the canon s5 is $399 is that a good price? is this an up to date camera? I guessI sould head to the photo board....

S5 is the latest V... should be a good choice for the long term - and good to have a good camera for the girls... get good batteries and take out the service plan...

Start the letter then you can fill in the blanks later!

Dear Mr. McAlpin...

I am PISSED....

(more to come...)

I think they really should open more. It just doesn't make sense to tell customers you can sign up before the cruise, but then not have 1 time available....here's wishing you a lot of pixiedust:
Lisa

I think they should have at least one slot open for each person/stateroom on this long a cruise.

& thanks for the pixie dust... us pixies can use all we can get!!!

I want to hear this story.....or do I? :confused3
.

So, what happened?

Woody

Had the nun from HE**... she was bonkers then... abused many children... sold Avon on the side... they put her away eventually but she forced me to eat my brothers lunch instead of letting me go across the hall to change it and from then on... no mustard...

& I hated school until 11th grade because of her...

Don't worry I am hard on electronics also. I had an HP laptop and it started acting up, then I tripped over the cord sending it flying to the floor. It did not survive, so I called my mom crying I had killed my laptop. She bought me my current gateway and the screen flickers on and off.

Last year on the cruise DH dropped my camera, it survived but with some damage. So I got the Canon S5 for christmas.

Our new TV, the DVD player is broken. I obviously was not meant to have electronic devices. Although my IPOD is still alive but only b/c I never use it. I even had to call tech support for my cricut.

Wow- a sister in kind! Do you go through watches like they are smarties? I mentioned earlier that I have 18 that I cleaned out from my drawer. I'm waiting on the Reebok watch/heart monitor to go out - I got it for Christmas - its already acting up! My heartrate goes from 179 to 60 in a matter of 2 seconds - why - its amazing I'm alive!

As for dropping the camera (::yes::) trying dropping it on St Martin back oh - about 8 years ago when they first started going there. DH just looked at me and did :sad2: while the whole boat went :scared1:

At any rate, I look forward to hearing back from Tuxxman.

.

Is he anything like the TUCKS man from long ago? :rolleyes1

What about those habits. Those :scared1: the living daylights out of me - thank goodness they stopped wearing the black and white ones in 2nd grade!

Castaway Rays:
I booked three of us and fourth decided he wanted to go too. They had no more openings for our time, so I booked one person for the hour after. Do you think they will give us trouble if he comes an hour early?

I leaving now so I know in the morning we will be on the next thread. Good luck to all that are trying to get resssies tonight!

If you explain I don't see why not. It's not like they don't have room.

Shots Around The Ship - A Stem to Stern Extravaganza

If you are interested in "Shots Around the Ship" (and no, I don't mean tetanus shots) please send me an email and I'll compile a list. We'll do it one evening after all the shows, entertainment, kids in bed, husbands in bed, wives in bed, whatever ...

Just shoot me an email (if you know my email address). If not (since I don't want to post it here), just go to my Mouse Manager site (http://www.mousemanager.com/contact/contact.php) and fill out the contact form.

Let's get this extravaganza going!

PS - Very excited, I just checked UPS, Mrs. Bennett has arrived in Alaska from overseas and is now starting her journey to Chicago.

.

Can't wait to hear that Mrs Bennett made it home safe & sound. :thumbsup2

That's awful!

Hi...I am so tired....I don't know how Kim spends so many weekends competing with her daughter....one weekend and I am wiped out. I am facing a very busy work week.

I read a lot on my blackberry between dances and during breaks. It should be interesting to see if any Palo opens up. It really should. I hope so.

Laura, looks like you have found a home here with this group. I knew you would like everyone!!

Our friend is over and making our juices for the week. Fasting with juicing will be pretty interesting...started tomorrow. We have two juices:
1) celery, spinach, apple, cucumber and
2) watermelon & apple
Kaylee, are these juices like the ones you do?
We are commited to do it for one week. Our friend has done it for 34 days. Wow!
Lisa

Wow you will have to update as you do this! I would love an honest opinion on this before I try anything like this. I have family members who swear by the "master cleanse" but it seems so dang hard to stick to something like that!

Yeah - my kids claim that I don't give anyone a choice - that I'm like that bulldog that bites and never lets go! J/K! Just takes a while for people to see I'm really nice! :rotfl:

NOTE TO SELF: please please please don't go off on anyone onboard ship - they all think I'm nice :rolleyes1

So sorry to hear about wilsons party, nan. Spaghetti Factory should be fun. I haven't been there in years!
I will email you and marr with dates for a super frank meet. My email server is down at school, so I can't look tonight..which sux! But, tomorrow I will.

Nice talking to you Marr...we are in big trouble..did you see the amount of time we were on the phone! OMG..chatty kathys we are!

:rotfl: I was thinking the same thing when I hung up! WOW she is a talker like me, but hey I like that. Always nice to have a friend to talk to.

Nan I am too sorry the day did not go as planned! That really does suck that RPM did not have their act together. If you would like to go there one day lets do a party there. If we have Wilson, Molly Taylor, Jacinda, and i have two other kids who would like it (Annie and Sarene) that is 5 kids. I am sure we could find five others, maybe even Dissers kids who would like to go. We could just split the cost of the party and they get the jr driver trainer cert with it. Could be a fun day. I know it is a long drive for you all but it would be fun. :drive:

I've done this to my laptop at least 4 times! And Tyler's knocked it off the table at least 3 times! Crazy thing....this laptop keeps going and going! I've had it 3 1/2 years now and I love it because it's only 4 pounds. It's about the cheapest brand out there: Averatec. The only problem I had was the little box part on the middle of the power cord (no idea what it's called) as well as the piece that plugs into the computer kept getting SUPER hot, so hot that it started to melt near where it plugs into the computer. But it was under warranty still, I sent it in, they fixed it, and I had my computer back in about a week and a half. This was about 2 years ago and no more problems since. :thumbsup2

Oh, that guy was worse. They canned him after the first show, and brought back someone like Rich Pupura for the second show.

Woody

They should have canned Bob after the first show too and then we could have just watched the Muppets and not had to endure him!

I sent him an email earlier, asking about his inventory, prices, what he recommends, etc.

The thought of owning my set of tails is even MORE exciting.

I'm sort of picturing myself wearing them to the supermarket, Home Depot (I can just see myself in Home Depot, "My good man, can you recommend a tool belt for a formal occasion?" or the conversations in the supermarket, "No one seems to dress anymore when shopping for dinner.")

I might just start wearing tails, everywhere!

At any rate, I look forward to hearing back from Tuxxman.

.

OMG I am really LOL reading this. If you do this of course you would need to provide pictures of your "Travels in Tails" :rotfl:

Wow that is one tough computer. Mine had a wireless internet card in it and the side bashed in.

I have done juicing in the past but with our expensive veggie selections and such I don't do it in the winter. What I do is a raw powder that contains fruits, veggies, and nuts that mixes in water. I drink 1 different powder every 2 hours 7x a day. I usually make it about 5 days and then I just miss chewing food too much. I am never hungry and have tons of energy...I just miss the joy of eating food if that makes sense.

Good luck!!!

Would you mind what brand of powder drinks you have been using? I am very interested in this all but like to explore all my options before diving in! :thumbsup2

Yup, it's been very sturdy! But I've been more careful recently after actually watching a classmate's computer shatter into tiny pieces when he accidently knocked his off the table in class. Very scary to witness!

Well I lost my post about the home network when the DIS went bye bye for awhile . . . Carol answered it for you V, I had some more details, but the most important thing was, that I can set this all up for you if you fly me down to Siesta Key and out of this snow and 20 degree weather!

what would I need an slr for?

An SLR is a single lens reflex camera, and the most important thing to know is that what you see through the viewfinder, is what you see through the lens, and is the picture you take. That, and the ability to buy and change lenses. If you are getting more serious about photography, even as a hobby, this is the right camera. Otherwise, a camera like the Canon S5 is a good compromise.

non MAC users....what laptop would you recommend? I would primarily use it for the net, and work - which is excel based and net based....downloading pics, etc.

Macbook, Macbook, Macbook.

John, our local library actually has tons of audio books that you can download onto your home computer for 3 weeks (or renew 3x and have for 9 weeks). We have done almost all of our books through them. The one glitch is that their program doesn't work with apple at the moment so we are using an older MP3 player to listen to those books. But, you can't beat the price!!! I don't know if all libraries are doing this yet...the other county near us doesn't, but it is worth looking into. HTH

My local library . . . only for Windoze users . . . UGH!

Here is what they say . . . Bunch of BS . . .

At this time, OverDrive Media files cannot be used on iPods or Mac computers.

Our media titles, provided by OverDrive, Inc., use DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection technology from Microsoft Corporation. Unfortunately the iPod (and Mac) currently support neither DRM-protected Windows Media Audio (.wma) files nor Windows Media Video (.wmv) files.

OverDrive, along with hundreds of online media providers, is hopeful that Apple and Microsoft can reach an agreement that would enable support for Microsoft-based DRM-protected materials on the iPod/Mac.

To review a list of devices that are compatible with OverDrive Media, click here.

You may also want to check device documentation to determine if a device supports DRM-protected Windows Media content.
