May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

Ok, forgive me for being so slow to get over here (I have to go read pages 3-12, too), but O.M.G.- we are totally going to be in all of the same places for at least 3 days in a row. I am going to be in DtD on the 17th, AK on the 18th, and DHS on the 19th!! Too funny. The train looks like a great way to get to Disney, by the way!

Oh, April that is sooo cool! I reallly do hope to run into you at least one of those days. So if you see us, please say hello!!

Your parties look awesome! I love the themes & costumes.
Elie in the Cinderella dress was adorable!!! I think it's so cool that you are surprising them with dinner in the castle.
I am bummed about the same refurbs that you are. I love the Tiki room, Primeval Whirl, & the Riverboat.
I love that you're sending the paper cranes to Japan. I think that's just SO cool.
I bet we will cross paths next week. Just be on the lookout for red hair, glasses, and a big camera. :rotfl:

I definitely will!!! Immediately after the Wild Africa Trek I will be at the egg roll stand between Africa & Asia. :lmao: I'll be there stuffing my face for a while!

That is our engagement photo. I really like it too! Man, were we young then. (13 years ago)

Just had to share -- i went on amtrak's website to check prices, since they have a lot of discounts now.

Well for our May trip -- the return train is SOLD OUT!!

But for our January 2012 trip, the family room prices have dropped. I just saved $211.10!!!!!:dance3::cheer2:

yeah, I dislike going to sold out events (yes, you can tell I'm getting old!) but no worries, we have our tickets and are good. It'll just be a crowded train. The only place it will affect us is the lounge car, since that fills up really quickly to watch the movie, and just hang out. but we can always take our hot chocolate and choc chip cookies back to our room to enjoy.

Rachel (and I) were both born on July 13th!!:thumbsup2

I will remember :goodvibes

Oh, I can't wait to read about Monkey-tail Salad -- I already want to do that for a "jungle junction" disney theme dinner!!

working on a post on my PTR but for you and your readers here...here is a pic of the meal:

100_9832.jpg

explanation...I can't quite remember how this came to be, but I was inspired by a real recipe and changed it up a bit to fit my family's tastebuds. I love eating salds as a the main dish in the summer, but it can get borring for the kids...so Matt could have been the one to come up w/ this.

Monkey-Tail-smoked or polish sausage (you can grill or boil meat and slice)
Drangonfly wings-spinach leaves
Frog eyes (green tree frog to be exact)-sliced grape tomatoes
snail shells-med cooked shell pasta
we'll mix it w/ bug juice (Italian dressing)

sometimes I add in cucumber too...but forget what we call that, and this time we also added fried worms-crispy french fried onion  ENJOY!

wow..what another fun party it looks like you had

You all looked awesome dressed up in your Pirate Garb pirate:

Where did you get that blue pirate hat for Mr. Potato head? That is one piece Trent does not have

The food looked great too

WOO HOO...on January savings!!!!

Where u staying for January trip? popcorn::

Thanks! It was a fun party and I enjoyed dressing up...Jerry said he wants me to dress like a pirate again ... but next time w/o the white top!;):lmao:

I thought we got the pirate hat from DTD, once upon a toy. But it could have been from Freecycle.

We will only have enough points for a 2br at AKV-Jambo house or OKW and our friends chose AKV. I think it's a great choice since Natalie's daddy went on a real safari in Africa and they all love animals and there is just so much more to do at that resort. It'll be their first time at WDW (they go to Disney land in Cali) and I think AKV is a great representation of the uniqueness of WDW.

This weekend we took our SUV to the car wash ... got the interior and exterior cleaned, then got the oil changed and checked and topped off all the fluids.

I got my hair cut and highlights put in yesterday. I decided to do something fun and got red and blond highlights put in so it's like a strawberry blond but you can only tell in bright light. I like it! It's something fun but still looks natural-like! :)

I have all the snacks packed, all of our clothes, costumes, toiletries and schedule/paperwork for Disney and the train bag.

Tonight I'll pack up the toys and my LGMHs and then just do final packing of the last-minute things I can't pack this early.

I think I'm mostly ready!!

I have a volleyball game tonight (indoors women 6s), a Girl Scout leader meeting tomorrow, a troop Girl Scout meeting on Wednesday, a sand men's 4's vball game on Thursday, a doctor appt on Friday and then we leave! Whew!! I'm tired already.:rotfl:
