May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I love it! What the heck! I'm with you, anything not done will work out on it's own!

Would someone mind posting a link to the FB page? I guess it is one of the 4000 odd posts a number of times, but it will take me an age to read all those through again.

Thanks

What shows will we get on board? On the 3 and 4 night Dream cruises there is something on in the theatre every night, but on the 7 night Fantasy cruises I seem to recall there were 'dark' nights. So what's the plan for 14 nights on the magic?

And also, whilst I think about it, how will dining work? Will we get a 7 night menu repeated or is there some kind of special 14 night menu?

Paul
There will be a show every night. On the seven night cruises there is a show each night, but not always the BIG shows. Some we'll likely have comedians, hypnotists, jugglers, that kind of thing. And I htink that on a 14 night cruise they also have a talent night of the CMs.

I'm not sure about the menus but I'm sure that Mandy or one of our other cruise mates will let us know.

We also keep it on the first post of this thread - one of the first few links within it. :thumbsup2

I don't recall any menus or shows being repeated on our WBTA, but I know others here have done multiple longer cruises and would know more. :thumbsup2 Plus with the Magic already doing 8-day itineraries, the chefs only have to come up with 6 additional menus ;) (I know, huge task, but I do think I recall a special Transatlantic menu one evening....)

Hopefully we will even have a Premear Movie out -- that is often shown in the main theatre, or even a special movie night that way.

Information overload :) But thanks for the pointer - I've just requested to join the FB group - Do I need to do anything else to get approved?

For the EBPC, it was 14 nights of different menus including a Panama Menu (which we skipped for Palo but sat with kids while they ate it) on Canal day, a Pacific Menu, then an Atlantic Menu, Cali-Mex menu, and an international menu. I can't seem to recall the others but remember that Prince and Princess menu fell on a cruise causal night which was so odd because the waiters were in tuxes.

Just took care of it :)

Luckily we keep all the info overload all on one page -- so when we forget things, can have it all in one clump. Love how Disboards allows editing of posts so that first page can always be the most updated page for events. CruiseCritic only allows editing of a post for 20 minutes afterwards, so every update has to be done within the thread. A pain in the rear!

The entertainment onboard is where the cruise is won or lost for me personally and of course the company, we have had great shows such a real fun crew night, with a great fun "If I were not upon the sea" and "Once upon a Song" then a concert with Jodie Benson and a meeting with Paige Hemmis of Extreme Makeover and of course time with Don "Ducky" Williams. Some things are easily overlooked on the longer cruises such as the talks in the theatre by historians about places we shall be visiting etc. Each cruise is totally different, for the kids one of the fun things to do is the Boatbuilding Bash for instance. Hopefully they will have great films also, I am hoping they will still show Lincoln and any premiere. I just remembered a few nights with the Bootleg Beatles and Charo (which was actually fun) and Flamenco dancers. I generally go to all the nights entertainment, one of the funniest is when we got to "take over" the kids club, however I am not sure DCL will allow this any longer as the adult humour directed back at the YA people was just so much fun, I am sure the kids would smell the alcohol the next morning and the double meanings came thick and fast.

I hope we should see a least 4 main stage shows along with similar amount of magicians and surprise acts, you never know DCL might out do itself. If nothing else at least you can head to the bars and Sessions for a bit of wind down music with Tim Moss. Two acts I wouldn't thank you for, would be the guy who plays his guitar next to the adult pool on the Dream, he should be serving life for murdering songs and the other would be Ricky Kalmon, nothing wrong with Ricky I would just like to see something else this time.

Anyway it's less than a 1000 hours till boarding:cool1:

There are 14 different menus. If you look at the website (I believe) there are copies of the Navigators from 2011 and it will tell you what the menu was then for each evening.

I'm listing by memory in no particular order...

Flavors of the Med
Savour the World
TransAtlantic
Villains
your usual rotation meals
Captian menu
Til We Meet Again
Master Chef
Pirates
Prince and Princess
Caribean
Let the Magic Begin

Those were the themes in 2011 (not saying they'll be the same or were the same any other time) so don't feel the need to correct me, I'm just giving info. ;)

We are organizing a walk-around to visit different category staterooms on the EBTA one mid-morning within the first eight days of the cruise. It would be particularly helpful to those who are either a) thinking about booking a future cruise or b) curious about layouts of rooms. If you would like to join in, and/or hopefully have your room shown, please PM me and I'll add you to the list. Particularly looking for the larger verandahs in aft, ocean view rooms, sideways inside rooms, and concierge suites. :cool1: Roy or Walt, anyone??? In addition, our Facebook EBTA page has a doc on Cabin Cruisers and people have already added some cabins to the list. Thanks!
BTW, this IS the same Staterooms Tour :cool1:that is listed on the first couple of pages under activities. I am trying to coordinate those of you on DISboards who are not linked to the EBTA on Facebook to add you to the grand list. If you have shown some interest in the past to Lysand's page, let me know and I'll add you.

Thanks for the tip - I ordered one today - it will be handy not just for the cruise but also while we're wandering around Italy !!

FABULOUS!!!! Now let's hope no one will have either of our cabin numbers or there will be one heck of a party!!!:rotfl2:

Are there any updates I need to make to the first post? I can change Tink's name for PJ Breakfast and Pin Trading (still hoping she comes back! :goodvibes )

Any dates to add to the calendar?

BadBrad -- haven't seen you post in a while. You still onboard for Pub Crawl?
Mandy, You can add my DISboards name on the Stateroom Tour if you wish. Still hoping that Lynn can help coordinate!:lovestruc

Hi Stevie

Thanks for the reply with loads of good advice. We signed up for the cruise just last week. It's kinda late in the game, but figured we can probably plan a post-cruise stay. We'll see...in any case, look forward to saying hello on the cruise.

Cheers,
Teri

Welcome aboard, Teri! There seems to be a ton of parents/grandparents who are so familiar with twins these days! We have 2 1/2 yr old twin grandkids :yay::yay:and 6 yr old twin grandkids ::yes::::yes::!!

I just updated post one to update no organizer for Pin Trading (or did someone volunteer), Ladyshopper for PJ breakfast, and add Gramfrog for helping coordinate Stateroom Tour.

Are there any events dates/times to modify or add to the calendar? Just making sure I have not overlooked any :)

They did this in the Wonder back in December and DH and I were the only ones who showed up :( DH steered the boat video game all night.... Everyone was laughing at him sitting in the tiny kid's chair since he is so tall. I had to drag him away!

I meet Ducky when I was two and have a drawing he did for me framed. Would love to meet him again! And get a Minnie. Last time my older sister got Minnie drawn for her and as the younger sister who got shafted, I got Mickey. Big sister won't be here to get Minnie this time.

I am hoping for Iron Man 3 on board.

I sorta started packing today as in grabbing stuff we need and dumping it in a suitcase. Don't tell DH but I am packing 15 dresses! I'll pack less of everyday clothes.

Nieces' passports came today so we can almost finish the paperwork. Just waiting on little sisters now.

I was informed I an getting a new supervisor at work yesterday which I am not thrilled about. Boss and I always threatened to leave if they separated us and it had worked for the last 6 years but the company that bought us doesn't work the way our old company did. They tried to soften us up with a raise but they knew when to hit us as boss leaves on maternity leave in a few weeks and I have this vacation. I hate stress right before a vacation! At least I am still approved for this time off!

We have had 20 plus adults doing painting cells and then we had a SOAP RACING NIGHT, that got competative and quite "adult" with the various "team" names, it was all good fun in the Oceanears Lab at past midnight. , with no kids around.

15 dresses, a woman after my own heart, my wife takes 2 sizes on a 2 week cruise and still wants more dresses. The easy way to do this is post a parcel by courier to the cruise line with additional items, your husband will never know unless he reads the boards of course.

My wife wants all ladies to be aware that 2 sizes are reqd for the cruise, week one dresses and week 2 dresses. We had a friend who didn't adhere to the advice on a 7 day cruise, on day six she couldn't fit anything!! even with the aid on spanx (thats a unmentionable word)

I no longer bring traditional books - I utilize eBooks or audiobooks - especially since I'm a reading addict - I'll download 20 books for my 5 weeks - I know - don't say .........

me either! I bring my nook with lots of books to read.. and download some from the library right before I leave.

2 week menu's..we have done the PC and Hawaii..Didn't have a repeat of menu's, although we had lots of fish on Alaska. (Yummy).

As far as entertainers, I hope John Charles joins us..he is great.

:lmao::) yep.I bring two sizes of clothes too..I thought I was the only one..

Ours was also racing and it got headed between DH and I! We placed bets and all.

Currently, I have three sizes packed! I have varied in weight over the years but that might change depending on what my sister borrows and what I want to borrow from her!

Wonderful, I will definitely order one. This will certainly solve our wine "problem". We also enjoy trips to Napa and it's crazy but most vineyards can't ship to Louisiana. This will help us get wine back home on our next Napa trip too! Thanks Again Gramfrog!!
