May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

For all those on the private Gibraltar Tour: Please check your email as a response is needed, if you are on the tour and did not get an email from me, let me know!

I am a bit bored so I decided to see how many staterooms were left on our ship according to the website. Inside cabins show there are 35, window 32, and veranda 24. I am not sure if those are the real numbers or not but were the cabins that showed were available.
Wow!

Since no else else has done it yet....

40 days!! :cool1:

OMG, is that all? Where is time going??!

I have spent this weekend ill with a throat infection, which has now turned into a horrible cold as well.

However, I am a very very happy Mummy, as my DD14 has just returned from a 12 day expedition to Romania where she was trekking and doing community work. She is exhausted and was crying her eyes out when she got off the bus, which set me off, but has had a wonderful time despite missing her family.

She is now tucked up in bed, and won't be doing anything tomorrow until she has had a nice long shower, as she tells me in 12 days she only had 3 showers (gross!!!)! I think they were all as whiffy as each other when they got off the bus - would have hated to be a passenger on their plane!
Glad she's home safe and sound, even if a bit dirty!

I finally got our hotel in Houston. I wasn't in a rush because I was going to use priceline and wanted to wait a little bit. I decided to try it out tonight and got Hyatt North Houston which is in the IAH area. So you can add us to the hotel list.

YAY for 40 days!!!!

I have send out emails and a few people didn't responded yet:

Could you please respond asap to the email???

Thanks

Are there any additional, localized pre-cruise meets I need to add? I know they were discussed at one time (is it the IAH group having breakfast somewhere?) :confused3

Hi all,

Just thought I would let everyone know we received our cruise documentation booklet, and luggage tags in the mail yesterday!!

In addition to the quite daunting group of runners each morning tearing up the promenade deck (and I am quite jealous of your stamina and energy), are there any of you willing to WALK the three laps to make a mile each morning? :rolleyes1 I would love some company ( and prodding). At 60+ (but still wildly chasing little kids around the house, shrieking:rotfl2: ) the running stages of exercise are quite a bit behind me now. But I don't have room in my suitcase for two sizes of clothing....:rotfl:

There are many members of the Running Club that are walkers, not runners! We are open to both and I am sure you will find a friend or two or three to walk with!

I will be walking I think - I was hoping to master the running in time for the cruise but ended up hurting my knee in the process. I appear to be more suited to walking!

I have send out emails and a few people didn't responded yet:
  • Msaxon
  • Tubbsteruk
  • binkytell
  • Aunt Gram

Could you please respond asap to the email???

Thanks

Everybody responded to my mail.

Thanks for getting back to me!!!!
Y'all will receive another mail from me soon (probably Friday).

I'm a walker :) And so is mother-in-law traveling with us (in the mid-60 category). We are hoping to both be up in the mornings.

For those staying at the IAH Marriott what are your plans for Friday night? It seems very costly to rent a car to go into town, a cab sounds expensive as well. The restaurant does not seem like a family place so we are debating what to do.

Got my documents today. Noticed DCL gave me a middle name, something I don't have. :confused3 Had to call and have it removed, didn't want any issues.

Our flight doesn't get in until after 10:00 pm, so we will probably be straight to bed.

Wow, can't believe we are so close to sail away!

Still trying to book our flight haha. (I keep hoping it will go down -- it's been the same price steadily for a couple of weeks -- Tuesday is the cheapest day on United every time, so I'm buying today at some point).

Thanks for the recommendations for 2 sizes of clothes. I would have never thought of doing that, but will definitely keep it in mind while packing. Got our cruise docs yesterday also! Yay!!!

It's those tidbits like that from others who have done a longer cruise that really helped me prior to our WBTA :thumbsup2 Love the helpful feedback these boards can give! :goodvibes

I just called DCL -- we had booked our current cabin back in December (originally booked day one but cancelled and rebooked when a better rate came out). Anyway, looks like our docs were mailed out April 3 for both of our cabins. I also asked about onboard entertainment, such as how we have had Charo or Ducky onboard the longer cruises previously. I was put on hold, she checked with Guest Services, and was told that special onboard entertainment will be kept a surprise. (We knew Villains Night in advance of our WBTA, and pretty sure we also knew in advance that Charro would be onboard.)

So if someone else calls tomorrow, it will be interesting to see any different responses on entertainment.

Stevie.... you are usually good about getting info ;)

I have never packed two different sized, just stuff that will stretch! I usually don't gain a whole lot on a cruise since we don't take the elevators unless we are in killer heals. That seems to help a lot, as well as being faster than waiting for the elevators.
