Since we're doing airports this trip......John and I were TRYING to go with one check in each and one carry on each. Alas, we have succumbed to bringing 2 check ins each and one carry on each. His extra will be a garmet bag for formals and my extra will be my duffel of fish gifts and tiaras for parties. It just couldn't be helped.:confused3

OK, now with the correct dates!

Seriously, I saw the cost of magnetic sheets and nearly fell over. I thought there has to be a cheaper way to make lots of signs. Then I remembered I made some cheap magnetic signs once using old magnetic business cards.
What cost are you seeing? Magnet paper for an ink-jet runs slightly over $1 per page.

You know, I generally lose weight while vacationing (even cruising). I tend to move around more, of course, but I also tend to eat higher quality food (restaurants where they'll cook to your requirements) as opposed to grab and eat places. I also had groceries on hand and was able to pack lunch several times this past week. I went EIGHT days with no french fries...what a difference that made.

A little success goes a long way too. There were fries on the table at lunch today (good ones too) and I ate FOUR and left the rest. Didn't want to lose any ground now!

.

Amazing how that happens......you are on a roll......don't let anything get in your way now......you GO girl!!!

Good morning all! Am I the only one in North America up and on?

I went to be too late (working on signs) and woke up too early.

My tenants woke me up with their dogs. That got Truman and Tallulah barking so I hauled myself out of be about an hour a go.

Last night I set up a new Airport Extreme base station.

I was not aware that the Extreme Base station does not play well with older Airport Expresses. If you use an Airport Express to act as a bridge for an Airport Extreme, you cut your network speed down by 50%. I have 2 Expresses which got the network speed down by 50%.

I found all this out during a call to Apple, becaue I also for the first time in my life had trouble setting up the hardware.

Apple's phone support (I spoke to someone in California not India) was great!

I now have 2 Airport Expresses that I don't need anymore, so I have to figure out how to sell them.

A funny thing happened during the call. While I was on the phone with the guy, he had me check out the various devices in throughout the house to see if the signal from the single Extreme base station would be strong enough for the entire house.

I went from floor to floor, room to room checking out devices.

Then I say to him, I have to check out the Chumby, because she's located at the furthest point in the house.

He says, "What's a Chumby?" So I tell him. I then go to make sure that Mrs Bennett has the right network password and is getting a strong enough signal.

The Apple guy says, "Hey, the Chumby is really cool!" He was look at it while I was doing my configuring. Then to test it out, I had Mrs Bennett start playing some music from Sorcerer Radio.

The Apple guy was floored. It was rather funny. I think I sold a Chumby during the support call.

I also put in an order to upgrade our DSL connection with AT&T yesterday to a higher speed.

Sukie has said that we are becoming more and more dependent on the Internet and more and more things in the house are connected to the Internet. Sukie said yesterday that pretty soon we going to be so connected that if we lose our Internet connection the toilet will stop flushing.

Today is going to be very busy. I have the test drives at 9:00 AM and then running errands.
.

Ian . . . just out of curiosity, what kind of Mac do you have? Unless it is a newer Macbook or Macbook pro, your network will still run at that slower speed - the older Macbooks (like mine) are 802.11g - not 802.11n.

I have one extra airport express. A good use for it is to take it with you when you travel. I take mine with us to WDW - when I buy the internet service at the hotel, I plug it into the ethernet, and set up my own wireless network in our room so that I am not tied to the wire.

I spent more $ at the expo today....more than I expected to that is. I even got myself some champagne die cuts for the Champagne Girls pictures that I will have :goodvibes

Then went to the Samsonite store & spent more $ there - bought the big brother to my 24in spinner.....figured the 28in would work for the cruise. That w/ my rolly polly carry on & my backpack should be able to handle everything.

John, does this mean I can bring the touch and actually use it at SSR (the free Internet should be in place by then), lol.

those are all the things I am telling my husband! Well, not stop attacking your brother...!

so would you say from two to three is much different?

I think there is quite a difference in a family of 4 and a family of 5. The world seems to be set up for a family of 4. For instance, a family of 5 requires a 2 bedroom at most DVC resorts. Lots more points. Something to consider for a family that loves to travel Disney style.

Amy...sorry the weather is so humid. Sounds like you are getting to experience a bit more of the area than last time. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

If she gets back on here, you guys have to talk her into a side trip . . .

Some of the people she is with are trying to talk her into a weekend trip to Boracay

http://www.promotiontravels.com/gallery/v/Philippines/Borocay/

She is reluctant to go because you actually have to take the last part of the trip to the island in some kind of sea canoe. All it would cost her to go next weekend is the airfare - $100.

I told her I want to trade places!

Hi Angie! :wave2:

Monica, look at it this way.....it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.....as Ian would say: going Ocean to Ocean.....you'll have memories to last a full life with all your new special friends and you'll want to do something special to preserve those......the champagne die cuts are brilliant!

This is the right time to think about getting that luggage for the packing. We're almost at the 30 day mark. It's good to get it now and get it out of the way. Now all you'll have to think about is getting it packed.

Yeah, I'll be doing two check-ins also. Hopefully the large and medium suitcase....not two large! I didn't want to take the full size carry on also, as three wheeling bags is problematical (though the new ones do hook together). I just wanted to take my shoe tote on the plane. Well, we'll see what happens as I tweek the packing and decide how many presents to bring along. :rolleyes1

A good chunk of tomorrow will be spent will be spent w/ my personal shoppers/consultants Will & Mickey (more Mick). THey are going to help me buy some new duds. I went to the Bealls outlet store yesterday & bought 2 tops & a dress---I get to model for the guys tomorrow and see if I get their approval (after all THEY do need to be seen with ME and I don't want to embarrass them :lmao: )

I picked up socks and undies for John, got some first aid stuff and am now working on packing. I think everyone is well outfitted but me. I bought a formal to wear the other night a whopping $22.50 on clearance at Dillard's. It is short though. All the nice dresses I posted that my mom bought me are sooo not going to fit.

What the heck is that new Avatar? Looks like a strange Pogo creature?

I a not talented enough to change the castles, but I will put this on the graphics page of the website, so others can use it. It is at 250 pixel per inch, so good enough for printing. I have it sized for a 5x7 magnet etc.

PJ . . . should I even BOTHER with door magnets? :rotfl2:

Should I just put our names on the door?

Borocay looks just like CC except that it looks like people live there all year long......how exquisite!!! Amy, if you do go, please take lots of pictures and tell us all about it. I can understand why you may be reluctant since it seems arduous to get there.....but it appears to be so worth the journey.

Hello there, my dear friends.

I hope this evening is finding everyone well :lovestruc

Angie - so glad that DGD is doing better. Have you gotten your plans set up for your trip to PA?

The plans are set, but I don't know them all yet. I am flying from Portland to Spokane Wed after work. Short 1 hr flight that will save me a long 6 - 7 hr drive. Thursday I will get hooked up with my uncle and we will fly to Philadelphia, We return Sunday and don't get into Spokane until 10:30, so I will not be flying back to Portland until Monday morning. I do not know where we are staying. My cousins wife's sister is making all the travel arrangements. I am a bit anxious with that. Control freak.... My uncle said "they" will meet us at the airport. Not sure who "they" are, likely my cousins wife and/or her sis I would think. The Portland to Spokane and back piece are all I scheduled myself. I would have gotten us on an earlier flight on Sunday if I had a choice. My uncle is 82 and I am sure that he will be really tired by 11 at night. I will be staying with a very good friend of DrHug and I in Spokane the night before and night after the flight. My uncle will stay with me the night after as well. He said he will get all the info by mail either today or Monday so I will know where I am staying etc then. I will feel better knowing more. Thanks for thinking of me.
