May 2, 2014 - A WONDERous trip through the Locks WBPC

Hi All:cool1:
The DW and I will be disembarking in Key West and heading to a close by Liqueur store :drinking: to fulfill our every need for the cruise. We have bought and brought alcohol on board before in port and as long as you don't try to bring it through customs you are OK. :dancer: Alcohol bought at Duty Free shop is held till your last day for embarkation ( look for specials throughout cruise).:sail: We have lugged it around before and it sure is cumbersome before getting into our room.:headache: But to each thier own of course and what ever works for ya. How many hours are folks signing up for at the ETOH festival? I think we are going to do 1 hour for sure and will be sending info through paypal.:surfweb: I hope everyone is having a great day, and of course CARRY ON.:firefight

Is it better to pick it up in miami or key west?

I will pick up some wine in Miami. Our plans for Key West are pretty tight with us doing an excursion in the morning and me wanting to walk to the Southernmost Point to take some photos after lunch. I will just get a couple of bottles of wine for the cabin and a bottle of sparkling wine for the Champagne and Tiara Meet. We are not big drinkers and I am doing quite a few of the tastings.

What is this? I don't recall seeing anything referenced as ETOH. Thx.

EtOH = Ethanol ... Ethyl Alcohol ... (the drinking kind) :drinking1

Shorthand used frequently by medical, fire, EMS and police (spreading to general public use as well now) :firefight

"How much EtOH do you think he has on board?" ... Wondering how intoxicated the person is. :scratchin

I think the highest I have seen is in the 480's (0.48) ... as we all know, legally intoxicated (when you get in trouble with the law, at least in my state) is 80 (0.08)

Remember ... DON'T :drinking1 and :car: (or :drive::moped:)

I guess that's why we have someone driving the boat for us! :sail:

Hi All:cool1:
Thanks ERDocG for the definition tot he etoh ref I made last pm.:drinking1 The legal limit is the same here in TX also at .08 as it was in FL where I was from.(got out of a lot of jury duty when they found out I was a PM/FF):firefight
As for being soused and driving-not on yours or my life!:moped: I was just suggesting that we have brought it on board during debarkation and it can be a pain as you may have to wait quit some time for your cabin to be ready.:confused3 Hoping to meet you and your better half on our luxury yacht through the locks doc, and I hope I don't become a GOMER.LOL:rotfl2: Carry On:firefight

Wasn't thinking that at all (about :drinking1 and :car:). Figured a PM/FF (as well as anyone else in the medical/legal/public safety/law enforcement community) would not even consider.

Sounds like a good idea :thumbsup2 to bring favorite drinks on board. Nice to hear all the different options, and it's great to have some experienced Canal Cruisers in the group.

Also, a great big :thanks: to all those organizing all the different activities.

Hi All,

I've added some more photos to the Roll Call page. Keep them coming! Updated the various tasting events on the Meets page too.

Oh, and we continue to add to the DIS Dining list. We are working on a second table.

Hi ERDocG :cool1:

How long have you been in Emergency Medicine? And please, I am a big jokester :joker:, you can't spend 33 years in EMS without a sense of humor.:clown: Time for some more craft projects.:artist: Carry on:firefight

Hi ERDocG :cool1:

How long have you been in Emergency Medicine?

Started moonlighting as a resident in 1996. :moped: Finished residency in 1998. :woohoo:

Also flew with Metro LifeFlight for a few years. :teleport: Currently also serving as Medical Director for 5 local squads. :firefight

Hi ERDocG :cool1:
Very cool Doc as I myself worked on Bayflite at the start up back in in 87 for 5 years, but also did a lot of aeromedical in Greenville, SC before hospital based choppers were not even a whispered wish. :teleport: You also sounded like Med control (which is a good thing) on the board and I will look to you for guidance on this cruise. :worship: Just advise the appropriate channel.:teacher: Talk to you real soon Doc, and don't be too hard on my brothers and sisters :grouphug:when they call in with their report after performing ALS.(just kidding Doc):woohoo: Talk to you later and I hope everyone has a great day. Hey Doc try to get me a FD shirt from your guys if you could size xl, I can get them one of mine if they want one, just let me know the size. You can pm me with the info. Thanks either way. Carry on:firefight

I see on the first page there's still a ? by PJ Breakfast. Nothing has been mentioned about this. Has anyone ever done this?

I don't think anything was ever organized.

Your question made me think of the forum on the board about PJ's. Started out as a poll about if you do it and when. Then it turned into disagreements/flaming. Some saying it was ok. Others saying it depended on what was considered PJ's. People saying it was so inappropriate and not family friendly. Apparently it is a hot topic. :rotfl2:

Can I bring my refillable mug to this PJ party??:lmao:

Hi All:cool1:
Well whoo doesn't like peanut butter and jelly? I know I do!:rotfl: Oh well, you can tell it is early in the am here. Honey where is that cup of joe you promised earlier?:stir: Have a great and WONDER-ful day everyone.:tinker:Carry on:firefight

For those of us with potty trained 2 or 3 year olds- are you bringing any swimming device (floaties, etc) for them or are they available on the boat.

I thought of bringing my DD's swim suit that doubles as a swim float. Its nice. I used it for her swim birthday party and she did so well with it. She is 3 BTW. Packs well and I got it at Target on clearance for 10 bucks. Her swim suits cost more than that. lol.

On another note, anybody have kids under 2 coming on this trip? I have a son who is turning one the day we leave and felt he needed some interaction while we are there.

We are currently at 15 for the Dora Tour in Cartegenas, if you are interested in joining us we have room for 3 more.

I have been emailing those that are signed up. If you did not receive an email or two from me and still wish to go, let me know right away!

Just making sure I didn't miss anyone or someone that wishes to join us!

Thank you!

For all of you returning an Alamo car to the Miami airport on embarkation day: I called this morning to confirm their times for the shuttle to the port. It runs every 30 minutes from 7:30am-3:30pm. You will need the 'return ticket' the Alamo agent gives you when you return your car in order to board the shuttle.

We hope to drop the car off by 11!

I really don't know if this is a change from last year but I just showed my receipt from when I dropped off the car. Maybe that's the return ticket you are referring to.
