Can I ask for a special prayer tonight?

Some of you might remember I went to Minnesota to visit my Grandmother back in December...she broke her hip. She was 98, and had never spent the night in the hospital other than having babies. My sister and I visited (that's when I bought my purse at the mall of america).

Anyway, my parents emailed two days ago that she took a turn for the worse with her recovery. My parents were in Aruba. They got a flight home to SFO, landed last night around 10pm. This morning at 3:30am they went to he airport to fly to MSP - my grandmother's home is about 2 hours away. As soon as they landed, they got a call from my Uncle that she passed away.

Her name is Adeline Flaig and she truly was a beautiful and wonderful woman. She had 7 kids, 32 grandchildren, and I can't keep up with how many great-grandchildren...maybe 50.

She lost her husband 10 years ago, and a few weeks (Jan. 98). She was very sad for a year after, but then came out of it and made a couple trips across the country to visit our family. I have great memories of my kids riding the cable car with her.

So I'm a little sad, and would love the thought of prayers for her welcome home.

Thanks.
Lisa

Sounds like she was a wonderful and loving person. Those are the type of people that you love to hear she had 98 years here!! How lucky your children are to have known her!!

My grandma lived to 98 as well!!

Bubbas birthday is the 27th. We always have to go close to our birthday to get our birthdays button.:goodvibes

Is that 27th February?
That's my DH's birthday too - and our excuse for a week at Wilderness Lodge. :)

Yeah! I love reading how exciting it is to have him home. You two have a great relationship! Lisa

All of my friends tell me how lucky I am to have him. None of them can believe he wants to go on vacation with me for almost 3 weeks and not see his friends.

He really treats everyone he knows wonderfully. I think he has about 1,000,000 friends

oh my, this am my car is the one acting up. The transmission doesn't want to switch gears...I am afraid we'll have to get a car and if John's breaks down he can ride his bike.
I was hoping 2008 would be a better year...so far it is looking grim.

Lisa - know that Adeline WAS welcomed Home with open arms and a choir singing for her.  and prayers to you and the rest of the family.

I understand. I do also believe that those who we love and love us have a hand in when they go. My dad waited for us not to be with him. My mom, sister and I had spend the last 4 years very close with him and during his final week we stayed in the hospital for a week straight, except for showers and meals. Paul and Wilson made it up late the night before he passed. I went to mom and dad's to sleep there that night. Mom and Lee stayed with him. My other sisters arrived in the morning to shift Lee and Mom for a shower, as they drove to us at the house I got the call. Dad passed. He was with my 2 older sisters; who for the record were not the daughters that cared for him (or my mom now) but I know he went when Lee and I & Paul could care for my mom. I hope you father is at peace with his mom's passing. I feel your pain. Just be the loving daughter that you are for him and your mom.

I believe this 100%. to you too. THanks for sharing.

I forgot, thanks for reminding me. We talked about dinner, but never came up with a place and time. Maybe the time was 5 or 6? I want to do the P&P party, so darn it, no dinner for me.

I know Jackie is trying to call around to see what we can do...I should be at the Hyatt about 8pm that night.

This is like a recent exchange of e-mails I had with Disney about their UK website. I booked our pre-cruise stay online, paid a deposit. A few weeks ago I thought I may as well pay the balance. The payment link on the confirmation e-mail goes to a webpage that doesn't exist. So, I go to the website, click on 'Existing Reservations', which takes me to a page that says, sorry, you can't access your reservation online at the moment. Well, it said that for well over a week!

But when I e-mailed Disney they refused to even consider there may be a problem with the website. They just kept making various suggestions about deleting cookies, refreshing the site etc. Finally, a couple of days ago, I did manage to access my reservation online. Went to pay, but can't - it keeps coming up with error messages, usually saying that I haven't entered my credit card number when I have. I've tried several different credit cards and on several occasions, but no joy. So I still think it's a problem with the website.

But again, Disney won't accept that. They can't explain why I can't pay online but infer it must be my fault. And all they can suggest is that I phone them to pay the balance. Which I will do eventually, but not until the due date. Meantime I'll keep checking in case it finally dawns on them there is a problem and they fix it.

By the way, I also have a reservation made through the US website and have no problems accessing that one. It's just the UK website that is playing up.

That is such a pain Mary!! I don't mind normally as I just check back later, when I can access my reservation, but with this weekend's reservations due I was getting worried.

Yes, it is.

I lost my parent, both died of Cancer:sad2:

anyway, I said where are you?

we must be typing same time :thumbsup2

Sorry Deborah, just posted and ran!!

Is anyone bringing gifts for their servers or stateroom hosts? And if so what?

We've never done this before but I see threads on the main board about it all the time.

Lisa - I'm thinking about doing this since it's such a long cruise, and we should get to know each other pretty well over that time :rotfl2:

I've heard that calling cards, books (but we have that covered), maybe DVDs? If anyone can give me ideas I'd gladly take them. :thumbsup2

One of the things mentioned about this is that the crew don't have much storage space.

Lisa, what a wonderful life she has had and what a wonderful family she has created. My prayers are with the family she left behind, because you know, she is already home in God's arms.

Good morning Marilyn, Deborah, Mary!

I think Lisa and Holly are on line too - so good morning to you too!

Holly - did you see my note about the flight on Airtran out of Flint?

I'm sooooooooooo glad today is Friday!! Work this week has been so bad that I've actually wanted to curse some of my clients out (a no-no). Luckily they can't see me (call center) or they would see the faces I'm making and any and all hand gestures too.:rotfl2:

Tonight I'm off to dinner w/ good friends at PF Changs - heard it's got good food, so eating a small amount at lunch to allow for more calories at dinner.
Tomorrow DirectTV is coming out btwn 8a-12n to install their dish - changed and decided to do a "bundle" through Verizon - should save me about $30/month plus I get to keep the 8 cents/min charge for my calls to my parents (Brighthouse wanted to charge 18 cents/min).

I'm hoping they get there pretty early cuz I have to go to the Post Office to pick up my pkg from ebay w/ my Mexican night dress.
