Well, somebody else will probably beat me to this, but WELCOME BACK!!!!

OK...let's see....Deb's out of the hospital and working on recovering. Lisa's (disneylover5) foreign exchange student Vanessa arrived. The same Lisa's 50th b-day is Tuesday. Karen & Ted's (been2marceline) 13th anniversary is Tuesday. Lots of football talk. Lots of kids back to school. Can't remember what else, but somebody else will! :thumbsup2

Holly,

You are so on top of things! :thumbsup2 There is just very little reason to keep up!!:cool1:

We'll just look to you for a recap!!:rolleyes1

Karen

so....who knew my husband was an ARTIST? I didn't, but he purchased some plain football magnets and dug around my art room for some paints and he was just over the moon making his own Gator magnets....sorry for the no shirt!
IMG_5770.jpg

I will show the finished product - he did GREAT~

V,

Very impressive artistry!! And don't be sorry for the no shirt!! You should see my DH with his (extremely white) shirtless physique, not quite as buffed!!:confused3

(But really, I'm not complaining...):rolleyes1

Karen

Good morning.
V!!!!:) Welcome back. I've missed you. You have some lovely pictures there - 2 adorable little girls.

My father was employed by NASA his entire life. Retired a few years ago with his astronaut wings. Neil Armstong and Buzz Aldrin have been friends of the family for as long as I have been alive. He can assure John that they did indeed land on the moon:thumbsup2

He laughed and said 'Well they would say that wouldn't they!'(with a twinkle in his eye I must add. We have lots of jokes about his conspiracy theories!)

Hello granmaz,
I just noticed you are from N Yorkshire. My Aunt lives in England, recently moved from Rotheram (sp)to Filey. My grandparents lived in Sheffield. I have been there 3 times over the years and hope to travel back in 09 or 10.
I am a huge Wimbledon fan.

Angie

Angie, we live in Harrogate, but used to live nearer Rotherham. We're just a couple of hours from Filey, but haven't been for years. It is a lovely little place.

I'm with you on the desserts - most nights on the cruise I skipped the salad and appetizers and had 2 desserts!
Mmm, 2 desserts!:cloud9:

Exactly Holly and you're so right Lisa...it was a wonderfully restful day today. My brother got delayed and home late, so I'll see him tomorrow. It gave me an opportunity to relax today and I'm feeling great for having it. Tomorrow, it's a new dawn!:hippie:

Great that you have had a restful day after the busy Friday.:thumbsup2
Marilyn, I've noticed you've been up quite late recently! :scared1: I guess the DIS bug bit you pretty hard! ;)

We returned from our meal and I just had to catch up on the Dis etc so yes you're correct!:rotfl:

Well, somebody else will probably beat me to this, but WELCOME BACK!!!!

You've got a good memory - I feel so old!

We had so much fun today! Tyler's dad and stepmom went out of town this morning for their anniversary. They were given tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil in Toronto tonight, so they dropped Tyler off at my house around 8:30am on their way out of town. I usually pick him up at 5pm from his dad's on Saturday, so we basically had a whole extra day together! :goodvibes First, he told me how good he was Thursday & Friday (his dad had already told me the same), and he was so proud of himself, and asked if he could please pick out his toy he earned back for each day. When I told him he could get 2 toys plus 2 stuffed animals, he looked just like it was Christmas morning! And since the 2 items he picked were tiny, I let him pick 2 toys for each day.

Well done Tyler!

We both played for a while with the stuff he picked, then did some grocery shopping and boring errands, then headed to Llamafest. He loved the llamas SO MUCH, he asked if we could go again tomorrow! Those animals are so friendly! Every one we walked by had to walk right up to us to check us out. Everybody we encountered walking their llama around was very nice about asking if Tyler would like to pet it. One guy even asked Tyler if he'd like a picture with a llama and took it out of its cage for me to get a pic! Too bad I still only have the cruddy camera on my phone to use, but it's better than nothing! :thumbsup2

Llamafest9-1-07.jpg

That same llama started leaning closer to my nose very slowly and when I started backing up, the owner told me, "Oh, she's just leaning over to give you a kiss! Stay still and she'll kiss you!" :rotfl2: Too fun! We spent so much time there and both really enjoyed ourselves. I just had to buy Tyler a stuffed animal llama because that's something he definitely didn't have already! I need to take more money with me tomorrow because there were so many inexpensive things for sale made from llama wool. I really want some mittens....they were so soft! And maybe a sweater too.

What a great fun day and just look at Tyler with the llama!:)

I definitely have to get some sleep. I was so tired today that I thought I'd fall asleep driving home from Walmart this morning around 11am. I sat on the couch while Tyler had lunch and immediately started drifting off to sleep. It was so difficult staying awake! I suppose it's my body's way of telling me to get more sleep, so off I go! :thumbsup2

I think we'll plan a busy day tomorrow and try to have as much fun as possible before his dad picks him up tomorrow evening (if he does). His dad has him for Labor Day this year and wants to just pick him up the night before. But he doesn't know when he'll be back in town, so he'll call if he gets back early enough. As has happened in the past, he'll probably call around 7pm and say they just got back and are too tired from driving so many hours and will just pick Tyler up in the morning. Makes it hard to know what to tell Tyler, but we'll make the most of our day together since I'll be losing the following day with him.

We're definitely going back to see the llamas again, but haven't decided what else we'll do. Maybe his favorite museum. Or a picnic in a park he doesn't get to often. Or all of the above! :cool1: I'll let him decide.

Goodnight!

You organise such brilliant days.

I wish Marilyn were awake....there are some cute porcupines on the snowman cam she mentioned a couple days ago. :goodvibes

Will go and check the archives. Can't wait for the snow, but I bet you aren't thinking that.

Frustrating and depressing day.

Have a case that I have been working with for a little while. Thought we were making great strides. Obviously can't go into details, but had a major setback today. It makes me so sad . . . . . . . . maybe I get too emotionally involved.

Also found out this afternoon that I have to fly to San Antonio on Tuesday to testify. Forensic Psychology is the fun part of my profession. The above is the worst part.
I'm very sorry to hear that you had a bad day and then found out that you won't be testifying... I kinda thought the same thing for a moment as Holly - that you lost your job... but then I thought NO maybe not - this was a "case"... hoping you are still employed -

BTW - we carry the Banfi in our wine shop and I am shipping some to the ship for the cruise along with other Champagnes and Sparkling wines for our Champagne party in our suite!! :drinking1

Karen
ALRIGHTY - PARTY!!!!
Just had a lovely meal out at a local French restaurant, with a couple of our friends. We had a lovely evening. The place reminded me of Le Chefs, with big windows, though the view wasn't anywhere near as nice!

I had Tuna and the rest had lamb. John and I had desserts(:lmao: ), creme brullee for me(oh yes!) and sticky toffee pudding for John. Our friends had starters. I can miss starters completely but have to have a pud!!
Marilyn - that sounds so lovely!
I did sleep better last night, thank you. We all did spa days today including manicures, pedicure, massages and facials. Lovely, lovely day!!
Noel
Sounds like another lovely experience and a great day (a gal after my own heart!)

Woody - DO have a wonderful time at the Marathon, and please shoot me an email about your day yesterday - I am so bad I meant to send an email off to you...

Miss V- WELCOME BACK - and thanks for the photos - looks like you had a really great time - those two little faces sure show it!

I remember my DH coming to paint pottery one time, I was shocked he wanted to come - my niece was here visiting and he AND his brother wanted to join us gals... they were VERY good. I just love BEING amazed at people (in the GOOD way!)

Just to keep you updated I had a girls night out Friday night - (picture will be posted once I get it downloaded) WOW - we had a bit TOO much fun. My knees are acting up (too much dancing) even though they are getting stronger I tend to over do it when the music is playinjg. Live band and all - I'm sure you can relate. Which reminds me... does anyone know if ENTWINE is still on the Magic???? And will they be the "live" entertainment for our cruise? (please say no...please say no...:rolleyes1

Well, if we were to do a pot luck and bring a dish or two of our favorite ethnic foods from childhood....consensus would have it that we would end up somewhere in the middle of a hog farm in Kansas....?????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

 :rotfl: :rotfl2: I wonder how those farmers would react when we all drive up, set up tables in the yard, unload our pot luck contributions and have a party.:rotfl: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2  :cool1:

There were a couple people who said :confused3 so I will share what seemed to make it make the most sense to me. Sorry if this has been said before.

If you made a cut out of the USA of stiff enough cardboard to stay flat, what is the point you could balance it on a pin--TA DA Lebanon Kansas. If you add ALASKA you have to figure out what to do since Alaska does not touch Washingon so do you use some of Canada or what...but anyway, that comes out near Castle Rock, South Dakota, and if you add Hawaii--again what do do about the fact that the islands don't touch so how can you cut them from the same cardboard--it is still close to Castle Rock--which I think is amazing.

Bottom line: unless someone on this thread owns that Hog Farm near Lebanon, everyone will have to travel to somewhere so pick a place where someone wants to hostess, either at their home, club or hotel, and set a Meet.

I have not been on the DIS in a couple days. Lots to catch up on with the 5 threads I am subscribed to.

On Friday I got boxes from our storage that contained old taxes, my old home care patient records, etc. loaded them into the van, and unloaded them into the condo. Saturday we sorted, shredded, and repacked items. We threw away BAGS and BAGS of shredded paper. We recycled three huge boxes of papers, we have a few more boxes to go and more shredding to do.

All this because the place we store our motorhome and boxes is raising the rent substantially. This has made us MOTIVATED to thin out--divest ourselves of the unnecessary and find new storage for the important things --and to rethink ownership of the Rialta (21 foot 2 person motorhome made by Winnebago on a VW Eurovan Chasie in 1999) which we only used once last year. For what we are paying on it and storage, we could upgrade on our cruises!! And when you book at a category 11 or 10, there are a lot of options for upgrading.

Anyone want to buy a Rialta, one owner, well loved, already interior decoraged with some Disney items? :earsgirl::earsboy:

Jan :earsgirl:

Does anyone know the tag fairy? I wanta get tagged!:rolleyes1 :sad2:

You can go into your own User CP and add some text below your avatar. I did. So you can "sort of" tag yourself. I don't think you can make it colored font though, only the Tag Fairy can do that. But I am OK with mine in black. I typed it right after the category of DIS member that I am now.

I LOVE the ants....I had forgotten about this one....ok here's another....

Welcome home V, loved the pictures! Which was your favorite meal this trip? Coming from the SW, I've never considered Coronado Springs, as the theme is just too much like here, but I know lots of folks love it.

Thank you for the kind thoughts. Unfortunately, the news last night wasn't what I was hoping for. My services are no longer needed. First time this has ever happened. I am at a loss emotionally. Extremely sad, but also extremely angry.

Oh, I know how you feel, the one thing that really hits me the hardest is having someone discount my work/experience/expertise.

So last night and today DH made a cruise budget spread sheet that is AWESOME. He asked me to share it with you all it is very easy to use.

However I can not figure out how to post it? Can anyone help?

You may have to actually e-mail it to interested parties, I think. Unless there is someway it can be posted on our Ship of Thieves site....I'm sure one of our computer experts will chime in with a solution.

I see my sister was up at the crack of dawn this morning! Too much napping yesterday, Peg? :lmao: I certainly did my share....didn't leave the house till 7PM for a bite of dinner. I REALLY need to get to the grocery store and stock up....won't have a choice soon, nearly out of CAT FOOD and that is sooooo not allowed.

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Jan, we (NW Indiana) also did John Jacob, but I'm pretty sure we used Smith as the last name. That's one of the things that makes oral stories and songs so interesting....how they change in the course of time or over distances.

Does anybody remember the jump rope song that started:

Fudge, fudge, call the Judge
Momma had a new-born baby
Wrap it up in tissue paper
Send it up the elevator....... ??????

That is so cool. Those men were my heroes when I was a boy growing up. I cannot even imagine having them as friends of the family. To me they were some of the bravest men ever! (not that current astronauts are not - but it was such a new frontier at that time).

They are both really nice. Hadn't seen them in years, but they came to my dad's wing ceremony - which they didn't have to do. Meant alot to my dad.

Chuck Yeager is a different story.

Running out of Cat food is not a mistake you want to make. I'm pretty sure ours would revolt!!!

It wasn't pretty but we won! 1 down 11 to go. Can't believe Michigan lost but sure was glad.

Sorry, have to be careful with what I can say.

May be a little confusing. My day to day profession is self employed as a Clinical Psychologist. I do have a contract with the USAF but it is a rolling contract that I can renew or terminate. I also teach a couple of classes at a local college, but that is more for fun. Yes, I have a part of my brain that loves to be worked at all times. Frustrating for my husband who is the complete opposite:love:

I specialize in Forensic Psychology and I wrote my dissertation in this field. Still have to testify this week. Leave for San Antonio on Tuesday night. Trying to convince Shawn to fly in for a day/night to join me. We haven't had a night without kids - by ourselves - since Jenna was born (almost 8 years).

I have spent the past 2 days locating and sorting thru 40 years of photos. Being married to a photo buff there are LOTS of photos. Our DD wants photos of the two of us for the "surprise" anniversary party she is having Sept 29. It has been a fun task to look at all those memories and decide which ones I want to share (and keep the number reasonable - I could fill a room) that really shows who we are and what we have enjoyed doing as a couple over the years. I found 2 photos of DrHug with the Southern Cal song girls at tailgate parties. He was beaming! :lmao: :sad2:  :lmao: There was also, of course, one of me with the cheerleader boys! ;) Fun times. Lots of family/friends picnics that we used to organize when we lived in California with sack races, vollyball, baseball, egg tosses... Thanksgiving is always at our house and is THE big holiday for our families so lots of good photos and memories there also. The first car we bought together - 1967 Barracuda! :thumbsup2 Then because DrHug has been using digital for the past few years, I had him print DCL photos for an album we got when we booked the Romantic Escape at Sea. I'll fill that with DCL photos and just let them set it out for folks to browse thru.

So the two days flew by. Here it is Sunday and I have my usual weekend chores still to do. :sad2: DBIL is also coming to visit for a bit around noon, so I better get crackin' so he will have a place to sit down! :scared:

Godoux, so sorry about your client. Been there.

Chuck Yeager is a different story.

You know, I always kind of suspected that.

I met Buz Aldrin at a luncheon once, he was delightful! (I was going to say I had lunch with Buz Aldrin once, but since there were about 500 of us, it may have been a tad misleading.)

speaking of lunch....time to haul myself off to the grocery store....
