May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I had some questions about the linked dining. I know there was some discussion on FB about people wanting to switch tables and such during the course of the cruise. For my family we loved having the same table and server throughout the whole cruise, also my daughter who is six loved it too, because the server got know what she liked

and her drink was always waiting there for her with her favorite fruit, we loved that personalization from the servers. For my danger she is shy and takes a little bit to get to know people and having new people at the table every few days would not work for us. So, I was wondering if there was any other family out there who has a daughter around the same age who would want to stay at the same table with us, but still linked with everyone else so we can at least sit in the same area as all you great people? By the way we are late dining. Please let me know and hopefully we can work it out! Thanks!!

Moving tables every night doesn't suit us either and I'm not even sure dcl would agree to this being done. So not to worry about that, sign yourself up

Good Morning Everyone,

Being a bit behind the times booking so late, does anyone know what onboard entertainment is booked for the evening shows? For me I look forward to these and have thoroughly enjoyed acts like the Beatles tribute and even Charo who was funnier than I had first thought. For the art lovers we had a very large flamenco dancing family who were excellent. Looking forward to see what's on offer, but please no Ricky Kalmon. I may give them a ring later to try and find out.

Good Morning Everyone,

Starting to try and work out some basic logistics, and was wondering where to buy wine and spirits for the trip. Mandy has kindly noted the local stores, however I was hoping to go to either Target or Walmart in Galveston to do a "one stop shop" does anyone know if spirits and wine are available at both?

Many thanks.

It is on post #3 of this thread. I think nothing is final yet, pending the decision to break the whole group into subgroups or not. It's not that big right now (at least not for me :)), but I think it might get split due to luggage restrictions and such.

Oh of course, I didn't even think to look at our super first page! Thank you :thumbsup2

Cut off date is in April but not many new people signing up since PIF or discounts come out so next week I'm on annual leave so I will message everyone then with there group. At the moment it's 4 groups of 13 cabins. I do have lots of requests not to display children's names so it will stay private

Thanks Sarah, completely understand about the children's names, I was more interested in gender. Did we ask about children's interests? I cannae remember.

Look forward to the email so I can really start planning, I have a few ideas but wanted to make sure I was getting the right things for different genders, ages and group size. :)

I've been looking at Spec Liquor, they have a great website. I haven't been to Galveston before though - this is just what was recommended to me :)

I noticed there are a couple of people staying at Country Inn and Suites in the IAH vicinity. Could anyone confirm which one, as there seems to be 2 near there, and both are fairly good prices! Am considering booking, and would be nice to be in same place as others!

We are stopping at the one in Humble next to the shopping mall!

People please think about the Secret Mickey....

Please please please sign up adult, child, couple, single, whole family it doesn't matter it's all about the fun.

Gifts will asked to be small and not to weight a ton....

Come on everybody sign up!!!!
We are justa small group right now and we sure can use some more sign ups so that way it's a nice group to mixe up and asign people not to each other....

I am confused between a Magic Mickey and FE (which we've done before). Can someone tell me what is the difference between the two? THX

They are in Houston too! Thanks for the info.

Just quoted $263 for a one day, one way car hire. That's the most expensive I have heard of for an economy ever!

Secret Mickey:
You get somebody assigned to you.
You get information about that person so you can buy gifts that are really for the other person.
Somebody else does the same thing for you.
We probably going to do 2 or 3 gifts with a macimum total amount.
Secret Mickeys are staying secret untillthe SM reveal (probably during farewell lunch).

***you can sign up a child, adult, the whole family, the stateroom.

FE:
You sign up and you give gifts to all the other people that are signed up.
All the other people do the same.

You get more gifts at the FE but more general gifts.
At SM you get less gifts but more specifick gifts.
At FE everybody knows where the gifts come from and at SM you get to know at the end.

Hope this helps.

You can do both if you want to participating in one doesn't rule out the other one!!!

Ditto! We stay out as well. But don't hesitate dining with others at breakfast or lunch :)

I do like the open seating for breakfast or lunch. I do prefer to be waited on, rather than buffets, and it's a chance to meet people!:goodvibes

My last 2 cruises were on the Dream, I've never been on the Magic, and I forget what the Wonder was like. I can't wait to be on the Magic!

Yikes! I'm paying $120.99 for a 2-day rental of an economy car, including taxes, but that is from Houston Hobby.

I agree, I much rather be waited on! I hate the buffets. The buffet in the mornings always seems so chaotic and it stresses me out. I must rather start my day in a nice and relaxing setting while being waited on. I also enjoy a nice and slow pace lunch in the quiet. I believe the only time I ate lunch in the buffet during the EBPC was during embarkation and I don't ever remember eating breakfast there. I have also never shared a table with another party during breakfast or lunch. I didn't know they do that?

It seems to me, you go to a MDR that has seating for lunch, and they ask if you want to be seated with others. I say yes.

For the DVC Member Cruise in January, once for lunch I was met by a CM who asked if I wanted to be seated with other Singles, I told her, I wasn't single, but alone for the meal.:goodvibes Well, being alone was all that mattered. Eventually she got about 8 of us at the table and it was fun.

Ah, ok. Is it like, right next door? We don't have a car, but I know that one has an airport shuttle. I think all we'll be fit for is food then bed after travelling, but you never know, I might be able to fit some shopping in if its near to walk to!

I really must try this on this cruise. Other than the character breakfast, I have never had the sit down breakfast, nor lunch - I always end up going to the buffet!

I usually eat breakfast in the buffet on port days, but prefer the dining room when I'm not rushed for time. I also prefer to eat lunch in a dining room, although I don't mind snacking at the food venues by the pool. Then I hightail it out of there if it's crawling with kids. :teeth:

We prefer the MDR's as well. We didn't even discover the joy of seated breakfasts and lunches until the 5th day of our P&O cruise and regretted going to the buffets for most of our trip.
