They've been for sale up in Canada for the last several years, and they do very well up there. A big benefit is that traction and stability control come standard on every version of the car (even the $11k base version). I was talking to a guy from Calgary who was telling me that he had taken it out into a nice snow-covered parking lot and spent 30 minutes trying to spin out in it, and couldn't - the car just wouldn't let him loose control, etc. And the rear wheel drive helps in the snow, too...

We have had snow, at least 3 inches, twice a week every week for the last month. And the Smart cars up here are still out on the road everyday. They just make you smile as they drive by.

Nan, you have now obligated poor wilson to a performance, can you schedule a time and I will add time and location to the calendar, :3dglasses .

I think we can arrange for that somewhere in between his showing with Ian & Sukie at the Tuxedo Extravaganza...perhaps it will be the closing act. I will as his stage mom/manager bring the stinkie (another name for his blankie, which he mispronouced and it stuck) as it is used as the shawl/hoodie in the babushka moment of truth....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ian, are you sure you're up to all this????

There will of course be presold tickets availble at a reasonable cost, DOD I think it was....:rotfl:

For those of you still in the Lifeboats I found a great boardgame to play while there...

Hey! I'm up for it. Which tux? The tails or the white dinner jackets?

that kinda freaked me out...I'm not ready, I have to pack :scared1: :woohoo:

I don't even have the suitcase unpacked from October. I washed everthing summery, folded it and put it back in. It is in a closet somewhere. Normally it would have been out and semi-packed by now,:sad2: .

I haven't decided if I am driving to BUF Thursday night or Friday morning. Will I do a stay and park hotel or park at the airport? How am I feeding 14 people on Saturday morning, grocery delivery or hit Goodings or other? No clue on how I am getting from DLR to LongBeach Airport (anyone flying out of LGB on Tuesday night?). Let's see what else is there to do?

But I do have sunscreen, :cool1: .

Well today we paid in full the WDW portion of the trip. Next up is the DL portion of the trip.

And I guess I really need to cracking on the transportation in LA ...

I just have no motivation today. It's sunny out and I just bought a new Photography book that I am dying to try out, but alas, no camera to play with .....

I saw my GYN the other day. He ran a few blood tests. He just called with the results. He asked me if I used sunscreen. I said yes and was concerned as to why my GYN would want to know about my suncreen use. :confused3

Well, it appears I have a Vit D deficiency. He recommended more Vit D and time outdoors each day with out the sunscreen. I wonder if I can get reimbursed from our insurance for time on the cruise.

We need a poll, or actually I would like a poll, but haven't figured out how to do one.

With all the talk about dining times and dining rotations, which would you prefer if you could select just one as an option with DCL:

A specific dining time; for example 5:30 or

A specfic rotation, such as LAP.

So what is more important to you, time or rotation?

I am really torn between the two.

I would like 8:00pm. We have only cruised once. We had 8:30 dinner and we arrived at the Pirate Party just in the nick of time. I know you can ask the waiters to hurry things along and we should have done this.

But I would also prefer PLA rotation. It seems to be a a better rotation for this cruise.

Aaack the dilemma!!!!!

I wish your husband a speedy recovery and please make sure he does therapy. He could develop pneumonia. This happened to my Mom. She had knee surgery and when she came home from the hospital all she did was stay in the bed and she developed pneumonia and died 4 weeks later.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will ensure he doesn't stay in bed too much. It might be easier to lay around but I know that pneumonia can happen so quickly. My Dad is in a nursing home and they recently got the Norwalk Flu which for my Dad ended up in pneumonia as well. They had given him three days to live after that but somehow he came around and is still alive. He is very weak now and can't stand anymore but is still with us. We were very surprised.

One thing that really impresses us with your country is your praise of your forces fighting overseas. Whilst I realise not everyone will feel the same, we do get a feeling you value your troops.

In our country we are very bad at valuing our service personnel, but we have just reached a new low. One city, Peterborough, is close to an air force base, and the service personnel are being verbally abused when seen in uniform in the city because the abusers don't agree with our deploying troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.:sad2: So, they have been told not to wear uniform when out in the city!:confused3

That's awful, can't imagine! They're only doing their job, it's not as if they made the choice personally to fight in Iraq and/or Afghanistan...they have to do what their government tells them to do. Too bad the people they serve don't see it that way. I would think it would be hard to get people to join the military if they know there's a possibility they'll get that type of treatment!

I just ordered my part of the fish gifts that will be given out by the Liberty Belles. That was really the last thing I had to do. Now it's done. The only thing left is to send a box to the pier.....and that can't be done until one week before boarding. Hopefully I'll have a room assignment by then. I would like to put my number on my luggage and box to be mailed.

On the phone DCL now said 2 weeks before boarding we'll get assigned.....just in the nick of time before I have to have it for the mailing. That's cutting it close. I like to know in advance so it can be taken care of early and not have to do anything last minute. Oh well. I have to hope we'll find out as soon as possible.

As a fallback, if by some awful chance you don't have a room number, you can always send it to mine and pick it up. I'd be fine with that.

Hi everyone,

I need to clarify exactly what I'm offering as far as the "Little Thieves Homework Club."

If you know your child will have homework and don't like the idea of sitting down with them yourself in your cabin, figuring out the time to get assignments done, or haggling with them over doing it, this might be a good solution for you.

I already have 5 kids signed up and could take 2-3 more. I'm charging $25/kid per session. It's not going to be a drop-in thing. I'm not going to be "teaching" anything, per se, that is I won't be providing lessons or activities for the kids. It will be a situation where kids bring the assignments they've been given to do while on the cruise and I will supervise and assist them in completing them.

As I've already discussed with some of the parents, most kids will buckle down and work well with another adult in charge. If it's their own parent, it's a different story!:scared1: So I'm going to be the "other adult" while you stroll Deck 4 or have your morning coffee.:teacher:

You aren't obligated to have your child come all three times if they don't need to. I'd like you to commit to at least one session, however. In the event there is a lot of response, I'll keep a "waiting list". Some parents have already told me they think their kids may only need to come twice, so there may turn out to be space available as the week goes on.

I don't think any of the parents know yet what their kids will be given to do. My guess is that the kids may have some math to complete but mostly they will be asked to keep journals, do writing of some kind or perhaps do a certain amount of reading (either books, pages, or minutes) while gone. These are the kinds of things I'm prepared to help them with. I'm going to keep the group small so I will have time to spend with kids individually.

This setting is more suitable, I think, for 3rd grade and up, possibly 2nd if your child is able to work pretty independently. If your child's work is difficult for them and they would need a lot of guidance and encouragement to complete it, this setting would not be appropriate. Another way to put it is, if you desire a one-to-one situation for your child because they are younger, or have difficulty with their work and need close personal supervision please don't sign them up for this. This is intended be a quiet "study hall" type atmosphere with me being available to answer questions and keep them on task.

I hope I've cleared up any misunderstandings. Knowing now what I'm offering, if you're interested or have further questions please PM me.

Dates: May 13, 15, & 17. Time: 8-9 a.m. Place to be determined once we board.

Thanks!

PJ, I can bring whatever food we need....I know I won't eat much, I hardly eat breakfast on embarkation day. I am just too darn excited!

Susie, that's so nice of you and I might just have to take you up on it if we don't get room assignments before mailing the box out. We'll have to see as time goes on. But I will keep you in mind if needed. That is so very very nice of you. I really appreciate your offer. Thanks.:goodvibes

Wouldn't PLA be the better option for dinner? With that rotation The first formal night would be in Animators and the Semiformal and last formal would be in Lumiere's. Mexico and Pirate night would be in Parrots.

The perfect match of theme and venue! :thumbsup2

.. I remember finger-spelling the best, even though it takes soooooooooooo long.

It'd be fun to see how much I can remember.

Jolene

I remember 'most' of the alphabet. :lmao: Actually, just learned from a little card I was given a zillion years ago. I can spell/sign my name and that's about it!

....caught up...lunch break over....back to work.

Time is more important to me so that's why we picked by time even though I prefer the rotation we had on our first cruise (which was PLA). But such is life!
