Linda - Thanks for the info.

Did the anchor get stuck on the 2005 Western PC? DW remembers the ship at a tilt, but did not know why.

Woody

Yes, as they were pulling it up they had problems. Kept thinking if they moved the ship in circles and kept tilting us from side to side it might correct itself, but it didn't, so they had to bring in manually. I wonder how many CM's had to hand crank that thing to get the anchor up?

How many people think they will release more times tonight? I wonder how they would do it...whether there is someone working on Sunday and will open up more times? Lisa

I hope so...

Yep, same here. MUSTARD only (then you may add pickles, onions, kraut, relish as you choose). My way....mustard and DILL relish! YUM!

Well the Cat 4 is gone. Wonder if they just upgraded someone and that's why the Cat 8 GTY(s) got assigned?

Regarding Palo....IF Kathe doesn't get a brunch for us (DDDD+D) tomorrow night/am, I will be submitting another group request to Disney for the private room, and I'll need names for that, so keep it in mind if you all don't get a ressie at 75 days and want to try for that.

Well, off to work my way through another pile of paper.

.

I may get in touch with you tomorrow if I can't get in either...

We have been watching Hitchcock on TCM channel today. North by Northwest then Psycho and now The Birds. The Birds creeps me out! It is almost over. :scared:

You can never go wrong with Cary Grant... :cloud9:

Just for you Holly, a quick shot with Photobooth - this should cheer you up, or scare the mice away! It will probably be gone by Monday.

You know John... I almost didn't recognize you without your tux...

I'm so glad you aren't going to drink my RUM

MY TEQUILLA!!!
Why do I have a feeling there's going to be a whole bunch of us wandering around at night with bottles ????

I am a pretty basic user!! John and I budgeted for a camera - not much but he just called and said if I can find a resonable laptop, I can get one! Would love to take it onboard! But of course...there aren't many pink ones!

and I have not heard good things about Vista.

I Hate HATE HATE VISTA - I have one that does not play well with others. It is holding my pictures hostage and refuses to share. I finally told DH that I didn't want it if it wasn't going to play nice so he got me the Sony Vaio from Fry's - BTW HATE Fry's but can't beat the prices. However, their customer service sucks - and NEVER, EVER buy a camera from them.

no one has a sony?

A couple of months ago DH bought me this one: Bear with me as I will type it in - all I know is that it is titanium based (I told you me and electronics do not get along right? ) hardshell so if ANYTHING happens to it - it is better protected than some others I've had:

Windows Vista Business
Inter Core 2 DDuo Processor T7700
Processor: (2.40 GHz, 4MB Ls Cache, 800MHzFS)
System Memory of 2 GB (1 GB X 2) DDR2-667 SDRAM (max of 4 GB)
Hard Drive: 160 GB
Optical Drive: DVD +-RW/
13.3 inch widescreen
Memory Stic Duo Slot: MaticGate, Memory Stick PRO Duo Compatible.

Oh Yeah! Weighs only 4 lbs too!

Anyway, I like it and it is fast but definitely too much memory for someone simple - but I do like the speed -plus the start-up is fast!

Good luck in what you buy, DH has had a Toshiba for the longest (over 6 years) and it finally went out. It would have been fixed but the newer ones are smaller and lighter.

Wow, your camera must be old! I've never had one take 4 batteries! Never! :rotfl2:

I have a really small Sony point and shoot and I really love it. Not sure what kind people are looking for but I love mine. It is so light and small you can put it on a lanyard and wear it around your neck when out and about.

My camera takes 4 batteries but it is big.

Don't worry I am hard on electronics also. I had an HP laptop and it started acting up, then I tripped over the cord sending it flying to the floor. It did not survive, so I called my mom crying I had killed my laptop. She bought me my current gateway and the screen flickers on and off.

Last year on the cruise DH dropped my camera, it survived but with some damage. So I got the Canon S5 for christmas.

Our new TV, the DVD player is broken. I obviously was not meant to have electronic devices. Although my IPOD is still alive but only b/c I never use it. I even had to call tech support for my cricut.

PS - Very excited, I just checked UPS, Mrs. Bennett has arrived in Alaska from overseas and is now starting her journey to Chicago.

Hey Ian, I am watching Annie from 1982 on TV right now, loving it. :mic: :cool1:

A Tail's Tale

I am on my quest for tails, and I have an educational tale to tell.

As you may recall from our last episode, Ian did not want any plain tuxedo. Ian phoned Cruiseline Formal, and asked about tails for a Disney Cruise. After clearing up the misunderstanding that he did not want to rent a Mickey Mouse tail, but instead was interested in a formal set of tuxedo tails, they told him they don't have any.

So, that brings us to today's episode... (go get your mug of Ovaltine).

I started phoning around rental places in Chicago. Men's Wearhouse has some very nice selection of tails on their web site, but no prices. I phoned a local outlet to make inquiries. After once again clarifying that when I said tails I was referring to a tuxedo, I and told that the price for a 7-day rental was $139, for the 14 days would be about $209 and for longer than that was $270. For the 2 of us that comes out to $540.

Given a choice of $540 for 2 sets of tails or sack cloth, we'll be appearing at dinner in sack cloth.

So, I decided to phone another rental place, this time a local Chicago chain and not a national chain.

The guy who answered the phone was very nice, and when I said, I'm interested in renting tails, immediately understood that I meant a tuxedo (this was a good sign).

He said that it would be about $99 to rent the tails for 1 week and then a bit more for 2 weeks. I told him it was a 15 night cruise, so I would need them longer than 2 weeks, he said (now imagine a Chicago accent), "Don't worry, we'll work something out."

This seemed much better, and much more in line with what I had in mind. He told me that, I should plan on coming in in April.

So, things have brightened up a bit. I'm going to call another local place during the week (no Sunday hours), to see what their pricing is like.

I guess in this case, it pays to go with a local place.

Opinions on Digital Cameras and Memory Cards

I saw some postings on this and am just going to chime in with my opinion here.

I personally do not recommend getting a mammoth 4GB memory card or anything like that. Here's my reasoning why, in my opinion, it is putting all of one's proverbial eggs in one basket (these are the views of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of other on the thread, the DIS, Disney, or this television station).

I have had memory cards go bad on me and become corrupted. While it may be a pain to swap out cards, my feeling are that if anything goes bad, I only lose the photos on that card and not everything.

Opinions on Laptops

I have been on Macs since 1995. Not a good source for opinions. I work on Windows at work.

I did have a Dell laptop at home for a while (hated it) until someone in this house who shall go unnamed, was taking a pot down from the ceiling pot rack and dropped a 3 quart Caphalon saucepan on it's screen. The Dell is now used to prop open doors, and also works great as a weight on the lid of my scanner when I need something heavy to press down a book being scanned.

It is now a Mac only house (that is until Mrs Bennett arrives), although I do also run Windows XP on my iMac under Parallels which is how I create the Windows runtime version of Mouse Manager.

So I openly admit that I am not a person to be proffering recommendations (sort of like fishing in polluted waters).

Ian,

Your Tale on a tail got me thinking. I had just bought a tux on E-Bay for $82 but didn't find any tails with this dealer. Soooo, I looked again and found a seller on E-Bay that has it all, tails in just about any color and size you want , new and used.:cool1: Price seems to run from about $100 to $150 (plus shipping). It might be cheaper to buy from this guy rather than rent if you can buy off the rack. The dealer name is "The Tuxxman" or just do an E-Bay search for "Tuxedo, tails" and that should get you there.

Doug

We've purchased a Mickey vest and tie from the Tuxxman. He is great to deal with!!! :thumbsup2

I've sent this to my DD and another friend. Thanks. Love the tattoo story as well!:rotfl:

loved it too, yes I've always felt they had it one step above us with our lowly windowsssssssss (not):rotfl2:

Our friend is over and making our juices for the week. Fasting with juicing will be pretty interesting...started tomorrow. We have two juices:
1) celery, spinach, apple, cucumber and
2) watermelon & apple
Kaylee, are these juices like the ones you do?
We are commited to do it for one week. Our friend has done it for 34 days. Wow!

We're leaving the track now. Going to toyrus or target to get something to cheer up the bday boy. Not the best way to spend his bday. We just decided to find an arcade to play for a while. We are planning to go to the indoor track in Sac at 1 with 2 boys from the gokart club. Better than nothing but I'm bummed we are not able to have his friends from home with him today too

made it to the vacaville arcade, but never to the Sac track. They backed off on the offer to waive the test for the boys (who have been driving carts for 3+ years, all have taken the Jim Russell 3 day class at Infinieon) and of course no class could be given to them today. So no go. Very sad. I really should have made a back up plan, but I kept thinking this was Paul's deal for Wilson (they race together) and I was along for the ride, so to speak. So non of the boys at the track could hang around for anything else (Paul didn't really invite them for a party, just assumed they would be there for the race anyways....) we had a late breakfast/lunch at iHop went to Game Stop bought the kiddo a few DS chips and came home and his best friends were on standby (yes mom was in the action on the phone all morning with these friends of course) and Paul took them to an arcade, Nickel City and we are having a 3 family dinner at Spagetti Factory at 5pm (eek, better get dressed, they will pick me up in a moment)

So, note to self....plan the party yourself, or let go of expectations and be prepared to deal with kids hurt feelings....

Off to eat pasta (& a rum and coke):drive:

Well I think he is in shock! Took him a few minutes even with Brent telling him several times that he was going on the cruise too. Then the "I can't get off in June since I'm off in May and July" started(he thought we were going to Myrtle Beach in May so I had to tell him that my cruise was in June). Once all the facts were out he understood. I'm sure when Brent goes home later I will get more questions. What I think is funny is that Brent needed to tell him so he could discuss some things with him . The things were-that the first thing they are going to do is go down the hall to Beat Street and see the traffic light and then they are going to play shuffleboard. The things a kid thinks are important!

Now to get him on this board!

Love it Gydell. The important thing is he gets to have his Grandpa, who he loves very much you can tell, with him playing shuffleboard :thumbsup2 :lovestruc

he said (now imagine a Chicago accent), "Don't worry, we'll work something out."

.

:lmao: I can just hear him. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry but because of a nun in 3rd grade... I can't do mustard... :sad2:

I want to hear this story.....or do I? :confused3

Back from my afternoon adventures, which involved a stop at Walmart....
ATTENTION CHAMPAGNE GIRLS In the women's section they had TINK shirts (t-shrit like) in Pink and Lime(ish) Green. The shirts had a round neck, and short sleves and were very lightweight. I didn't get one for myself because, once agin, they weren't long enough to suit me. I did fink a nice plain pink t-shirt in the men's department however! So I'll have to decide if I'll do an iron on for that one...or just go plain...but at least I'll have pink!

Guess I'd better go turn on the Oscar pre-show...gotta see what everyone is wearing!

.....I'll be checking back tonight to see how are newbies are doing with their bookings...keep us posted (oh better go find the new thread and subscribe to it too!...

.

of course, I expect you too....but don't touch my chocolate :lmao:

How about I bring enough for both???

We're off to the rainy track :crazy2:

Oh well, it could be worse, it could be an Earthquake!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Marr, we are going to Sac RPM, THANK YOU :cheer2: they are fitting the kids in at 1pm, since they have experience they will waive the class.

Call me when you wake up I'm not going to wake you with this wonderful news.

:drive: All the smiles are reconfigured on my screen, I guess this is my bday present huh????

LOVE YA MEAN IT....I'll explain that one later, but some of you may know about that already????

Nan :joker:

Is it your bday???? Really??? REALLY??????

Wow....

What do I say...

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: HAPPY DAY!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

(even if it's not....) :goodvibes
