May 10 2014 Disney Fantasy Western Caribbean Cruise Meet

We are totally psyched about finally getting to Jamaica, even if only for one day. We haven't been to Grand Cayman either but not nearly as excited for that port.

And since it's my husband's birthday we have decided to upgrade to Concierge to celebrate! pixiedust:

Woo hoo!! That is too cool!! :yay:

We considered booking a concierge cabin for this cruise, but then decided to put that off until 2015 when we'll be celebrating a big anniversary that year.

Somehow I thought now that we are barely one year out from this cruise there would be more chatter. I guess I will go talk to myself. :rotfl2:

Guilty her of lack of chatter .... Will get busier when I'm back from my June cruise!

It was easier for us to make this splurge since we booked with our hurricane sandy DCL discount (25% off concierge was too good to bypass). We also aren't overly fond of Cozumel and are treating that as an extra ship day to enjoy the concierge pool deck and lounge.

I have always wanted to sail concierge ... just once. :thumbsup2

Hi everybody, this sounds like a fun group :)

It will be my mom and I sailing together. This will be our 5th cruise, all DCL. We've quickly fallen in love with cruising and don't even think about other lines, we love Disney too much. I just booked this cruise as a Mothers Day present for her. We did a cruise on the Fantasy last month and she's dubbed the Fantasy as her favorite. We have also done the Dream in 2012 and the Wonder this past January. We have our fourth cruise next January on the Wonder again. I'm not sure we'll get off the ship much but we'll see as I start planning and investigating the ports. We just really enjoy lounging in the sun and being on the ship.

Looking forward to chatting with everybody over the next 13 months :)

I'm very excited, I booked this cruise for my husband and I. Our only other cruise was the NY to Canada cruise in September 2012 on the Magic. It will be fun getting to know everyone before the cruise.

Hi all. My hubby & I have cruised with Princess & Celebrity & are avid WDW fans (premium AP, DVC, D23, TiW, MMC, etc...) pixiedust: Our 2.5 year-old will have been 4 times before his 3rd birthday this Sept. So, given all that, hubby said he needed a break from the parks. I don't exactly understand that :confused3 ("whatever") so my solution was...wait for it...the AllEars 2014 Disney Cruise!!! After a sigh, he smiled & said "go ahead and book it." There's a reason we've been married over 15 years! :lovestruc

Anyway, this is our 1st Disney Cruise and I'm excited to have a new Disney-verse to research and to put faces to so many other fans I've met online! But boy, is it overwhelming...FE's, rotational dining, cabanas, concierge...please forgive me if I'm a little slow to catch up :goodvibes

This trip will be me (30-something mom from Baltimore), Kevin (40-something hubby), Andrew (then just over 3.5 years) & Harry (my dad & pop-pop to Andrew) Pop-Pop was awesome enough to upgrade us to concierge - I love my daddy! :cool1:

Can't wait & please feel free to share any thoughts or advice, I need it!

welcome to all the new folks! pixiedust:

Sooner or later this thread will start moving ... right? ;)

You're going to love it! There is all the magic of the parks but much more relaxing :)

I work in Baltimore, it's a small world!

Congratulations! :cool1:

Well for those of you with questions ask away. Hubby and I were on the Fantasy in October during Hurricane Sandy and have also been on the Dream and the Magic.

I know there are other folks on this thread who are also repeat DCL customers.

Only 380 more days to go! :rotfl2:

that's too long!!!

Hi everyone :wave2:

:welcome: to all of the new cruisers!

380 days isn't too bad. One time we booked a Disney cruise 2 years in advance, so anything less than that will hopefully go by quickly. :hourglass

It seems that there will be a few VMKers on board. :cool1: Hello from CapeGirl and CapeCAD. :yay: LOL

Is anyone planning time at WDW either before or after this cruise? Depending on our final budget, we may plan a few days before the cruise. At the very least we'll fly down a day or two before the cruise and stay near the port.

Regarding Jamaica: Has anyone here climbed the Dunn's River Falls? I've been reading about that for years and it looks fun, but considering my current state of decreptitude, I'm not sure whether I'd make it or not. :lmao: I'm going to have to research more, and see how good of physical condition one would have to be, to be successful. I don't want to get stuck half way up. :scared: I'm on new medication for my RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and so far, so good, so I am optimistic for now. ::yes::

Terry,

we are going to stay at WDW for a couple of days before the cruise but I don't see us going to any parks (not a guarantee!). We just like to relax for a couple of days before getting on the ship.

have never been to Jamaica so looking for good suggestions from anyone here who has been.

Hi Terry -

Wes and I will fly in on Friday before the cruise. We have a standing tradition to go to California Grill the night before. After the cruise, we're planning on staying 10 days at WDW before we head back to CA!

We haven't thought too much about excursions yet, maybe just do a little siteseeing and a little shopping. But even if we stay on the ship - I'm happy doing that too!

We're getting close to that 1 year mark - CAN'T WAIT! Then the REAL PLANNING begins!

No 380 isn't that bad, I love having things to look forward to :)

We're planning on staying at WDW two days after the cruise, I'm hoping the Flower & Garden Festival will still be going on.

I haven't heard of those Falls, will have to look them up.

We have friends who've visited Dunn's River Falls and said it was a really cool experience ... lots of walking though. It can also get crowded from what they told us since it's a pretty popular excursion with folks staying at resorts on the island as well as with cruise passengers.

Not sure what we want to do yet .... hoping the DCL website will give us some suggestions soon. I've check cruise critic - this port is a relatively new stop so it doesn't seem to have as many options as some of the other ports of call in the Caribbean.

I went on a Carnival cruise in 1985 and climbed the Dunn's River Falls ... It was beautiful, and fun, but I was a lot younger then :) ... The only advice I can give is wear a one piece swimsuit ... the guides tend to walk behind the girls in bikinis and are alway's smiling :)

PS ... what are VMKers ???

Hi Everyone,

Just booked this cruise with 3 friends from another Disney Fan site.

I'm Pam from Indiana (no cubbie blue- we bleed crimson and cream here, and are still sad seeing Cody and Victor heading to the NBA) I'll be 58 when we cruise and am the mom of 4 (between 24yo -31yo right now.) I'm a runner and looking forward to the CC 5K.

I'd like to be in the FE but will check with the roomies before signing up officially.

This will be my 4th Disney Cruise (5th over all 1 Western Caribbean on the Freedom of the Seas which is why DH wasn't keen on doing the cruise and I'm traveling with the Disney friends.) I did a 4 night on Wonder a couple years ago and then the WB Panama Canal in Jan of 2011,Oct Hawaiian cruise in 2012. I loved the Hawaiian cruise- great weather and so relaxing.

We just booked yesterday so I'll encourage the roomies to come over and introduce themselves.
