I actually just e-mailed them instead. There isn't a store here in our city, but there's one in the city where we'll be attending a family birthday party next Saturday.

To all of my new California friends . . .

I just received some interest in my resume from a business in Westlake Village CA. The description seems to fit my qualifications extremely well – but CA is a long way from Ohio . . . Any thoughts on the area or the business “Guitar Center”?

I bought my Strat from Guitar Center back in the 1980s. If it is the same one, they have been around for a long time. Of course I am a big fan of CA. I haven't caught up yet but saw some posts on taxes and such. Our real estate taxes are awful! I'll catch up and then post more about that!

Ok, all caught up. Holly, I saw photos of your house in your posts and your house in Santa Clara would probably cost $650K. We just sold our rental, 1000 sq ft 3 bed 2 bath, 6000 sq ft lot for a little more than that. It is crazy but salaries are a lot higher here. I don't think we'd ever move to another state because I don't think we'd ever be able to afford to move back. We love the weather and the people. It does take a special breed of people who will work extra or commute far just to live here. On top of that, we got earthquakes every now and then. I love it though. I'd try to get them to fly you out for an interview and check it out. Nothing to lose! Lisa

TGIF everyone!! Sorry I haven't been checking in much, but things are crazy around here. I'm in very bad need of a vacation, but it looks like this cruise will be the next vacation we're going to take!

I'm off tonight to one of my sisters' dance recitals. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks for filling me in on Bobby Banana! I love stuff like that! Is Bobby really going to travel around the country? If so, he has an open invitation to visit me--I'm sure I could show him a good time and get some good pix to add to his scrapbook, then send him on his way to the next lucky host/hostess!

Okay, at the beach.....with 8 teenage boys......they are off in Rehoboth Beach.....shoppoing or chasing girls or something....

Anyway I went to the little local grocery....."G & E" Grocery. I went into the fresh veggie and fruit section the ceiling was covered with Bobbies hanging everywhere!! I wish I had my camera.....John, I laughed and laughed!!

Westlake Village is a nice area. Guitar Center is a very popular retail store chain.
I bought my guitar there.

.....the more I read about CA....Delaware is looking better and better....10 mins. from the beach, all four seasons in moderation....not -20 in winter and not 100+ in summer, no state tax, no sales tax, only $60k for 5 acres and we're building our own house.

Hmmm going to have to look into that...


Laura, you might want to consider looking at Sussex County, DE, it's part of the DELMARVA (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) penninsula close to the Maryland border. Lots of nice beach towns in the area. If you go 10-20 mins. inland off the coast, the prices are more reasonable. It's lots of farmland and woods right now, but they are building it up. Lots of outlet shopping in the Rohoboth Beach area...growing everyday. Within the next few years would be the right time to buy before the property values rise.

Our land appraised for $90k and we only paid $60k. It's 10-15 mins. inland off of Bethany Beach. The locals call it "lower slower Delaware". But it's conveniently located to Ocean City, MD. The major surrounding cities are DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Wilmington. Virginia Beach and Norfolk are also not far. It's also easy to get to FL from there so you can visit the Mouse often.

If you find that you want to look into it more seriously after you have done some research, PM me and I will put you in contact with a great real estate agent who has now become a good friend.

I grew up on the East End of Long Island and really miss the beach towns. Since moving to PA I have tried the NJ coast and don't like it. I tried the Delaware coast and feel right at home.

Lisa/disneylover5 has a beach home in Bethany Beach, DE and she also loves it. We're building in 4 years and moving there in 5 years. Lisa and I would love to have you as our neighbor.

Ughhhh . . . we had dance recital rehearsal tonight. This has to be something an evil genius thought up to make people think there was no hope left in the world.

First off, it started an hour late due to the thunderstorm warnings. Then, there are so many numbers that every year, there are two shows - each is about three hours. Sophia is act #19 in the SECOND half of the first show, and Act #4 in the SECOND half of the second show. Could we be any luckier?

Of course, you can photograph or video at rehearsal, but NOT at the actual show. OY!

Amy was there from 4:00 to 10:00 - I showed up around 6:00. We had to have McD's for dinner. Amy got Sophia all jazzed up for her number, and I told her I would be in the front row when she came in so we could get video and pictures . . .

Well, Amy thinks I am quite talented, because she stood in the back to watch the first act, and left me with the Video AND the still camera. Now, I am pretty good, but trying to shoot out of each eye is a bit hard. When she did not come up, I looked like this .

I balanced the video camera on my knee, with a wide shot of the whole stage, and shot with the still camera. Can't wait to see that video - probably about as still a shot as the Blair Witch project!

I forgot to tell you guys that Bobby has lots of relatives. Just like some other ethnic groups, some people say it is hard to tell Bobby from the other bananas, at least until you get to know him.

I picked up a few of his "body doubles" before I left the office tonight. We may get him around the country sooner than I thought!
