master bedroom’ no longer politically correct

Call me clueless, but I always assumed the name master bedroom denoted the size and position of the room, not the person who occupied it, thus master bedroom and not master's bedroom. Either way, I think owners bedroom sounds stupid, as if the owner didn't own ALL the bedrooms.

I wouldn't say I am offended I would say annoyed by the pc police. Annoyed that people are so sensitive that we have to now cater to them.

This Is not really pc... It is just marketing... Lol I do not remember a protest against the term master bedroom. I think everyone is too easily offended. Pc or not pc...

There is absolutely no indication anyone was offended by the term. An no one has to cater to anyone, but if a builder or realtor thinks they can better make a sale by changing a name, then why should anyone care?

I happened to attend the meeting of all feminists held last month and I don't recall changing the name of "master bedrooms" on the agenda. :confused3

:rolleyes1 So ridiculous - someone needs to get a life - it's just a term, and we all know what we're talking about when we use it.

Color me clueless too. That is exactly what I thought!

I read the article and the way I read it there is no way it is just for marketing,

The article says people were offended bu master suit. So I don't think this is just for marketing reasons.

No, it doesn't say people were actually offended. I think a bunch of people in the building business got together and decided this would be a better marketing tool.

But, try as I might, I have not yet been invited to join the PC police. So maybe this was on last month's agenda.

I suggest that everyone offended by this continue to use master bedroom. It would really be shame if we lost that term from the English language.

In the residential real estate arena, Lorraine Arora, vice president and managing broker of Long & Foster Real Estate Inc., said older brokers still tend to use “master” out of habit. But the younger agents have made the change because they “want to be more politically correct.”

This says they do it to be politically correct

Yes, but where does it say people were actually offended? if they think its more PC and by being PC that will make for more sales, why should anyone care?

So your saying this whole idea came about without anyone getting offended? Someone had to of thought it was at some point to consider it not politically correct,

Why not? Sales people are always changing words they use on sales pitches to make things sound better than they are.

Oops, I meant salesmen, not sales people. Hope I didn't offend anyone by trying to not offend anyone by using the pc term "people."

I don't think it is about money at all.

Right the PC people just wanted to ruin the term Master bedroom for everyone. The horror.

No what PC people want to do is make people bend to them. God forbid someone be offended and just have to deal with it.

Right, so people selling real estate care more about bending to people's will then their $$$$?

And who are these PC people? I'm dying to meet them. I would like to suggest that calling Christmas season holiday season is not going far enough. I think we need to call it "cooler weather" season so that I can buy cheap sparkly green and red crap from Walmart starting in September.

We're building a house with one of the nationally known builders mentioned, and our floor plan still says "maseter bedroom."

I'm telling the PC police. Expect them to be at your door tsk-tsking at any moment.

The real estate agents are doing it because they need to cater to the PC group. Why else would they do it? If you cater to a group that would bring sales so why not cater to the overly sensitive group?
