They were GREEN balloons too! I have pictures of you guys, but they are from far away. Didn't have the zoom on the camera.

Thanks!

I wonder if the ship would allow us to bring GREEN balloons on when we board? I never thought of it. Patrick would love it!

so we'd have to put two batteries in sep bags? My Canon takes 4

I am looking further into this but from what I have read it is Lithium-ion that is the main concern and then to a lesser extent the Lithiums. If you have NIMH you are fine (which are the most common). Lithium ion are usually the camcorder batteries.

I'm good. I've got that our team is on May 19 (Acapulco) and we have Seaulater, Mom323, Ginamarie and Cquick on our team.

The "gift" has been ordered and I am awaiting their arrival!

OH, GOOD< I was going to PM you about it tomorrow. Let me know how much you need......I can either bring it or send it to you. connie

Nan... I swear...there's tomato plants in there somewhere!!!

And OH... I wish my back yard looked like that RIGHT NOW!!!!! :flower3: :flower3:

Two things:

1. Thank you to everyone for responding to my laundry question and for taking such a great interest in my underwear. Not since my mother, has any one shown such a great interest in the state of my undies.

2. I am thinking of buying Sukie a higher end digital camera. Not something compact. Any recommendations for a sub-pro camera?

.

I'm loving the Nikon D40x I got at Thanksgiving.

PS..the FLU sucks! especially when there's 2 of us sick...I want to be babied, I don't want to be the mommy today!

OH, I am SO SORRY, I wish I could be there to help you out.....

One time I had my mom come over to help me out after I had vein surgery, and they all got the flu! My Mom, My Husband, my son! I ended up taking care of them and myself! What a fiasco!

Patrick and I have had flu shots ever since....I know lots of people don't believe inthe flu shot, but I do.

Now a treat for my female soldier is some scented lotion in the little tiny bottles from Bath and Body Works and a bottle of nail polish. Another thing that points to the fact I would not cut it as a soldier! :rotfl:

:lmao: Yeah, I guess I'd have a hard time maintaining my acrylic nails over there, huh?

Seriously, God bless her, and all the women serving!

Oh, good! That means you can dr8nk Screwdrivers, Mohita's, vodka Gimlets, and most rum drinks! :jumping1: those are jumping limes!

Gin and tonics with lime :thumbsup2

I've always wanted to try a Mohito but I found out sugar is a main ingredient so I'd probably have to trade off an entire meals worth of carbs to have it :scared1:

If you are looking at a dSLR then I am going to recommend the Pentax K200D. It has weather sealing, takes AA, uses an SD card (which I am finding are cheaper than CF) and the big feature for me coming from a Canon S2 is that the Image stabilization is built into the camera - Nikon's and Canon's build it into the lenses which usually results in more expensive lenses.

Now if you are not looking quite at a dSLR I would highly recommend the Canon S5 that V just bought and has been providing us with some great pics. It is considered a "prosumer" camera because it is not quite the dSLR but does have some of the similar features as well as a great 12x optical zoom. It is also quite renowned for its video ability. I loved my S2 and if it hadn't had the problems I would probably be taking it with me on this trip.

As for my dSLR (the pentax mentioned above) - I'm still learning how to operate it and hopefully will get some of the basics down in time for the ship so that it isn't much more than just an expensive P&S.

I just called DCL to see if I could get my room nbr changed, but they said nope. Will try again later.
Just keep trying, especially in a few weeks....things do change. Also if nothing has changed for you, ask again at the port. Connie

I'm really enjoying my new Nikon D40. (really wanted the D40x or D80 but didn't have the $). Now I just want the 18-200 lens.

The D80 was my first choice before I got pointed in the Pentax direction. But coming from the Canon S2, the Pentax K200D just seemed like the perfect fit.

I picked up an 18-250 lens for it as my walk-around lens and is it ever fun with the basically 14x zoom you get with it! Should be fun for the trip!

I'm also hoping to get a 50mm 1.7 prime lens to take on rides. But we shall see. I think Shannon is still in sticker shock over the new camera. Best to let it settle in first before I buy more lenses... LOL

1. Definately maybe.....

2. I was thinking over the head....

3. You can have all my tomatos... or at least the ones that I don't eat off the vine... (can you say MIRACLE GROW!!!)

did you just offer to off my DH? I'll keep that in my back pocket for a rainy day.:lmao:

I do grow tomatoes too, but the darn dog (the red one) picks them carefully off and eats them before we can get them for ourselves.

Traditional Turkish Delight is a soft jelly like candy(see i'm becoming assimilated into USspeak), very very sweet. It is covered in icing sugar. I imagine that is what was given by the witch. The Turkish Delight I love is covered in a thick chocolate and doesn't seem as swet. It is delidh!!!

There's a candy here called "Aplets and Cotlets" http://www.libertyorchards.com/newac.asp
Is it like this?
No offense, but chocolate covered sounds...not that good to me.

OH! I am NOT getting up at 6am for ANYTHING! The motion of the ship makes me sleep and sleep and sleep....in fact last year when we did the TA, the best sleeping days were the wild weather ones! Connie

I think I'm just like you. If I can afford to not wake up and do nothing, I'll sleep all night and day.

Patrick and I have had flu shots ever since....I know lots of people don't believe inthe flu shot, but I do.

Cionnie

We're believers too :thumbsup2

Heck, our insurance company sends us reminders every year because of other health issues.

I posted a while back about our Cafepress order but didn't see any responses.

Can I just ask - if you've ordered anything from Cafepress, was the spelling correct on the logo? I thought I'd seen that it had been corrected (as shown on the Ship of Thieves website), but ours wasn't. If we're all wearing badly spelled t-shirts, then fine. But I want to check in case it's an error by Cafepress.

OH MY GOSH! I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE.....SHIP OF "THEIVES"! I guess I'll call them tomorrow! We didn't even look at them, just hung them up in the closet! How funny! How many others are out there?

We just got ours this week.........

I got one this year, I'm a believer now and forever. On the fence about getting it for the kids.
