It's snowing so heavily that huge fluffy chunks, the size of a quarter, were plopping onto my windshield the whole drive home! SO PRETTY! Everything we had all melted during the week, but now everything is covered again and looks lovely! Supposed to only get 3 inches though. And it will probably melt tomorrow.

Connie works at one of the WDW resorts at the DCL check-in. :goodvibes

Now that makes sense. Thanks.

Vicki, I noticed that you are in Gurnee. I was just there a couple of times over the last month or so. I was so happy because I was able to go to the Cracker Barrel and Culvers!

Wow, how ironic. May I ask why you came to our lovely village? Besides, of course, to eat at Cracker Barrel and, my favorite, Culvers?

Bad, bad day here. I really thought 2008 was going to be better but... I got a call from DD this morning that DGD12 was being transported from Salem Kaiser dr office to Dornbecker's Childrens Hospital. She has a very serious case of pneumonia. The Childrens Hospital is attached to the one DD and I work at by a skybridge so an easy walk over when she arrived. Her right lung is completely full and they were talking about putting in a chest tube, but after a second xray thought that might not be necessary. They have her on a couple of IV antibiotics and we are praying for a quick recovery. She is on oxygen, had a reaction to vancomycin and had to be put on benedryl for that. She is quite the trouper. When they were trying to get an IV in at Kaiser to transport they kept sticking her and she finally said "could you just try a different place?" I spent a bit of time with them, then decided I would go back to work for awhile while the docs worked her up and decided what to do. As I was walking back to my office I got a call on my cell from my sis telling me our cousin had commited suicide this morning. :sad2: This was as huge shock, the last person I would expect this from. His dad (my favorite uncle) has lost 2 wives in the past 5 years and now a child. :sad1: How much loss can one person endure? He can use lots of prayers. He is 82 years old and plans to fly back to Delaware for services. So far no one has been able to say they can go with him. I will talk with DrHug when he gets home and see if I can do a couple of days.

Ok, now I am going to try to catch up on this new thread. I will skip the last 10 pages of the old one.

Thanks for listening to my troubles.:grouphug:

Angie,

I am so sorry! :grouphug: Our prayers are with you and your family.

Awesome news!!! I know this will sound silly, but that makes my night!!

Frank is terrible. They say he has Failure to Thrive. He has a fever and his blood pressure is about 70/40. He is throwning up and coming out the other end as well. He has had the hiccups since Monday non-stop. They say he is becoming septic, which I am not to sure I understand. They told me the infection is racing though the blood stream. He is weak and miserable.

Sorry to be so graphic,
Lisa

I was actually there because my DH's two grandmothers passed away within weeks of each other and they lived in Waukegan. We stayed at a hotel right next to the Cracker Barrel. It was freezing when we were there.

PJ... Love your avatar!!!

hey, Kim. I have always loved that line, and it is one of my favorite movies. There was a shirt at AK once that was plain white and in black font had this line, I so wanted it, but only size small left, wonder why, lol.

Hi Hon,

Have a good day? Were you able to get out and about a little. Looking forward to you coming home tomorrow.

Carol

Hi Yourself,

Yes was able to find where they hid 98% of the stores in this town. Didn't find the Sam's Club though which is probably a good thing.

Did have to go out to the plant about 5AM but that turned out to be nothing major and was back at the hotel by 6:15.

Temp here made it up to 86 today with lots of sun. Sure wish I could bring this weather with me.

Checked on my flight and it is still listed as on time and leaving from Terminal "A" at 11:30 tomorrow.

Time to go get something to eat then come back and pack.

I have the same problem with PA, shipping to my house.....but Karen ships to me anyway......she writes fragile glass on the box and just puts down that she's shipping lamps or something. I've ordered twice from her and she has shipped to my house without any problems. Yes, I did have to be home to sign for the package. But she said she will ship to our hotels in FL and the front desk can sign for the package. It's not a problem.

I thought the law got changed here in Florida. It used to be that you couldn't import wine but I thought you could now. I'll try to find out. Connie

Hi guys,

Been too busy to get caught up so I'm afraid anything from the beginning of this thread I'm in the dark on...

I'm taking my laptop so I'll try to check from in LA.

I'll say hi to the mouse for all of us! :goodvibes

I am so sorry for those of you who are struggling with loved ones. I know how it is and hopefully the families stay together in this time of mourning. Our prayers are with each and everyone of you.

Hi read this over on the main forum, wasn't sure if this had been discussed here.

From another teens point of view.

I have been on three DCL cruises, all a week long. Each time I haven't really had many rules set, which I feel allowed me to enjoy the cruise a lot more. I am not one that likes to stop doing something because its 5:30 and I need to go change for dinner, or its 1am and I am a curfew so I have to leave the Stack or leave the group of people I am hanging out with, since that is really when you get to know a .lot of the people

My mom has taken post its and pens so we can leave notes in the room for each other, on my most recent cruise this was utterly pointless since I was only in the room to change clothes for the most part, spent maybe 30minutes in there one night eating dinner while watching a basketball game or something. This seemed to work the best though. We would also see each other around the ship a few times a day and touch base on what we were doing for the rest of the day and what we would do the next day if it was a port day.

As for getting to bed early on customs day (for Eastern cruises) and the last night, a curfew might be good those days. On my Last cruise some of us were always up really late. Something like 3am was the earlier I ever came for the most part, there was one night I went in at 2:20 and another I was in at 1::30 or so b/c the next day we had customs in St. Thomas. We were also up till 4:30 on the last night, and had to be up at 7:30 to get ready to get off the ship that morning. Wishing now that I didn’t do that.

The older teens (15-17’s) don’t like hanging out with the younger ones(13-14’s) much. On all my cruises they have had a tendency to be really annoying and be in the way at times. I have meet a few older 14 yr olds that were very mature and did hang out with them quite a lot but you couldn’t tell they were 14, they seemed much older. Last week (March 15th-22nd) there was 130 teens in the Stack for the 411, and it seemed about half were under the age of 15.

Also keep in mind that they will be no long allowing 13-14’s in the Stack as of May 10th. This is what Taylor in the Stack told me last week, and it has been rumored for quite a while.
And as for finding their way around the ship, it will be no problem. It takes me about a day to get my bearings back when I go back onto the ship. My first cruise, I was all over the place and figured it all out pretty easily, I would say by the 2nd or 3rd day.

Ladies have a blast in DL.

Nan have a great Brithday weekend.

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday...Friday's almost here! What does everyone have planned for the weekend?

We'll be doing some spring cleaning (actually trying to get rid of some of the junk in the basement, so we can move some of our winter stuff down there....to get room upstairs to lay out our suitcases....

I'm a cusper..born on the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces....and definitely a water person...born in Halifax, and joined the Navy...

I was in Zellars today and saw this t-shirt....almost picked it up for the trip...

"I may be perfect, but I'm Canadian too!" :cool1:

So what will the 13/14 year olds be doing, if they can't be in the stack.
