Also this weekend we attended the birthday party of one of my dearest friends here in Rochester's 6 year old son. The party was a pirate theme pirate: and made me pine for our trip. All the kids got eye patches and bandanas and there was a "Pirates of the Caribean" birthday cake and everything....very fun!!

....ooh and the other exciting news is that Jason and I have decided to adopt a kitten! We've already met her and named her. She is a cute little calico kitten and her name is Demeter......10 bonus points to anyone who can tell me where I might have gotten that name from. She's so great and we've been having daily playdates with her, but she won't officially move in with us until after we return from our upcoming Disney trip (she's very young and won't be ready to come home until late this week or early next week sometime probably....but that would mean bringing her home here just before we have to get some stranger to watch her and then leave on our trip....so we decided t leave her where she is until we return).

I wish I could post a picture of her here, but I can't get the link to work for some reason.

Demeter is the Greek goddess of fertility, I think. Was she possibly in Hercules?

Only 11 days until I leave for my next vacation -- 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise on DCL and 4 days at WDW! I haven't been able to devote much (read: any) time to even thinking about this repo cruise, although I'm sure it is going to be absolutely fantastic!

Everyone keep posting and I'll keep reading and wishing I was as together as the rest of you and had my plane tix all lined up and stuff like that -- ha! Look for me to be doing that sometime after the first of the year....

That's true, actually, Demeter was one of the Greek goddesses.....although that isn't specifically from where I stole the name and I don't believel she was in Hercules (although she was in "The Clash of the Titans" which is another favorite movie of mine from when I was a kid). Actually, this pet name...unlike so many others I have chosen over the years...so close, but actually does NOT derive from a Disney background........ ;)

Hi all,

CSnyder: Happy Anniversary - do let us know about Italy when you return.

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: For all of you leaving for sunny Florida for the fun 10/11 night cruises - wish we were with you. You too, E&J have fun! :sunny:

Spent another hot day at DL yesterday, we wanted to see the final performance of the Snow White show before it goes away for the winter season.

Erik, I realized I called you Jason on the last page, Jason is still great, but I meant to address you - DUH :confused3 Sent you a PM listing for Ebay ties.

Cayla, check your PM, I may have found your pin.... NOt sure till tomorrow at Calif. Adv.

:teacher: The beginning of school (for us) means the beginning of the end of the waiting period for the cruise. We have been working our butts off to cram an entire year of work into a shorter time period so that we can take off those 5 weeks- man is it going to be a hard school year, but it will be worth it when we get on that plane to head to Florida!

Congrats on being adopted by a cat - they are wonderful! I am owned by three. They do keep me up during the day (I work nights and sleep in the daylight hours), but they are just willing to crawl into my lap for loving anytime! The biggest issue is finding a cat sitter...we have interviewed one lady - she starts this week whilst we are in WDW.

:surfweb: Hey, is anyone going to be on this board, while so many of you are in Florida having a blast this month? I know CACruisin will be home! :surfweb:

I'm home too-going away in October-but not to WDW :sad2:

:rotfl2: :surfweb: Yep, I'm here. School starts tomorrow for DD3  (me, not her ) Maybe then I'll have time to spend here. I took a walk on Monday along the beach. Thought about making ressie's for this trip: what days for the spa? what days for Palo? ah, peace and relaxment .....

I am going to WDW this weekend!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hey Padalyn..... I remember that you are going to the pin event. If nothing else, you can find me on Sunday at the Off Kilter stage. Usually on the left side of the stage.

And this is not a day to soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie

Debbie, What's the Off-kilter stage? Are you a big trader?

CACruisin: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That crying image is a riot!

DD3 is doing really well in preschool, let me know how DD3 did on your end. :grouphug:

Man, I hope everyone avoids that storm in down south.

I found us on page 3  so I had to bump up. I guess everyone is getting ready for all of their September vacations! Have fun everyone.

Decided we needed a September mini-vacation so we are going to DL next weekend!! :Pinkbounc See ya there milestogo!

:thumbsup2 See you there! I'm craving the Monte Christo sandwich already! Oh yea, I had one yesterday!

Went to DL yesterday for DS b'day, had a nice time and D3 went on Splashmountain for the first time and loved it. It was a big pin trading day and I found the Mickey surfboard pin I'd been looking for... now all I need is the other characters. Watched the behind the scenes of WDW again... there are so many fun different things there than we have out here. Can't wait to go again.

Mom Rules... get on a plane and join us - it will be warm (is it getting cold there yet?)

It's just starting to get into single digits (celsius) at night.
I would love to hop on a plane and meet you. I'll be close to DL in
October but won't be able to make it there. It's going to kill me knowing
it's about 2 hours or so away!

Jason and I are just 48 hours away from our flight down to the World....our first (of many) stays at our home resort at Saratoga Springs AND our first time (of many, hopefully) picking up and activating annual passes to the parks! I can't wait....especially because it's been around 60 degrees in the mornings and evenings here and while that might not sound that cold (especially to people who are talking about already getting single digit weather at night! *wink*).....it's a significant cool-off for us....and I'm just not ready to say goodbye to summer yet!!!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I thikn that for at least part of our stay we'll get internet in our room (although probably not every day cuz I can't see myself paying $10/day for internet when I could be spending that $10 on fresh baked ice cream cookie sandwiches at the Sleepy Hollow snack shop in MK or on a new tigger mug or something!! :Pinkbounc ). If we do get online I'll post.

:tigger:

Hey Erik, If you don't have to work spend that $10 on food, food, food!

I know what you mean about summer ending. We start the toughest lecture year we've ever faced (mostly because of the shortened school year due to the cruise!) We still have another month or three of good weather before the rainy season begins.

I have a question for everyone... :badpc: I've been working hard on 3 new lectures which made me wonder... :stir: If I wasn't writing and researching drugs and behaviors and was writing for a Disney cruise lecture what would I write about?

:tinker: What would everyone love to see as a lecture/class? :smickey:

Make one up...

That's easy - "(prescribed drug of choice) or a Disney Cruise, research shows there is no difference"

"Disney a Magic Kind of Medicine No Doctor Can Prescribe"

LOL :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Yeah: "Disney Vacations: As addictive as Heroin without the option of methodone maintenance for recovery...CDC responds to a rising epidemic."

LOL

Seriously though Jason and I are pretty eclectic there's probably a bunch of things we'd like:

We really enjoy techie lectures....so something about animatronics, special effects, computer animation or CG effects would be interesting....

.....and I also love things about costuming and make-up.....so I'd love to see something about the costumes and make-up in some of their bigger budget films like the Pirates series or Narnia.....

...we like Disney Channel shows so something tied in with that would be fun (Like we're on board with the cast of "High School Musical" and "Phil of the Future" *hehehe*)....

...and we're also big star-chasers....so if any celebrity who was part of a Disney Production were aboard to talk about the films that would be awesome......think Disney does "Inside the Actor's Studio" with...Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp or Kiera Sedgwick (sp?) (Pirates)....or Tilda Swinton (Narnia)...or any of the famous voices they've used in their animation (except Mel Gibson....best to just have him stay in rehab and get himself together! *lol* :rotfl2: )

:tigger:

Those are great :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We're putting our thinking caps on!

E & J have a great trip, can't wait to hear all the fun stuff you do. If you haven't done it we love the drive in cars for lunch at MGM. Food's not that great, but its fun to do. I'd love to see a picture of the pooh play area.

Scott, for some reason I thought you were on the Carribean cruise.

....and I also love things about costuming and make-up.....so I'd love to see something about the costumes and make-up in some of their bigger budget films like the Pirates series or Narnia.....

I'd love this one too! If I wasn't doing what I'm doing I've always regretted not working for the creature make up departments.

We are outta here tomorrow, for the 11 night DCL southern, can't wait, only a few more hours here in the salt mine. My body is here but my mind is in FL.....
