today is picture day at the girls school....of course there was a big discussion this am....Samantha wanted to wear a costume and the background was fall...so I convinced her to wear a candy corn outfit and Haley had on a Halloween dress. Hopefully they will come out nicely. I did my best with Samantha's hair.

Well, he's thrown another hitch into the matter. Since the neuropsychologist is out of network with his insurance provider, we have to pay in full up front before the first appointment. We're talking about $1700 just for the diagnosis. So now he wants me to cancel that appointment and wait for him to find a place where we won't have to do that. Last night I was just too stressed out to think of what to do. MY thoughts are to borrow that money from my mom because neither of us has that amount just sitting in savings (and I'd have to fight to get her to let me pay her back, but that's another issue), tell Tyler's dad that I just feel strongly we should keep these appointments because we could have him evaluated and diagnosed in about 2 weeks due to a cancellation she had. Then we can take that diagnosis to somebody else within his insurance plan for treatment. I just don't think we should wait when we can get an immediate treatment. Am I being unreasonable? His dad's perspective is very logical and I'm not knocking it at all....he tells me he admits and realizes the issues and that Tyler does need to be seen right away, but that we do need to be smart about things financially because he doesn't want to see me suffer financially any more than necessary (he admits the major difference in our incomes). Very good point and smart, but is it unreasonable for me to borrow the money from my mom and take advantage of the appointments we can get immediately? Or since he's in the right mindframe now, should I just work with what he's thinking (because it has ultimately the same result)? Sorry....just a bit confused right now!

Speaking from the point of the grandmother, I would encourage you to ask your mother for the money. You are not being unreasonable and Tyler needs to be seem immediately.

I am feeling like such a slug. I need to get off my butt tonight and go for a jog. And keep it up daily!

probably because I have been quite stressed lately, I am turning to food....and my comfort foods are all bad for you and very fattening.

I know what you mean as Samantha and I are still organizing the house for the holidays. She goes to the gym at least 4 hours a day!! Ahh.....to be young and energetic again!!

With Samantha home, our diets are even stricter than usual as she pretty much stays on Weight Watchers year round. She provides good incentive for us to eat even healthier than usual.

I am a big fan of Weight Watchers and a lifetimer...although I am not at my lifetime weight right now. I need to start getting back on track though.
That and exercise and I should be fine, it's just a matter of doing it.

My comfort foods are all bad for you too. Cakes, biscuits, desserts, chocolate.......!!:cloud9:

V, That's so cool that you are lifetime, even if you are not at goal weight now. Weight watchers really does work. I cant wait until I make goal and get to lifetime. At least then I wont have to pay for my weekly meetings.

Noel, is your Samantha a lifetime weight watcher?

I will have to ask her.

My "comfort food" is chips and salsa or guacamole!!

I had chips and salsa for lunch! Yum!!

I am just so unmotivated. I get home and just sit. I really need to get moving. John has been hitting the gym after work most days and we have a gym right in the complex I work in so I need to go there on my lunch.

I just have to start doing it and quit talking about it.

John wants me to measure his arms...he thinks they are getting bigger!

Hey everyone- I wasn’t around yesterday, so this might be a long post!

Deb- It sounds like Angel will be in great hands while you’re gone!

Holly- Great news getting your ex to agree to Tyler’s evaluation! Oooh a massage sounds heavenly. Great idea getting the professional photos done!
As for the insurance situation, I’m leaning towards canceling the appointments and finding a provider in the network. I say that because $1700 is a lot of money and you may not be able to get that back. Insurance companies are notoriously bad for refusing to reimburse for treatments. You can always tell the in-network provider to contact you if there are ANY cancellations so you can get the soonest appointment available.

Lisa- that Mouseadventure thing sounds really fun. I’d love to do that one day.

PJ- I love the bag- that should make it easier to find you next Friday!

Angie- hugs for your brother. I can’t imagine what he must be going through right now.

John- Glad you had fun at the game!!!

V- What a disaster at work- I’m so sorry you had to deal with that drama!

Wow, it’s funny that so many of us grew up with our grandparents! My mom was just out of HS when she married my dad. She graduated in May, got married in October, and by December she was pregnant with me at 18 years old. Initially she tried to stay in college, which meant I spent all my days with my grandparents. My brother was born about 2 years after I was, and not long after that, school and family were too demanding for her to do all at once. However, we wound up moving from Queens to Long Island and got attached condominiums with my grandparents. So they’ve been a daily part of my life since before I could remember. My grandparents have always been like parents to me rather than grandparents. Last year I moved about 10 miles away (finally into our own house with DH and DD), but Olivia stays with my mom/grandparents while I work. My grandmother is one of Olivia’s favorite people in the world.
I’m pleased to say that my grandparents will both be coming on our Panama cruise. It was a bit of a challenge convincing Grandpa that he could handle the 5 hour plane ride from Los Angeles back to NY, but he LOVES DCL, so he’ll do it.

OK, that took WAY too long. I need to get back to work!

Me too...I am doing a lecture at our gym next week and keep thinking I really need to get in there and work out daily again. But, with the girls' schedules for soccer, piano and dance and our work schedules, it is just so hard. I would do it in the am....but I just love my bed too much :lmao:

mine too.....I could eat that every day and never grow tired of it!

Holly....I would say go with your gut instinct! My opinion would be to keep that appointment while you are looking for other options. I completely understand the insurance issue as many of my clients are not covered by an insurance that covers ND's...so I offer a large sliding scale. Hopefully the best of both worlds will happen and you will find a doctor on your plan who has an opening in the next few weeks!

Holly-you are right on and not being unreasonable. I would borrow the money if you can and keep the appointment...I think it's of the utmost importance. And perhaps you can also work a payment plan out with the neurologist...half now and the rest over a few months or something. I would think they'd work with you if you signed some type of agreement, especially since you work in the same building! Good luck!!!
