready...I made some good progress a few weeks ago but then we traveled to PA for my dad's 70th party and I was shopping for new appliances on my "pack day" when my parents had the girls.

I REALLY need to get started today. We did finalize the girls' clothes and which costumes the girls are taking. Then I started working on writing up the schedule, ADRs, fun things to do, etc...

Elie is only napping about 1/2 the time now...so that has totally thrown my planning off. But at least she is still napping...my friend's daughter who is 3 months older has given up the nap altogether -- ACK!!!

I live for naps!!:cloud9: (meant my daughter's naps, but hey, I love a nap, too...need to take one sometime!!)

On the weekends everyone naps in our home - even Chris and I - well I guess Tyler doesn't but he sits quietly in his room and does whatever it is that he does. The rest of us pile into our king size bed and it's family nap time -

As Special Agent Oso would say, "sounds like a plan!":thumbsup2

So last Friday night we had our Tangled dinner party with some good friends. Everything was wonderful and the girls had a great time. It was nice to share our Disney dinner with friends.

Upon entering the Snuggly Duckling (our house) Restaurant and Bar, Rachel made her own "braid" all by herself!! I was quite impresed. She also colored Flynn Rider and gave him a pig nose, like in the movies where he says, "now that's just mean!"

Rachel got an early Disney trip present -- Rapunzel's nightgown and wig. They didn't have her size for the actual dress/costume, and besides it's like $70. but I was able to get her the nightgown.

Elie had gotten the Rapunzel dress ($8 at JCP!!!:cool1:) for her birthday.

When our friends arrived, the girls did a Tangled craft -- make your own Princess crowns -- aren't they beautiful?

And our food:

Flynn Rider's Cantaloup boats with Banana and Pineapple lanterns
Rapunzel's Angel Hair Pasta (yellow food dye)
Stabbington Brothers Meaty Muscle Balls with Swords (toothpicks)
Mother Gothel's Beauty Sauce (black food dye)
Pascal's Vegetables
I have a dream punch
Maximus' Apple Pie

And of course, Rapunzel's Tower of Garlic Bread w/Pascal (olives) and some of Rapunzel's hair. I forgot to tell Jerry not to break up the pasta so it could hang down the entire length of the tower...oh well...it still works

After dinner we watched Tangled and ate my speciality popcorn (pop corn mixed with choc chips, cranberries, gingerbread marshmellows and vanilla goldfish -- the contents change each time depending on what snacks we have in the house)

While the adults drank some after dinner drinks.

It was a fun evening!!

Marsha,

How fun that looked. I really think you ought to be a party planner. You have such original ideas.

Awwww, thank you!! I actually interned after college with a Party Planning company, to see if I'd like it. I did, but at the time felt that I wanted to do something more to "change the world" so I took a real job instead:rotfl:

Now, I would love to do something like that...except that all/most of the parties are on the weekends and evenings and I'm not willing to give up my family time for that. Maybe in the future...

This may sound crazy but what about submitting articles to Family Fun magazine and that type or writing a book about party planning?

Marsha..
