I've been trying to keep track of our special events during this cruise. Will everyone check this list and fill in the blanks that I may have missed.

Wife and I will be celebrating our 15th, a bit late but we had to postpone it due to moving back to Nova Scotia last year. Our actual date is Nov 2nd so better late then never. Have some surprises for the wife planned so it should be good.

Cheers!!

Pat

Well, we paid $1,800 for a direct flight from Barcelona to Newark. I am going to check around on other airlines because of what other people have written. We are spending a couple days in NYC so I have a certain airport I need to fly into. USAir had a 12:10 flight into Philly which sounded good and that is what my dad and MIL is taking.

Try kayak.com. We got my mom a 1-way Aer Lingus flight from Barcelona to Chicago thru Dublin for 1/3 of what you are paying. Note that we found the flight thru Kayak and then it disappeared the next day but was still available when we booked directly w/ Aer Lingus, so Kayak is not infallible. However, it should still give you a good idea of who is flying routes you like so you can check directly with them too.

Also, if you are flying into NYC, any of the three airports are viable in terms of getting easily into the city, which is where I assume you would be going. That's Newark (EWR), Kennedy (JFK), or LaGuardia (LGA). If you need any help with getting from there to where you need to go, let me know, my dh is a frequent business traveler and lived in NYC for a few years and I am sure he can help you. But all of them have easy transportation to the city.

cupcake makes a good point, one day air fares will be one rate and the next a different then the next back again. Also, certain days of the week are better for buying airfare than others. Who is our TA on this thread? she may know the answer.

Goodmorning all and welcome Greg and his secret family... do give them time enough to prepare. The preparation is what is killing everyone with how much there is to plan.

Mothers day of course May 13th (but everyone knew that)

Armed Forces Day May 19th

On the B2B 11 day cruise

Memorial Day May 28th

Wife's 44th B-day May 29th ( I better remember that )

cupcake May 21 is our 16th

Also, May 19th is my birthday. Would you believe 29?! :rolleyes1 Hey, can't blame me for trying. I admit that it is a bit inconsistent with being married 16 years!
Thanks for keeping this list!

Welcome Greg and family! Glad to have you aboard!

Mike and I celebrate our 12th wedding aniversary on May 20th.

How accurate do we need this to be? A ten second count down sort of thing? Mid point between where? Port Canaveral and Cadiz? or Cast Away Cay and Tenerife? I think the latter makes most sense if you think of the actual crossing as the 6 1/2 day trip between the last western land fall and the first eastern one.

The ship might not follow a true great circle due to shipping lane and or weather issues so the only real way to do this would be to decide on start and end points and then calculate the GCR distance to each of those from your current position and when the distances become equal you are half way. As we get close we would need a laptop and a GPS receiver to pull this off.

Maybe as you said we should put the bug in Disney's ear (if you haven't already) to plan a mid point bash. (what if it is at 4 AM?)

I do have a Delorme GPS/usb receiver that is very small and with a bit of programming I think I could make it do a mid point count down.

Sounds like a good use for the Jumbo Tron. A mid point count down clock on a scroll at the bottom of the screen.

Let me know what we want to use as the starting and ending points and I will experiment...

I also like the CC and Tenerife as points for a Mid Point calc. The Jumbo Tron would be totally KEWL!!!!!!

If it is at 4:00 am we set alarms, and have a call down list,

Do let me know what ya come up with, I will have two GPS units with me a both Garmin, a Map76csx and a Vista CX. Now you have given me a great reason to get the new laptop, KEWL!!!Thanks

I would think they should sound the claxon when ever it is.

Yell if ya need the lat and long of either.

Flight over booked out of Richmond, worked it into two free tickets, KEWL!!! get home about 8 hours later. now to plan a trip????

Bummer is not Crown Room or Red Carpet Club.

At least there is internet connection.

rikimuk's husband Martin has a birthday on the 18th May

My DH and I will be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary on May 23rd. What a great way to celebrate!

Celebrating my BD 2 weeks later!! April 27th...40 something...the new 30 something...

I was going to have been celebrating retirement, my choice, 4 years to go....

Lot's to celebrate this trip. To quote Scott "KEWL." Our 11th anniversary (yes, if ayone is doing the math Marika was our "souvineer" from our WDW honeymoon--due date was exactly 9 moths from the wedding day!) was on March 16. We decided to celebrate it on May 16 so we can be on the ship:love:

I'll be belatedly celebrating my 58th birthday (May 9) sometime on the cruise.

What WONDERFUL outfits! I think we saw you at MNSCHP. I think it would be great if you wore them on the cruise! AT least one night!

Thank you; We had such a blast the first year that we did a repeat performance the next year - we are not doing it this year since we have so many other trips planned. We are going to miss the MNSSHP.

I don't think we are bringing them. The "canes" have to be hand carried and really gave Jet Blue an issue the first time we brought them home.

I just don't seem to have the time to make any costumes.

My hunny and I were so lucky - we found pirate costumes from Halloween on sale for 75% off some time in January...so we are all set for about 10.00 each!!! I think those are all the costumes we are bringing. Luggage space is limited and I would rather pack more clothing that can mix and match.

My boss was telling me yesterday that he was in Barcelona in Dec a few years back and it was 70 degrees. My sidebar weather monitor that I have set for Barcelona says it is 57 today and sunny.
