The fish extender looks great. Thanks so much for making them. When do you want payment?

Decorating will not be my forte, but I will be out and about looking for what I can use.

Going to be fun seeing them around the ship and popping goodies in the pockets.

This may be a stupid question I know, but are there scrapbooking stores in the UK? I'm sure there are. Anyway, Disney has some GREAT scrapbooking products that would be perfect to decorate these with. They have stickers...just tons of stuff. That might be a good start for you!

Lisa, if you keep up with lbgraves website for the EB you will be fine. Then hop back in closer to cruise time.

What is up with your friend .... is she in???

Well, I left her a message yesterday about the info I found out from my TA about her joining me and Cindy. She called me back today to tell me after thinking hard about it, although she's tempted, she's not coming. She and her husband promised their kids a WDW vacation this fall, so that has taken priority. Understandable! Her kids deserve it. :thumbsup2

Regarding May DIS Meet....if we can't do a weekend one, I vote for 5/21 (cause if it's 5/22 I'll have to take three days off work instead of two). Ya think all the Pirates 3 preimer people will be gone by Sunday night, don't cha?

No, today was not any better. I was stuck on the freeway going to a meeting for an hour because they shut the freeway down. That was how my day started at 630am.
My Alaska cruise is officially caput! I canceled it today. It just was becoming too worrisome and no long fun. Not to mention it kept cost us more and more and more money. So the girls are good with canceling because we will do something else with them this summer. And my friend and I know we made the right decision because canceling it did not leave us crying and depressed, it has left us releaved.

So now, it appears that Jeannine and I really will be going on the East Bound Med Repo cruise without our teens!! We are waiting for final pricing info but it looks like we will be on our way!!! So I guess God really doesn't close a door without opening a window!!:rotfl:

Someone wrote about how great the Disboards are to everyone. I was also the recipient of their love and concern. Two months after I booked the first East Bound repo cruise, I found out I had breast cancer. And I had a really agressive form. I was 41 and it had already spread to my lymph nodes. So 15 months before I am to leave on my dream cruise I go totally hit for a loop. My friend Susan (Ivanova) kept the boards informed of my progress. I ended up getting so sick from the chemo that I moved in with my parents. Needless to say, I was too sick to get on the boards (and you all know, that is really sick!!!) I was feeling really down, I was bald, I wanted to die because I was so sick, and I just didn't feel like I could keep going with the treatment. That weekend Susan came by and she had a box for me. Inside the box was cards and wishes and hats and scarves and doo-rags for my bald head. I had everything from Mickey mouse patterns to parrots. I cried and cried and cried. It was just what I needed. I started wearing the head ornaments and we took pictures and emailed them in. Needless to say, that care package gave me the motivation to stay with the program and make it through all my treatments and I still made it on the cruise. My hair was not very long, and I looked pretty butch, but I was on my cruise! So yeah, we do get to know each other really well, and we are there through the good times and bad. I still get teary eyed thinking about it. Disboards seem to attract the cream of the crop when it comes to outstanding human beings!!

Thank you for sharing your story - and you obviously are one of the cream of the crop you make reference to! Looking forward to all the planning and sharing over the next year. Everything you are doing for this cruise is so appreciated. Thank you!

Is the Cindy going with you the same friend of yours that gives you a hard time talking about the cruise or is it a different Cindy?

We should think about this . . . I think some people on our last cruise felt "pressured" to make sure that they did something nice for everyone. With 97 cabins, this may be hard for everyone . . . and, you can ship the stuff to the port, but then you have to haul it all home . . .

I am going to make a suggestion . . . how about if we come up with 15 things - one for each night of the trip? The leis could be one, the lanyards another. Make them nice things that those who are interested could contribute to instead of 97 other things. Whoever wants to volunteer and come up with the ideas can be responsible for getting the stuff and distribution. We could all end up with some nice things to remind us of the cruise. No one would go broke or crazy trying to come up with 97 different ideas that were cost effective. (one idea that I liked from our last cruise was a deck of cards with our cruise date and info on it - another one could be a custom Christmas ornament). Things that someone may not be able to buy individually for everyone, but they could afford to contribute so that they could have a keepsake.

This would also keep the kids (and the kid in all of us) happy for each night's "surprise". We have 15 months to come up with creative ideas, and this is a very talented group. The "fish extenders" is what gave me the idea for this approach.

In addition to that, everyone could bring a card or something like that for each cabin that they could distribute, maybe with a picture of their family and name, with email addresses, etc. so that those who want to keep in touch can, and it could also be something for a scrapbook.

This is just a suggestion. I know we went nuts trying to figure out what to bring, and I felt bad for those who thought they "had" to bring something to exchange.

Any thoughts?

Thanks John, I was just thinking about this today that it would cost a lot to get something unique and not junky for everyone. I hadn't even thought about getting everything back home. I like the idea of 15 (or even less) nice things that we all contribute to the cost of. What could they be? Off the top of my head I can think of visors, water bottles, coffee mugs (although they would be very heavy, so probably not practical), bandanas, fanny packs. The playing cards sound very cool!

Am I on the right track? Please elaborate on how they'd be paid for. Would one of us would be responsible for locating a source for a certain item, reporting to the group the cost and then those who want an item pay for it? Or would 2-4 of us go together on the cost for 95 of a certain item and then give them to everybody (as our gift)?

I have several Mickey watches - but keep looking for a "perfect" one. I want a traditional one with the Mickey arms that move, but not cheap. I have had trouble finding one that I really like. Most of the non-cheap ones (my everday watch is a Citizen Eco-drive) like the Citizen ones just have Mickey on them, but not the moving arms. I also want it to be fairly waterproof for swimming - as I don't like to take it off at the pool. If anyone finds one like that, let me know!

I know this is not what you are looking for.....but this was so weird. After we had this discussion, something very strange happened.

We are going on the MED in July. Several have posted DIS that the MED packages are in the mail, but we have not gotten ours. I have gone to the mailbox everyday, hoping I would find mine. On Staurday, there was a great big package from Disney....MY MED PACKAGE....I was so excited I could not breathe. Ran inside and tore open the package. NO MED PACKAGE....the Disney Annual Report......I was so disappointed.

But in there was also an add for the Chase Disney Visa.....Do you guys all have one?? If not, you should get one. The add gives a Free Mickey watch....I will post in the next post after this one the add....2 pages.... the CODE if anyone wants to do this is 645R27. It has a very good description of the watch and I hop you can read it....but if not I will post the description.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry about all you had to go through! But hearing about the love you received from so many people on the DIS just made my eyes leak!

Is the Cindy going with you the same friend of yours that gives you a hard time talking about the cruise or is it a different Cindy?

That's the same Cindy. In fact, somebody here posted the number of days left with a whole bunch of these guys: party: and I copied and pasted that into an e-mail to Cindy. She just opened that e-mail today and said something like, "Don't make me hurt you!" :scared1: BUT I also e-mailed her the confirmation I received a couple days ago and that got her excited. So I'll keep pestering her to keep her excitement level up. If you don't see me onboard, it means she got fed up with me after all! :rotfl2:

Or maybe even something for every other day to help even more with getting everything home.

Wow!! Congratulations!

I joined curves in October and did well until I pulled my back out (degnerative disks since I was 24ish) and then DD with stomach flu, then 2 weeks in WDW at christmas, then I had the flu, then my DD had the other flu...

Anyway, I'm getting back into it again slowly. Updates and encouragement are always welcome!

Karen, wife of been2marceline

I know what you mean - I was going to miss 2 1/2 weeks for vacation last year (WDW & DCL) but I think it ended up being actually closer to 4, missed one before - got to get ready for the trip and then another after cleaning, unpacking, laundry etc.

Keep going even slowly is better than not at all!

Ah....a girl after my own heart. Academy Awards day is my "SuperBowl Sunday". Special foods purchased and, phone off (except when sister Peg is not with me...we need to call each other during commercial breaks!). The AMC theaters here are showing all five nominated movies on Saturday...now I've done a triple feature day before, but five in one day would be something!

I was thinking of trying that AMC showing until I saw it is 10 1/2 hours long! I wish the movies nominated each year could be a little more mainstream. The only one of the 5 best pics we saw in the theater was Little Miss Sunshine - loved it. Considering we saw 48 movies in the theater last year you think we would have hit more!

Love that the awards come on so early here too so it's not 11:30 a night when they end.

What a wonderful story. A very dear friend of mine, 39 was also a breast cancer victim.....a little later than you.....she had an 18 month protocol of chemo. I do not know how you get through....I am so proud of you and Jenni (my friend).....18 months on Chemo....seems horrible.

We kept a "Jenni box" at church and we would put gift cards (she has 4 sons at the time they were 8,8,7 and 6) to help feed the kids and so she could get things she wanted.....you really want to help in these situations....sounds like the DISers really came though for you!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks Laura, for sharing this story! And thanks for being our ring-leader!

How do we know how many treats to get? Will we be posting how many people have fish extenders, the ages of the kids (if any) once we get closer to the cruise so we know how many of stuff to bring? This will be fun! Lisa

On the 11 night SC cruise we got the number of staterooms and their numbers from the roll call (or in that case, roster). Then there were staterooms on each deck who were responsible for posting any stateroom updates (such as gtys) or changes after we got on board.

Most of the things gotten were from Oriental Trading Company and were small, not real expensive and easy to fit in suitcases. Things like post cards, magnets with pictures of the ship that they made, etc. Some of the people from other countries gave postcards, bookmarks, candy or something small from where they lived. This was really a lot of fun to get. There were some people who went together and got something more expensive like Message Boards with our logo, visors, lanyards and name tags, etc.

THE ONE THING THAT SHOULD ALWAYS BE EMPHASIZED IS THAT NO ONE IS REQUIRED TO DO ANYTHING BUT WILL BE A PART OF THE GIFT RECEIVING AS LONG AS THEY ARE ON THE Roll Call. :flower3:

The fish extender looks great. Thanks so much for making them. When do you want payment?

Decorating will not be my forte, but I will be out and about looking for what I can use.

Going to be fun seeing them around the ship and popping goodies in the pockets.

Marilyn,

I have sent you a PM.
