May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

We have had chip and pin for a while, but I can tell you sometimes they don't work, some times you forget your pin and in my experience you can sign in these cases. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Paul

BofA changed out credit card to chip one since Travelex did away with their chip cards.

Paul,

I will join you if I am not at the show, as some of these things take place around that time, however if you ever have the fortune to be on a cruise with Steamboat Will (Warren) get him and sidekick Abby in your team. They have more medals and cups that Sir Chris Hoy and great fun with it. I will help when available, just to warn you some people take this vey serious, Not me though.

Please remind me onboard, anything for a laugh.

Hi All,

Been a while since I popped by and it's getting close now and I thought I would put a request in.

I'm a major trivia freak - I will do all the trivia quizes on the cruise (although I only do the Disney ones for a laugh, compared to some of you I know NOTHING!). Are there any other trivia freaks out there that would like to join me in making a team bigger than 2 :)

Obviously will have to see the navigators to find out specific times on the days but would be good to know if anyone else if up for it.

Paul

Did you get good flights? I'm very pleased with ours.
I think they are ok. But we leave from BCN at 10:25am after we disembark and that makes me nervous (though less so since we are booked through Disney). But we'll be traveling for about 24 hours by the time we walk in our door. I suspect my children will be monsters by the time we get home :rotfl2:. But we also got seat assignments and on each leg (one to Texas, one from BCN to JFK and one from JFK home) we are all together, so that's a huge relief!

ETA We're on the first Med after the EBTA and will be flying home on the day we disembark that cruise.

We are also booked for a 1025 departure. Delta flight 95 into Kennedy. Like you we are also nervous about making the flight that early. Out agent is offering to check and see if an air deviation for a later flight is possible. While that might be a little less nerve wracking I wouldn't want to end upon a late evening flight and having to hang around with that much time on my hands. I am more leaning towards trusting DCL to either get us to the airport on time or make good on another flight, I understand that this is their standard practice.

Comments or suggestions? :moped:

Yeah, I am not going to pay the deviation fee as I figure they will put us on the next flight if we miss the first one. (And we're on the same one as you.)

My aunt and uncle booked their own flights and were told by DCL not to book the flight they ended up putting us on! My aunt is a bit miffed at this.

ETA We're not on your flight! Oops. We're flying home after the first Med cruise.

In 2011 we were on this 10:25 flight thru DCL and had no problems at all. I don't think there's much to worry about they will give us proper instruction as when to be off the ship.

We love 70's and 80's trivia. I got 2nd or 3rd place (to a DJ who got perfect scores and to an awesome group of 70's music buffs) in both of those on our last cruise. We also did the movie one and not so great there haha.

Just read that the Fantasy had soft pretzels as a snack last week, you put your own butter on with either salt or cinnamon/sugar. Yum! I really wish the ships would get Dole Whips.

Reminds me of when I was a teenager in the 1960's. We had a french bread machine in the cafeteria with hot buttered bread for 10 cents a slice....those were the days....

The Wonder had pretzels back in December but you only got your choice of mustard, I would have loved to add cinnamon/sugar. I would be in heaven if dole whips were added but I would gain so much weight!

Thanks cayla, I would like to see prices if you have them.

Do you go with wine package?? Is it recommended or would you bring your own.

I'm no wine connoisseur but I do enjoy a glass of red, if its bleurghhh I can't drink it just because its paid for !!
I do both actually! We bring our own for daytime enjoyment and use a package for in the dining room. Plus they have a Moscoto that we both adore and can't find in the states yet.

Dole whip is a subcontract - I doubt that it will ever be on the ships :(

Good to hear - I always wonder why they seem to put so many around dining - Seems crazy, but even still I caught enough daytime ones to pick up about a kilo of keyrings as prizes!.

I'll be on early dining, but as long as we know how to spot each other (I guess if I miss the first day meet, which I invariably do, we need a secret sign :) )

I'm always up for the 80s and usually do pretty well - UK was the place for 80s music and I was in my youth at the time hence spent most Sunday's with a tape recorder trying to 'edit' out the spoken bits between the tracks :)

70s not so hot on, but still not to bad. Have to remember those tunes my parents were playing when I was a child....

Anyway, I always try and hook up with other at the trivia. Particular someone from the US as it fills some gaps in my knowledge, although I managed to beat a 687 full of American travelling companions in the last TV Tune Trivia even though they were all (bar 1) US TV Shows. Too much wasted time in front of the gogglebox.

Got the operation date for the lump in my neck - its 6 days after we get back! Will only have 2 days back at work from my holiday, then this op.

Still waiting for a date for my big bladder surgery, which will be sometime around August/September time, or so I'm led to believe.

And also, just to make it a really good year, I've got to have surgery to have a wisdom tooth removed, as the nerve has died and there has been a massive infection apparently, and they don't want it to take the teeth next to it with it. I could have had this done with sedation/local anaesthetic, however I am a massive coward where dental work is concerned (I burst into tears in the chair last week when she told me I needed the tooth extracted because I'm such a scaredy cat), so she gave me the option of sedation or general anaesthetic, and I chose general!

Am really glad I've got this holiday to look forward to, and that I moved from the Med cruise in August I had originally booked, as I'm pretty sure some of the surgery would have clashed with that. The neck and tooth ones are kind of minor really, or as minor as surgery can be under general anaesthetic. The bladder one is a biggie though, with a weeks stay in hospital, 6-8 weeks recovery etc, so pretty scary.

Do you play songpop on ipod/ipad? I love that app!
