 :scared: :faint: YIKES! Well, if the house is 10 X more out there, I'd hope my salary would be 10 X more as well, so it would even out. My $20K would make me homeless out there! :rotfl2: So I'm happy sticking with our cold and snow! :thumbsup2 It's just really interesting to see how incomes and cost of living vary in different states. I love everybody's comparisons!

Your job I would think would be around $45K-90K+ here (depending on background, job, etc). They was an article recently about 1st year out lawyers now making $160K - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/05/05/BUGU0PLI6O1.DTL
The housing is sometimes 10K more than other areas of the country while salaries are higher but not quite that much of a difference. That is why people often have "less" of a house in CA then they would in other areas. But again, for me I'll keep paying 50% of our income to our house in order to stay living here.

Hi Granmaz

Hi, I thought I would tell you in case you miss the post about Eddie Bauer, I have purchased their petite size pants and they fit well. I too, am only 5'. I have also had some luck with Ann Taylor petites -

Jeans - actually I buy mine at Walmart... yep they have a flare that suitable for short peeps, and no hemming involved!

Kohls' has also been good - but doubt you have one of those there. YOu can order E Bauer off the internet...

Ughhhh . . . we had dance recital rehearsal tonight. This has to be something an evil genius thought up to make people think there was no hope left in the world.

First off, it started an hour late due to the thunderstorm warnings. Then, there are so many numbers that every year, there are two shows - each is about three hours.:scared1: Sophia is act #19 in the SECOND half of the first show, and Act #4 in the SECOND half of the second show. Could we be any luckier?

Of course, you can photograph or video at rehearsal, but NOT at the actual show. OY!

Amy was there from 4:00 to 10:00 - I showed up around 6:00. We had to have McD's for dinner. Amy got Sophia all jazzed up for her number, and I told her I would be in the front row when she came in so we could get video and pictures . . .

Well, Amy thinks I am quite talented, because she stood in the back to watch the first act, and left me with the Video AND the still camera. Now, I am pretty good, but trying to shoot out of each eye is a bit hard. When she did not come up, I looked like this  .

I balanced the video camera on my knee, with a wide shot of the whole stage, and shot with the still camera. Can't wait to see that video - probably about as still a shot as the Blair Witch project!

LOL John!! Ours didn't end until 10:45, and (you'll love this) it was only the BALLET portion of the show. Four straight hours of classical music!!

The rest of the performances are today and tomorrow.

Oh, and I saw you mentioned Guitar Center. We have a few of them here in NY. My dad LOVES that store. He's always in there looking at band equipment for his non-existant rock band.

OK, I actually have to work today, so I'm off to a client's house. Then I have to brave the mall to get a bridal shower gift for my friend. WISH ME LUCK!!

:lmao: :lmao: Maybe he should get together with DrHug and they could combine their non-existant rock bands. :lmao:

The really fun thing about Guitar Center is that they encourage everyone to try out the instruments. DGS was around 7 or 8 and was there with us. He started banging on a drum set and I immediately stopped him. An employ came up to me and said it was not only ok but encouraged in their store. DGS had a great time!

Boy, you all make it sound that living in so cal is a prison sentence. I personlly love living here. I'm only 10min away from the ocean. I dont know about temps inland, but here on the coast we don't have many days over 100+ or even close to. Yes we do pay a premium to live here and no I dont make $100,000 and still am able to afford a nice 3 bed home in a gated community and still put food on my table and drive a newer car. Come on, it's really a great place to live. Oh and property taxes are deductable on your fed taxes.:thumbsup2

I'm catching up - all but couldn't resist making one note on this whole FL vs CA thing... Farmers Alminac lists Santa Barbara as the #1 moderate temp in the world. Next to Hawaii. Mid 70's throughout the year. Not to mention one of the MOST beautiful places... (We'll be there in July for a week!).

If it were me in the position to pick between the two NO comparison at all. Flat/alligators/humid (beyond humid) bugs the size of small dogs (ok, WDW does help) - CA mountains and beaches (you can't beat that) DL - CA Advenuture - Knotsberry Farm, wine country, movie country, Tahoe, ...

Good morning everyone, I'm finally caught up and didn't realize I was gone that long! A couple of days maybe???

Cheri - Did you do a trip report to Hawaii? I'd love to hear all about it - also you will be leaving for DL again soon - so you'll have even more to report and show pictures of. Sounds like when you get back we should try and hook up? I know ibouncetoo would love that.

Thanks all for your reports on the movies you've seen - I got a call from my little pal Victoria (14) and shed like some "Pegala time". So Sunday her and I are going to shop and movies... we are thinking Gracie - because I don't think Mr Brooks will be appropriate - nor Knocked up...

Has anyone see Gracie yet?

Went to a Happy Hour last night and I just LOVE the Yard House - they have the best crab cakes... also had Sea Bass it was delicious.

I did my Beef Pouirve the other night and it was a hit! DH really loved the sauce, I'm going to make Salmon with Pesto (Ina Garten's recipe) so we'll see...

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Does BOBBY have a vacation schedule yet????? Or is everyone just "talking" about taking him with them and getting photos?

I am really having fun with this since I just learned about "Flat Stanley" not too long ago! What a light way to increase fun and entertainment!:yay:

After all of the great pictures of your house and the land around it, the "closeness" of your neighbors in California will be quite a shock!
House prices in California can also be a shock.

On our walk to the beach this morning, we saw this house for sale. 918 Emerald St Asking price is $1,260,000.

Haven't done a trip report yet; I've just gotten my pictures a little organized on my laptop. I've got to get some things straightened up in my computer room before my cousin comes, since it's also the guest room. Plus I dug into my garage for several hours yesterday--it's so cool right now it seemed like a good time to attack that! Plus I've been sidetracked by going through my photo albums and memorabilia boxes looking for things for my 40 year class reunion. Yadda, yadda, yadda...

Yes, getting together sounds good but this is the time of year when you guys should head NORTH instead of me heading SOUTH doncha think?

Haven't seen Gracie but I'd like to. Definitely don't take her to Knocked Up! :scared1: Nor Mr. Brooks.

John, I feel your pain triple fold....ours is tomorrow!:scared1: We have 3 shows, and for the first year, all of our dances are in the same show!!!!!!!! No sitting through 2 nights this year. I will be at the hall from 2-??? supposedly 5, but probably more like 6. Jaide is performing 2x, Taylor 1x and me 1x. I usually have Jaide record my dance and it is a great video of our feet:lmao: I actually have gotten quite talented at the 1 hand video and 1 hand still picture mode (since there is no way I could convince Scott to come see rehearsal and then recital. One night of sitting through all those dances is enough for him). People are usually pretty impressed when they see me doing that.

By the way, Scott is :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: reading those rules you posted.
Those were some great ones!

When is the actual recital? Ours isn't until 21st. We have ours on T,W,Th evenings instead of the weekends which is kind of nice.

Holly and Liserann....have great vacations! (although I am sure you already left and won't read this!)

Our recital is today . . . both shows. 3-6, and 7:30 - ? Oh, the pain . . . with Sophia in both shows, we are in for a marathon.

I forgot to tell you guys that Bobby has lots of relatives. Just like some other ethnic groups, some people say it is hard to tell Bobby from the other bananas, at least until you get to know him.

I picked up a few of his "body doubles" before I left the office tonight. We may get him around the country sooner than I thought!

Sounds a little racist! What the hecks up with that! Not very cool if you ask me!:sad2:

I know . . . Bobby is very sensitive to it too . . .

Here's Bobby and his family . . . Can you tell which one is him?

Break between shows, time to let the dog out and check up on the DIS . . .
