. . . I'll be enjoying a day on the sea on 5/21 and in Cadiz Spain on 5/22.
We spent four days in Cadiz. You'll love it. It can get very hot in May, and many shops close midday for a couple of hours.

Going to be fun seeing them around the ship and popping goodies in the pockets.

For those of you who are craft challenged, don't forget that you can use fabric glue (pretty much the same consistancy of elmers) and then can glue on little doo dads to decorate it. You could also cut out little fabric pictures (like of mickey or tinker bell) or glue on patches, etc...

I will try to do that later tonight, but may not get to it until the weekend. I have a school board meeting tonight, and all the info is on my laptop at home.

We should think about this . . . I think some people on our last cruise felt "pressured" to make sure that they did something nice for everyone. With 97 cabins, this may be hard for everyone . . . and, you can ship the stuff to the port, but then you have to haul it all home . . .

I am going to make a suggestion . . . how about if we come up with 15 things - one for each night of the trip? The leis could be one, the lanyards another. Make them nice things that those who are interested could contribute to instead of 97 other things. Whoever wants to volunteer and come up with the ideas can be responsible for getting the stuff and distribution. We could all end up with some nice things to remind us of the cruise. No one would go broke or crazy trying to come up with 97 different ideas that were cost effective. (one idea that I liked from our last cruise was a deck of cards with our cruise date and info on it - another one could be a custom Christmas ornament). Things that someone may not be able to buy individually for everyone, but they could afford to contribute so that they could have a keepsake.

This would also keep the kids (and the kid in all of us) happy for each night's "surprise". We have 15 months to come up with creative ideas, and this is a very talented group. The "fish extenders" is what gave me the idea for this approach.

In addition to that, everyone could bring a card or something like that for each cabin that they could distribute, maybe with a picture of their family and name, with email addresses, etc. so that those who want to keep in touch can, and it could also be something for a scrapbook.

This is just a suggestion. I know we went nuts trying to figure out what to bring, and I felt bad for those who thought they "had" to bring something to exchange.

Any thoughts?

Great Idea!!

Would love to meet up at DL for a mini-meet. Just have a problem with the date though. I'll be enjoying a day on the sea on 5/21 and in Cadiz Spain on 5/22. I'll think of you all while on the Magic on the way to Barcelona!

:goodvibes

Looks like I may be joining you for a EB Med Repo Dis meet!!! Will know for sure tomorrow!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks John, I was just thinking about this today that it would cost a lot to get something unique and not junky for everyone. I hadn't even thought about getting everything back home. I like the idea of 15 (or even less) nice things that we all contribute to the cost of. What could they be? Off the top of my head I can think of visors, water bottles, coffee mugs (although they would be very heavy, so probably not practical), bandanas, fanny packs. The playing cards sound very cool!

Am I on the right track? Please elaborate on how they'd be paid for. Would one of us would be responsible for locating a source for a certain item, reporting to the group the cost and then those who want an item pay for it? Or would 2-4 of us go together on the cost for 95 of a certain item and then give them to everybody (as our gift)?

Good suggestions for the items. All I could think of was pencils and that was because I saw pirate ones at Oriental Trading.

Ok, DOD, Chocolate and finally making a decision has helped eliminate some of the stress and I am back on track!!!:thumbsup2

Roll Call - All of the updates I have recieved have been posted and updated!! I continue to marvel at all the good looking folks who want to join this group of thieving pirates!!! No wonder the EB group is concerned about the size of their mousy bits!!!!

Updates - Mishoe01 has had her name fixed in the PM updates!! <my bad>

Also, with the discussions of people doing gifts for the group, if you are volunteering to coordinate getting something, please PM me with the item and if you are looking for financial aide to pay for it, or if people will need to pay for items themselves.
Example 1
Jane Smith is going to order neon pink boas for everyone, and is looking for 4 or 5 people to split the cost with her. It would be $25 per person.
Example 2
John Smith is going to order custom lanyards that will cost $7 per person. If you want to order one you need to prepay John for the lanyard.

I will then post this information on page one. If we do it this way, I hope we will avoid having any confusion on what will be group gifts and what is a group purchase. Avoiding hurt feelings is what I am aiming for here!

Also, we have couple of different off Disboards websites going. Please remember that not all information is on both websites, and it is not practical for each website to mirror the content of the other. So if you don't find something on one, it may be on the other, or drop a PM or request on the boards.

Round Ups -

Appantly the ship of thieves is not quite as malnurished in days of old...:rotfl2: There is some talk about co-ordinating a check in to help motivate us to lose weight to look our svelte best when we walk that plank. Keep an unpatched eye out for an update to page 1 with more info!!pirate:

Dang, Disboards folks just rock. Kind, loving, supportive, and all those good things in life. Boy Scouts ain't got nothing on us!!! :grouphug:

Looks like there is a possible Dis meet May 21 or 22 at Downtown Disney!! Looks like some of us will be having one in Cadiz Spain on the other repo cruise!!! Isn't it exciting to have faces to go with the names and comments that go on? Pictures people!!! We will need pictures!!! Embarassing pictures preferred, but we will settle for group shots with your bedazzled spanxx for all the board to see!!! :scared1:

Looks like lots of family members are on the mend!! :yay:  We are glad that all of you are getting back to your nomal mental illnesses, instead of those nasty physical ones!!!:cheer2:

Think that will do it for tonight!!!

Or make them all edible:rolleyes1 and we won't have to worry about packing them and bringing them home. :rotfl2:

http://www.orientaltrading.com/appl...hallpartial&N=377441&sd=FROSTED+PIRATE+SUCKER

And after all the weight we would have all lost by then, we could eat it all!!!

I like the idea of being able to get some little goodies for everyone, but not having people feel pressured to do so. Also, John's points are good ones - especially the whole packing issue. There might not be as much surprise if we all talk about what to get though on the boards! Maybe there is a way to divide this up and then keep it a secret - maybe anyone that wants to do it can send a PM to someone that will then divide people up into 15 teams? And as more people join us, they can join a team - so we have Team 1 (first day), Team 2, (second day), and so on. And maybe one leader for each team. And the indivudals in each team can PM each other so it can remain a secret what you will get!

Any other ideas? It will feel like :santa: :santa: in May! Lisa

I really like this idea! I know we are on a budget as are others so this would help, even with just a little. It will get pricy to buy for over 90 groups of peolpe.

No, today was not any better. I was stuck on the freeway going to a meeting for an hour because they shut the freeway down. That was how my day started at 630am.
My Alaska cruise is officially caput! I canceled it today. It just was becoming too worrisome and no long fun. Not to mention it kept cost us more and more and more money. So the girls are good with canceling because we will do something else with them this summer. And my friend and I know we made the right decision because canceling it did not leave us crying and depressed, it has left us releaved.

So now, it appears that Jeannine and I really will be going on the East Bound Med Repo cruise without our teens!! We are waiting for final pricing info but it looks like we will be on our way!!! So I guess God really doesn't close a door without opening a window!!:rotfl:

Someone wrote about how great the Disboards are to everyone. I was also the recipient of their love and concern. Two months after I booked the first East Bound repo cruise, I found out I had breast cancer. And I had a really agressive form. I was 41 and it had already spread to my lymph nodes. So 15 months before I am to leave on my dream cruise I go totally hit for a loop. My friend Susan (Ivanova) kept the boards informed of my progress. I ended up getting so sick from the chemo that I moved in with my parents. Needless to say, I was too sick to get on the boards (and you all know, that is really sick!!!) I was feeling really down, I was bald, I wanted to die because I was so sick, and I just didn't feel like I could keep going with the treatment. That weekend Susan came by and she had a box for me. Inside the box was cards and wishes and hats and scarves and doo-rags for my bald head. I had everything from Mickey mouse patterns to parrots. I cried and cried and cried. It was just what I needed. I started wearing the head ornaments and we took pictures and emailed them in. Needless to say, that care package gave me the motivation to stay with the program and make it through all my treatments and I still made it on the cruise. My hair was not very long, and I looked pretty butch, but I was on my cruise! So yeah, we do get to know each other really well, and we are there through the good times and bad. I still get teary eyed thinking about it. Disboards seem to attract the cream of the crop when it comes to outstanding human beings!!

Laura

Wow, that is quite a story. Restores your faith in Human Beings! No wonder you put friend of ivanova on your signature! I hope you stay cancer free the rest of your life.

Whew . . .

Got home from my school board meeting at 10:30!

Or would 2-4 of us go together on the cost for 95 of a certain item and then give them to everybody (as our gift)?

What I was thinking at first was one person being responsible for an item, and then whoever wants to be a part of this contributes to each individual responsible for an item. I was thinking something like setting a $5 limit.

I know this is not what you are looking for.....but this was so weird. After we had this discussion, something very strange happened.

We are going on the MED in July. Several have posted DIS that the MED packages are in the mail, but we have not gotten ours. I have gone to the mailbox everyday, hoping I would find mine. On Staurday, there was a great big package from Disney....MY MED PACKAGE....I was so excited I could not breathe. Ran inside and tore open the package. NO MED PACKAGE....the Disney Annual Report......I was so disappointed.

But in there was also an add for the Chase Disney Visa.....Do you guys all have one?? If not, you should get one. The add gives a Free Mickey watch....I will post in the next post after this one the add....2 pages.... the CODE if anyone wants to do this is 645R27. It has a very good description of the watch and I hop you can read it....but if not I will post the description.

So do you have that one share of Disney stock too like me, or are you a REAL shareholder. LOL I got this too, and I like that watch too, but we BOTH already have the Visa cards. Got $75 off my DVC dues when I got mine.

And after all the weight we would have all lost by then, we could eat it all!!!

I really like this idea, because what I did NOT like about my idea was the loss of the element of surprise in the thing. Perhaps we could do teams, or maybe some individual has a really great idea, and you send them $5? I'm sure someone can come up with the perfect solution.

I'm too tired to think tonight.

I will get you guys my spreadsheet for the weight loss somehow tomorrow.

I guess the multiquote will be a handy tool:

If no one else has claimed this....I would be willing to spearhead the campaign for those plastic glow-in-the-dark bracelets (like the Lance Armstrong ones). The DIS group from my last cruise had them, and it was great in identifying people.

What I would need is name and how many bracelets you'd want.

We would love to get 3, one of each size!

Yep, that would be me. As it gets closer I will post the information that I need for it, but if everyone keeps the stuff up to date, I can generally pull most of the info on the rosters and event listings.

Since I've done it a number of times, it is pretty easy since I have it all formatted now!

That´s great, I can´t wait to get my hands on all this literature!

Ok - I'm back from a 2 day hiatus from the DIS (not by my choice, really).

As it turns out - we almost lost my sister after she gave birth to Sydney - it was really touch and go for a bit. Lisa is FINALLY out of ICU and into a regular Maternity ward room. I was able to take my nephew Ian to meet his new baby sister yesterday, and got to meet her myself. She is precious!

My sister is still in a lot of pain, but appears out of the woods (THANK GOD!!). Thanks to those of you who sent prayers, PD, hugs and thoughts her/my way - VERY appreciated.

I even told my sister & brother in law that you guys were saying prayers and sending good vibes her way, and even though she really doesn't understand me (and my Disney ways :rotfl2: ) she was really touched that you guys would do that for a stranger. Thank you again.

Will be in & out this week - between caring for my nephew and going to the hospital, not sure when I'll be online. I will also try to finish catching up (I'm so glad there weren't 30+ pages for me to catch up on).

I'm FREEZING here in MD - wish I was back in FL!!!

I am glad you sis is better. How did she take the news of her histerectomy?

Hi All - I am caught up and working on the roll call and updates and round up.

My friend Jeannine and I were busy getting my resume all updated for a new job I am applying for. It would be a nice promotion, so we really worked on getting it all up to date and polished, etc...which is why I HATE applying for new positions...

Anyway, back in a few with all the news that's fit to print....

I hope you get a great job!

Are you talking about Secret Mickey?? I had assumed (yes, dangerous!) that it was played on the ship. I don't think I'd want to mail stuff, either. But, I'm all for delivering onboard, if anyone wants to play.

Carolyn

I couldn´t mail stuff even if I wanted, with our snail mail it would arrive after the cruise even if I sent it now :lmao:

Smoking is luck of the draw, but I have to say I'd be disappointed if I couldn't sit out because of smokers next door. I wish it was like at my work where they can only smoke in one designated place.

Didn't suffer any noise from children (or adults!) running up and down the corridor, but that could also be luck of the draw. Although I would hope a call to Guest Services would soon put a stop to the problem. Or a tripwire.
.

I hope our neighbors don´t smoke, that would definetly make me regret paying fo the verandah.

And the tripwire comment was too funny! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Just to let everyone know the first six of the Fish Extenders are done and will go into the mail tomorrow. Lisa (Liserann), Noel (Birkner), Julie (Mexican-Mouseketeer), Angela (MrsMork), Stephanie (taysmom) and Lisa (calmom) your extenders will go priority mail so you should get them soon. The white zip ties that have been included with them are to tie them to you "Fish" so they don't "swim" away (this happened on the SC cruise). It takes about two days to do six so the next six should go out soon. Lori (Mom of 2 Princesses), Nanette (nskjerven), Deb (EllaEnchanted)and Katie (gabbysmom04) we have not received your addresses yet and will need them to send out your extenders.

As soon as we figure out just how to do it we will post a picture of the what the ones for this cruise look like.

Have fun decorating all!

Carol and Doug

Thanks! I can´t wait to get ours, and I will send you a pm when my friend tells me that she got it.

Hi All,

Here are the pictures of the Fish Extenders we are making for this WBREPO cruise.

This is the way you will receive them so there is lots of room to personalize them.

Picture002.jpg
Picture003.jpg

They look great! And you were so thoughtful adding the things to tie them so they won´t fly!

I really like this idea. It is hard to come up with all the different ideas, and how much stuff do you really want to haul back home?

As far as the names and the cabin numbers are concerned, I think that is one of the things Linda (Seaulater) puts in the mini Navigator. Is that right, Linda? How she manages that, I haven't a clue. :confused3 Much more organized than I.
