YIKES! Well, if the house is 10 X more out there, I'd hope my salary would be 10 X more as well, so it would even out. My $20K would make me homeless out there!
So I'm happy sticking with our cold and snow!
It's just really interesting to see how incomes and cost of living vary in different states. I love everybody's comparisons!
Your job I would think would be around $45K-90K+ here (depending on background, job, etc). They was an article recently about 1st year out lawyers now making $160K - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/05/05/BUGU0PLI6O1.DTL
The housing is sometimes 10K more than other areas of the country while salaries are higher but not quite that much of a difference. That is why people often have "less" of a house in CA then they would in other areas. But again, for me I'll keep paying 50% of our income to our house in order to stay living here.
