Good idea - giving it a try.

What do you think?

Now if only I had Seven's figure ...

Good job :thumbsup2

Well, I slept in and only (barely) had time to catch up. Off to get this work day started. I'll be checking in on you all at lunch!

Hi all --

I know there's been discussion about the themed nights on this cruise, but I've been so busy -- plus computer problems, I haven't been able to keep up with the posts.

Can someone point me to that discussion?

Also, any feed back on the shore excursions -- good/bad? Which ones are you going on?

Thanks,

Leslye

Has anyone done the math and figured out what the recommended tip is per person for the 15 days?

I searched and came up with about $11 per person per day, sound right?

I pre paid my tips, but don't remember what they were. If you call DCL they should be able to give you the recommendations...if no one on here can.

Hi Leslye - for the info on the nights on board - there is a link in Pj's signature to a calendar that she's made (which is amazing!). Her DIS name is pjpoohbear.

As for excursions - I haven't done any of these yet but what I plan/hope on doing are:

CC - parasailing
Aruba - SNUBA (done w/ an outside company)
ACA - horseback riding
PVR - Outdoor Adventure (I know there are several of us doing this)
CABO - Harbour cruise & scenic drive (I know there are several of us doing this)

HTH!

Is anyone bringing gifts for their servers or stateroom hosts? And if so what?

We've never done this before but I see threads on the main board about it all the time.

I'm thinking about it, but haven't come up with anything yet. Ideas anyone:confused: ;)

I are prepaying our tips. $11 per person per day is what our TA told us. It worked out to $165 per person for the cruise.

Lisa - I'm thinking about doing this since it's such a long cruise, and we should get to know each other pretty well over that time :rotfl2:

I've heard that calling cards, books (but we have that covered), maybe DVDs? If anyone can give me ideas I'd gladly take them. :thumbsup2

There is a CM bus that takes them to Wal-Mart. We gave WM gift cards placed in tiny stockings to a few CMs when we sailed on Christmas. Otherwise, they LOVE extra cash above the recommended tip.

My plans today are to clean the house (realtor coming tomorrow to "re-stratagize" sale of the house) and then out to dinner tonight with our girls and families for DrHug and DD#2 birthdays. DrHug was the 5th and DD#2 is the 11th. We have a local restaurant that gives free pie to everyone in your party if you come for dinner in your birthday month. :thumbsup2 So, dinner and yummy birthday pie all around! :cool1:

Thanks Angie!

I looked for the thread that covered this but couldn't find it. Tried the search engine but couldn't get that to work either.

Happy Belated Birthday to DrHug. And to your DD#2. Have a great time at dinner. How cool that they do free pie for all. Most just do it for the birthday person.:goodvibes

Can I ask for a special prayer tonight?

Some of you might remember I went to Minnesota to visit my Grandmother back in December...she broke her hip. She was 98, and had never spent the night in the hospital other than having babies. My sister and I visited (that's when I bought my purse at the mall of america).

Anyway, my parents emailed two days ago that she took a turn for the worse with her recovery. My parents were in Aruba. They got a flight home to SFO, landed last night around 10pm. This morning at 3:30am they went to he airport to fly to MSP - my grandmother's home is about 2 hours away. As soon as they landed, they got a call from my Uncle that she passed away.

Her name is Adeline Flaig and she truly was a beautiful and wonderful woman. She had 7 kids, 32 grandchildren, and I can't keep up with how many great-grandchildren...maybe 50.

She lost her husband 10 years ago, and a few weeks (Jan. 98). She was very sad for a year after, but then came out of it and made a couple trips across the country to visit our family. I have great memories of my kids riding the cable car with her.

So I'm a little sad, and would love the thought of prayers for her welcome home.

Thanks.
Lisa

Each person can order a slice of whatever they like. You have to sign up for their "Birthday Club" though, which is just telling them when your bithday is and then they send a postcard that you give to the server at any meal during your birthday month. Nice, friendly, family restaurant with pretty good food. This place makes yummy pies! I'm thinking I will have coconut cream or lemon. And before my pie I think I will get a ribeye steak!

I had potted calli lillies (spelling?) and a couple of balloons delivered to him at work on his birthday and our DD#1 brought a single serving chocolate lava cake to him (at work also as he was working near her house that day) that we warmed in the microwave and shared with a scoop of ice cream for each of us that evening. DD#2 brought him a single rose and DS and his family called him and wished him a good day. I think he was happy with his day.
